Hello, and welcome to my little corner of You Tube!
As my channel suggests I am a lover of Bristol VRs. Having lived within the boundaries of Southdown all my life they have always been around and my interest in them has grown over the years. I am the co-owner of ex Southdown/Brighton & Hove Bristol VR JWV 270W, and the owner of ex Southdown/Brighton & Hove Dual Door Bristol VR UFG 625S.
It is intended to keep you up to date with the restoration of 625 on this channel, as well as sharing some of my other interests with you. These include bellringing and railways.
Thanks for dropping by, and see you again soon!

St Peter's, Brighton, Bells, Stedman Triples Sunday 18th December 2022
Просмотров 5492 года назад
The first ringing on the bells of St Peter's, Brighton, for nearly three years took place on Sunday 18th December 2022. This ringing immediately followed the Carols by Candlelight service. Although we met short to ring all ten bells, it was amazing to be back at St Peter's and I look forward to bringing more ringing back there in the New Year. bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.php?id=1570382

Following the resumption of bellringing activities post-lockdown, social distancing restrictions meant that only six of the ten bells could be rung. On Monday 21st June 2021 we hear the end of a touch of Stedman Doubles being rung on the 'Covid Six', bells 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10. From inside the church you can hear clapper knock transmitting through the steel bell frame and into the tower wall.

Bells 6, 8, & 10 Being Rung Up At Hereford Cathedral
Wow, that took me back a few years. Back in the day when you had to 'Drive' a wagon as against they way they drive themselves these days!
Just like EWS753W a MONSTER, 680 VR,s are the coolest double deckers in Christenedom, roar and scream like the divas they are.
What a crap seat! Comes halfway up his back. Whats the point of the head rest?
Engine sounds sweet rob nice work and well done too
Very good.
Very good.
I remember the sense of danger sitting on the seat behind the driver WITH THE DOORS OPEN brill times :D
Can't somehow see Greta behind the wheel 😅😅
Witam. Czy to sound engine SW 680? Pozdrawiam
hung on 2 tiers
That sounds exactly like the west minster Abby Bells
Loved my constructor mixer and 10 speed spicer set up, pre-select high or low ready for the next gear and just dip the clutch and so it continued, micro switch used to wear and the air filter on the box used to clog up which would delay gear selection sometimes🙈
When I first started driving ,my first truck was a leyland roadtrain ! Not knowing any better I thought it was great ……….until a year later I got a DAF 3600 ! It was like stepping into the future . Today driving a Volvo FH16 750 hp across Europe I can only be grateful that technology didn’t end with that DAF 3600……although I do miss the fact that when I first started the speed limiter was my right foot and there were no mobile phones or cameras watching my every move ! Once I left the yard I was uncontactable …..yet the work still got done !
Wasn't there a T45 Drivers club back in the 80s..??
PLH198W My dad s unit with tl11 or 12 in it .
Very good double de clutching pretty slick driving. Only thing with the splitter so much leg work. Preferred the Eaton Fuller range change in my brothers Constructor far less bother. Leyland made very good trucks back in the day. Non assisted clutch needed a left leg like Arnie😁❤
Not his first rodeo with that box
It was all about knowing when you could let go of the key !!!!
And man in love with his gearbox...
Hi rob why not bring her out in the streets if Brighton
I kid you not. I found this on VHS today at the carboot 😅
Great to hear these bells, a lovely sounding octave, not too dissimilar to Privett closer to us.
Thanks for uploading these, been wanting to hear them!
Lovely minor third tierce. Remind me of Caterham.
I always like the Leylands, bar the ride quality. Everything else was just so functional and made for the job.
dose the clock chime here?
No, unfortunately not. The original clock mechanism which did was removed in the 1960s and replaced by a simple electric drive.
Nou
We're these layland engines based on the same principle as ee locomotive engines loadsnof fuel to aid compression rather than heat and fire one cylinder at a time?
Hereford= England
I've been lucky enough to drive a few T45's , day cab, sleeper cab and a couple of Scammell versions. Build quality wasn't the best but they were very nice to drive and the mattress was comfortable in the sleeper cabs.
Wow where's the 7th

OLD SKOOL. MANUAL TRUCKS. RANGE CHANGE AND SPLITTERS. QUALITY
I rode on these as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s, absolutely loved them and still do 😆
Is that a twin splitter?

amazing info mate keep up the good work
That classic signature hum from these buses... still miss it. These rides seemed very futuristic back in the day.
HUM HUM,!!! what drug are you on, it is a Leyland National not a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner, they whine clatter and knock filling the air with their aroma of badly burnt diesel. One thing a MK 1 National does not doe not do ,is HUM!!.
@@basiltaylor8910 Maybe not the best choice of word, but I hear a hum or a whine. Correct, it's not like a vacuum cleaner. And people get far too worked up over trivial things online.
@@josephd.2725 That is maybe so, as a teenager in the late,70,s early 80,s I rode these beasts when thrashed to an inch of their lives fully loaded on Stroud Depots many steep twisty routes .Standing in Stroud Bus Station in midwinter you could choke on the 510,s fumes and see a cloud of oily blue smoke spew forth from the arse end of a Mk1 National waddling out of Stroud Bus Station Station fully loaded with kids and disgruntled shoppers. That is why I got up so much steam, saying a 510 hums , er keep taking the medication,. To me Boy George,s Culture Club Spandau Ballet and a screaming 510 brings back memories of a world before it went mad!!!

I stand by what I say regarding the 510 ,it clatters, screams and howls filling the air with its perfume of hot metal@@skylined5534,oil, and diesel. Have you ridden a Tesco Margarine Tub ?,yes an Enviro 200, a strimmer engine with a bus body attached, f-----g awful things.

Drove that one and 274 and 276 for many many miles on the 700s out of Chichester. A shame the 0.680 engines in the other two were replaced with 6LXBs
Both sound great
