Don’t know about the fried chicken but right next door attached to the Fastop is Kalihi BBQ. Some of the best fast food chicken katsu on the island

that's a GINORMOUS thigh! average size tastes better, that looks like hormones injected thigh! I'd be scared to eat that. lol Foodland Waipio lacation has the best fried chicken, IMHO. I always ask for the med to small chicken thighs.

The crispy sound when you bit into the skin itself was wonderfully perfect, YUM!

The chicken looks and sounds great, the meat on the stick, if it is tough, forget it (may have been held a while?) The Lumpia,...I just can't get excited about it anymore! LOL (for obvious reasons!)

I LOVE your Japanese food reviews!!!!!!!! The crunch on that truffle croissant was Craaaaaaaazy. Uh, and you just said it's not that crispy. 😂 it sounded crispy.

Wow! Never seen anything like these pastries before. I like red bean, but it seems that it is in every dessert. But I have to admit that toast with the butter and red bean paste intrigues me.

In addition to Kim Chee (all of them) I also like Ono Korean BBQ's meat jun off of Dillingham. Their meat jun won't be as browned as the Kim Chee jun, but I think it's pretty good.

Absolute goodness! Japan has the best of food items. I have never really enjoyed a croissant, but what you have here is surely different. I would probably like it. The second item, the butter appears cold, but You do describe it as creamy, so I guess it is a win! The toast? I trust your description, sounds good. The truffle croissant? You are correct, it does look more like bread but surely it has to be pretty good. I think You nailed it, I think it would be hard to find a terrible bakery in Japan. Most are good! Ohh, you're there too early! LOL! The 2025 World Expo is in Osaka this year from April to October. I'm going there in September. I'll be sure to check out Sakimoto Bakery though. Thanks for the review!

I thought you had quail eggs in the box on the right. If buying pop (soda) in the Philippines, they put it in a bag with a straw sticking out much like that. Well, not as nice of a bag of course. Looks wonderful, looks ube in a way? Greatness!

Youngs Kalbee in Aiea has THE BEST meat jun on the island.

$17.50 for their lunch combo?! Just checked their online pricing and their lunch combo is $19 for two choices!!!! This place is XPENSIVE! I'll just go to Peppa's Korean BBQ at Kam Shopping. Their plates are below $25, NO MORE!!!!

Across from Pearlridge? Okay, I will google it. Wow, that rice land is still there near Pearlridge! Did they move the McDonald's out of the Pearlridge parking lot? I guess the movie theater isn't there across the street anymore (Kaonohi St) Food looks awesome!

Kim Chee #7 is my go to place after a long day at work, I'm to tied to cook or do anything...I order ahead and my meal is waiting for me...the Portions are well above Good, the meals are spot on awesome....Clearly they do not disappoint. Mahalo's for your post...

Thanks for the shout out! I'm so really happy you liked it. When at work, someone would mention "where're we going to get lunch from", and someone would recommend 'Kim Chee 7', and then all of the food requests would come flowing in from everyone. Restaurant quality food, not merely a takeout eatery. Another place was Peppa's in Kamehmeha Shopping Center. I love their Bulgogi Beef and their Fried Potato Salad; that's one-of-a-kind. Have a fabulous week!

I always thought it was pronounced "meat jun" (rhymes with fun) instead of "meat joon". I know the Korean pronunciation is "jeon" as in "gee-on" (but really fast as if one syllable).
