I grabbed by friend Mayo, taught him how to play with a few starter deck games, and then we were off to see what we could build with only half a box. This video was edited by @MrHuDat (I threw a couple little sprinkles on it afterward)

lifedecking sucks
If this has unique art and not just clipart from the shows, I'll probably buy it just so I can collect pretty Gundam cards....since I doubt I'll convince anyone to play it with me.
they stole levels from Phantom Dust, and I'm not even MAD I do hope they actually support this. I've been trying to abandon Yu-Gi-Oh and would absolutely love to play this instead.
Loved the cheekiness 😂 We appreciate the quick and simple review!
The design mechanic of being able to move bugs from field to hive & vice versa is excellent design. All the cards have gained more utility. The game play has essentially become deeper perhaps allowing a card that was great in the early game and not useful anymore to produce Dust helping to play a bigger card. It adds flavor to the theme. Differentiates itself from other TCG's. Very elegant!
I'm excited for this series
I was curious about this game, cool to see it in action!
1:19 definitely says Stomr
Thank you for the well executed video. You are great 👍
You MUST sing the whole song! Good voice!
Happy to see another great video from you, had fun watching! Thanks. 😊
How do you synchro summon in this game?
So, uhh, how do the mechanics of the game uniquely tie into the theme at all? The ability to send bugs in and out of the hive is kinda interesting and makes sense thematically, but most of the other mechanics are straight out of MTG/Duel Masters. I also dont really get the point of the fly/swim/tunnel mechanic, nor does the interaction make sense thematically. Good video explanation, but this game needs a huge mechanical revamp to have any chance of surviving in the market. The theme is somewhat unique but, if I just care about the bugs, Yu-Gi-Oh has some cool insect archetypes...
Looks pretty bug standard to me. 😅 haha
love the intro!
Very creative presentation! kudos
Oh boy, seems like a duel masters and lorcana meets MTG, but didn't fully understand why certain design choices where made for those games. I'll wish them well, but I'd be placing my bets on it flopping very hard. (Likely not even getting the funding they need on kickstarter, unless they set up a very low goal, which means it will die from not having enough players.) Reasons for thinking that it will flop: - Generic theme that just isn't going to pull people in. Maybe there is out there somewhere a group that just REALLY love bugs, but then the marketing needs to be focus on such groups. - Having a colored "mana"/casting system, but then forcing players to only be allow to use 1 color anyway... - I get that they want to allow people to be able to interact with the "points to win" (a real problem with lorcana), but attacking to reduce their score seems prone to major issues. - Card layout and styling seems very amateurish. (Big problem being the devotion, a very important number, being at the top, where costs are normally put, and then the top can be ignored for the rest of the game.) - Game play that will feel like a copypasta of MTG and Lorcana will cause players not bother to switch of to this game.
I'm not super familiar with Lorcana, but do people really need to interact with the points? You interact with the cards that generate the points, and you're racing. I think that's enough, personally. It's not like you can choose to heal yourself instead of damaging the opponent (as a rule) in Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh, or can put cards back in the opponent's prizes in Pokémon. But yeah, without having played the game, I can only imagine this leads to overlong games as players deny one another's progress. And I generally agree with your other points too. Though, I do like the bug theme and (most of) the art, fwiw.
@@shelby142 In Lorcana, like in the Shard Bugs game, Creatures have a stat that is used to score points. If you "tap" the creature to score points, that it, you just get the points, and there is basically no way to reverse the points. (Aka it would be like MTG not have ANY life heal cards.) Creatures in Lorcana that are "tapped" can be attacked by your opponents creatures, but that still can only happen AFTER you already scored.. So in other words, "aggro" types deck are generally stronger than normal in that game. Players do necessarily need the ability to reduce their opponents points down, they just would like to be able to "block" the points from coming in. In Lorcana, being at a major "life points" deficit is a critical problem, whereas in MTG and Yugioh, it is generally seen that life points are another form a resource, as long as you don't lose your last. I not saying there aren't going to be people who like the artwork and theme, I just don't think that it is going to do that good of a job pulling in that many people, as compared to other themes.
@@supermysterious66 Gotcha, yeah I can see how not being able to block would limit interaction too much. It's probably acceptable for a more casual game that's at least somewhat intended for multiplayer (and a younger audience), but it's probably not a great fit for a 1-on-1 competitive format.
@@shelby142 Ultimately, I don't actually play the game, but it is a complaint I've heard from a few people who have. That said, probably does make it a bit better for casual play.
@@supermysterious66 Aggro is actually not that great in Lorcana and more control oriented decks have most often been the top tier meta ones. You'd think it would be aggro, but the design arguably ends up emphasizing a heavy need for removal in most decks. There are also some cards which burn lore from the opponent, which are effectively healing cards, but they don't see a lot of play afaik.
This is most unique card game of all time, I'll take 100 Starter Decks and a booster pack.
Bugs be gathering
it certainly knows how it wants to look
how it wANTs to look
Excellent video ❤
2lainz had to whip out the high school English class alliteration for this. lol Nice job on the video!
Silly and fun concept but lots of cool game design elements from other games
Cool vid
So it's like... LorcanaxMtG? While this definitely brings mechanical/systematic improvements, I fear it's likely too difficult to break into the market and the theme/feel (comic-style bugs) is too generally niche/unappealing to really succeed as a TCG. Good luck to them, though.
@1:18 The Devotion being such a small number on a corner.. seems poorly designed. Being such an important number, you'd expect it to be more prominent. @2:52 If this is an equip card and goes under a Bug, then the trait is something that is checked upon equipment, and should not remain visible afterwards. Otherwise, you have extra information on a card that is useless.. drawing attention to its bright-colored-yellow self. The whole "Devotion" concept is fine in paper! The implementation leaves a LOT to be desired. Attacking a God directly to reduce it's devotion? A bug generating more devotion over time is okay, but they could have added markers to it, to show it's increasing belief in that God. Taking it out reduces the devotion you've accumulated.. instead of it being in the "air". I'm sure the game works fine, and it looks okay, but you can feel a lack of synergy with its systems and theme.
I love the art, very colorful but not cartoonishly
Why bugs?
Why not?
That's what I was thinking 🤔 as well, why not bugs. I think the bugs are an excellent idea since they have been around forever and it's definitely different 😊
While it probably won't be appealing enough to general audiences to support a paper trading card game (like most games, this sort of thing makes a lot more sense as an "expandable" card game model), fwiw, I think the bug theme is cool. Bugs are more interesting and diverse than most people give them credit for. The devotion thing is kinda generic though, and doesn't obviously tie into the bug theme.
🎉 Fantastic Work. Great video
BÜGS

i really hope this sucessful because i like gundam and this look fun
Why choose to have a baby voice
What.
That baby voice you got
2:32 that performance you do kinda sounds like what parents do to their kids, nothin wrong just odd choice
Cool idea for a video. Can't wait to see how this evolves.
Fuck I should have said digivolves
@@DannyFist HAH! Thanks.
They recently put out a sample play video and you were mostly correct
Aww, it's like how digimon started. How long before it balloons into something hardly resembling the first series?
This is such an awesome video we would love to see Backrooms TCG here🎉
Hey how did you play these card games online?
Tabletop Simulator!
The true enemy was basic addition. But great episode, love the editing and production!
P Bandai is getting tiring. sold out in an hour is crazy. Looks fun though.
Haven't even seen the cards and I'm a deathscythe/shuffle alliance main already.
Thanks 4 doing this video 👍
such a great video! I love the humor and you came up with a great design! WH40K CCG was awesome!
Hello Card Game crypt. I was wondering if you could do an explanation or tutorial video on the new Ultraman Card game ?
That's not a bad idea.
Love the video! What are a couple of your all time favorite TCGs?
Let's see - probably Yugioh for getting me into tcgs, and then re-getting me into them years later, the current Digimon tcg which is the game I've played competitively the most, Zombie World Order and On the Edge from this video are pretty cool.
@@CardGameCrypt thanks for the reply, great games. YGO is in my top 3 for the same reasons and I think Digimon is super unique. Zombie world has an awesome mechanic that I'm going to try a variation of for certain cards in my TCG.
ahh ultraman tcg i'm so digged into it i might played it again knowing my dad will beat me again and again and one more fun thing is that you say Tiga is Taiga which if you search "Ultraman Taiga" you'll get a different ultraman
I know this video is old but what program did you use to as the game table?
Tabletop Simulator
3:57 *CAAAAAAAAAKE !!!*
I love the way this is presented!! Great content
Let me know how this game turns out. Why don't you like union arena
Just kinda feels like a game Bandai made so they could sell any IP they had to get some of that weiss schwartz money without being as creative mechanically as that game. I don't really like the attacking/blocking/untapping mechanics in Union Arena.
The playmat looks cool
Thanks! I commissioned it and the artist (Onyxmagic) did a great job!
