I mainly like TCGs for the art direction and theme, and yours is the best one I've seen him review! I love the consistency and quality, and the futuristic edge.
Vanquishers sounds like a bunch of dudes who really liked playing Destiny and Halo said, "what if we made this into a card game?" And actually followed through with it.
Hi, someone who got the Primal Demo decks here. I was pretty excited for Naruto tcg to get remade, but when I actually got a chance to look through everything my heart sank: about 35% of the cards use ai generated images as the card art. The creators DO have a team of artists, both beginners and veterans, but I felt like I was tricked after learning they use ai art and do not disclose it. Left me with an icky feeling.
They didn't even know it was an issue I don't think - all the AI images are from the Promo pack - the kickstarter had no AI images as far as I know and they are removing them from the final product.
Absolutely loved the video. Gave a good overview of each of these and a couple grabbed my interest. I kind of regret not backing Runeslingers. I was going to get involved with testing for Wager of Troupes but never got around to it. It does look absolutely beautiful. Can't really get a grasp on the gameplay though from the overview. Would love to see more info on that.
Great video! Smooth content! Well done! Id love to see wager expanded upon, and id personally love to see Varia and Genesis and Kryptik gone over. Cheers and thank you for all your effort in this!!
Can I offer a suggestion? Could you change the roll mechanic? I'd rather add the two stats together, instead of subtracting each other and then rolling above the initiative. It feels unintuitive to subtract two stats and then try to roll high.
Great video! Love the quick overview of each mechanics, I was looking forward to you reviewing Kryptik TCG. Maybe in the next video? Keep up the great content! You gained a subscriber.
as much as i like card games.... i don't know what small companies are thinking when they go to kickstarter for a TCG. I mean yeah SOME of them get some hype (like flesh and blood but ... that's not much popular over here in Germany) and in a market where even TCGs with a big name (like Final Fantasy) are just doing "good" ..... why not making some kind of LCG model with fixed cards? (especially Omni with it's single card decks) I don't think many tcg players will jump to a different tcg just because they see a Kickstarter. I mean you are already deeply invested in one tcg so you rarely do the same for a second. Primal looks interesting... but the artworks are not consistend. I don't have anything against waifus and anime... but then seeing a dragon or monster which could be from the DnD 5E book is weird. But PLEASE more of this :-D
6 months late but flesh and blood wasnt a kickstarter tcg. They did everything the old way. But yeah too many kickstarter games.. and a lot of them arent even good.
Excellent video and incredibly enjoyable. Thank you Crypt for introducing all of these card games! I honestly hadn't heard about any, and they all seem to have really interesting mechanics
12:05 - haha lol I'm making a TCG and I'm seeing a lot of ideas from those games converging into my game, this is really cool to see. This idea of playing cards on top of your resources is something I intent to use, but also I'm allowing the resources to be targeted as pieces to be damaged. I don't want to reveal too much but I'm really enjoying the ideas, and seeing that those ideas are being experimented on and opinions on it is always very helpful as a designer.
@@jacobcrawford8456 what do you think of a TCG where the way to win depends on the opponent. Where your deck tells you how you lose. and its back and forth instead of full individual turns? Do you think there is a market for less turn based and more timing based and response
@@CardGameCrypt It essentially functions how Commander in Magic would work. First player still draws. Each other player draws if you mulligan. Other than that, pretty standard.
You should check out Chaos Galaxy TCG. It's a little more indie and homemade than the rest, but it's still a great game. Currently in the process of releasing the fifth set. The playerbase is pretty small and niche but it's still a very fun game with some unique mechanics
A lot of cool and unique games in this list but I'm most impressed by Wager of Troupes. The purpose, mechanics, naming, art etc. everything just flows so nicely according to their theme. It's very niche and I'm sure that will somewhat hold it back but it deserves a way bigger audience (no pun intended). What a great looking game!
Omni looks waaaaaaaay to complicated, games need to be simplistic to play but hard to master. You lost me once you started to go over the mechanics where you need to tribute summon your 3 blue eyes to make an ultimate blue eyes and then you need to tribute syncro xyz that one again to form the super duper mega blue eyes. It flet like I was watching an episode of yugioh lol
Fantastic video. Really really well done. I would assume you’ve played Kryptik and Otherverse. If not you need to check it out. Kryptik is FANTASTIC and Otherverse has a very fun, and simple gameplay thst uses a wager system with effects that is really quite fun.
Oh wow, that really is a ton like the Naruto card game. ...and the old Dragon Ball card game. And the Ben 10 card game. Bandai really liked that gameplay style.
Will you ever do a video on Grand Archive tcg, Nostalgix tcg, Spells of magic, Historica tcg, Sorcery contested realm, Galamons tcg, Genesis boc, and W.A.R(world auto racing)? That would be dope!
I know GA, Nostalgix, Sorcery, Spells of Magic and Genesis are on TTS and I also have a copy of W.A.R. I've also contacted the Galamon dev on making them a TTS so it would be on there but I never really got a reply. The only one of these I don't have any of is Historica. Thanks for the suggestions, some of these will definitely show up on a part 2!
Hey this is a rather cool video. Would be awesome if you could do this with ever tcg, ccg and lcg out there. Great introduction to the various games that exist.
Wager of troupes looks awesome, but i think the demon ones look to similar to rakdos, maybe a cirque do freaks esque theme or poets and soliloquy things could be better, but regards i really like it
Every single time the new game is announced I fear that it might steal my ideas, But I've come to realize The chance of someone doing exactly what I'm doing is infinite decibel.
I agree but I feel like it comes down to deck building. If there are too many high cost cards in your deck, then you make it harder on yourself to do anything. Plus I am not sure but I think they were using starters for thoes games.
@@delpeck2067 well, starters should never have the opportunity to create nongames, as that creates a bad experience and something that will deter new players from getting into a game. But, I can see these issues being a common thing since it has some mechanics that dilute your deck with natural inconsistency. Hard to say without trying it. The game looks gorgeous, and has some interesting ideas. I might try it on TTS.

As a developer, I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to review and give your feedback on Vanquishers TCG.

Out of all of these, runeslingers and especially water of troupes seem the most fun to me. And the artwork of the last game looks amazing.
The wettest troupes to ever perform. 😆
Wow from a designers standpoint, Wager of Troupes looks fucking amazing.
Vanquishers sounds like a bunch of dudes who really liked playing Destiny and Halo said, "what if we made this into a card game?" And actually followed through with it.
Troupes was super unique, that sounds like a really fun concept! Would love to see a follow up video of more indie tcgs, this was fun
