I haven't seen a show yet in person this year. When we talk about fan favorites and crowd reaction, am I mistaken that the Troopers seem to have one of the biggest crowd reactions once again? I'd put them right up there with PR this year - and quite frankly, as much as I like the Mandarins show, I think Troopers crowd reaction is better than them and SCV. Yet, their GE score still suffers for some reason.

Bluecoats have always been my favorite corps, their shows are just so interesting to me in a way most other groups' shows have never been. Tilt got me into DCI, Kinetic Noise got me attached, Downside-Up got me invested. I'm a Bloo fan forever now, and if they have an undefeated season, it's going to be very good for this sport. One group being overly dominant is a bad thing, and the operating costs aren't doing so hot, the health of DCI is not looking great right now. But seeing another corps knocking BD down is gonna breathe new life into the sport, I think.

That's exactly what I've been saying about PR..in 2008 they finished 5th in San Antonio and from there..they closed the gaps on everyone ahead of them and definitely had the crowd willing them for their final 2-3 weeks until DCI championship week..it could happen again.. we'll see

Phantom Regiment has a shot break into the top 3.. if not win it.. with 2 weeks to go..not very far behind

2024, devil's seems not interesting for being gold. Their show looks so stuck with no update in master summer games. So dissapointed 😢 sorry

PR might have peaked too soon. I only say this because they seem to be really young (compared to BC, BD. Boston and Crown) I believe Bluecoats have a lock on First Boston seems to have a pretty good lock on 2nd but BCD always finds another gear finals week. I think 10,11,12 is too close to call at this point. Just my opinion I maybe wrong. Feel free to disagree.

The fans don't always help. Think about 2019. The crowd was fully behind the bluecoats show and the BD show was not a crowd favorite but despite the hype BD seemed to get a favorable judge team and pulled out a close victory.

Atlanta really should just be called DCI Atlanta lol. Not complaining, but it would've been cool to see all the world class groups there, but half is fine.

All the ratings in the world can’t affect the crowd love. I was at the dome….Phantom stole the show hands down. 1st place didn’t even get a standing O like PR did. Even non PR fans were up for 2+ minutes cheering. It was electric in there during that whole performance.

Yes Bluecoats guard is not selling the guard book as good as BD, Carolina Crown or Boston. Boston will take best guard again in INDY.

I’m sorry to say this bit I just fell in love with you! Too much fun! I’m color guard that plays euphonium, you are Mr. Music. Please explain why Crown is not in 3rd place in Music. I just saw BD playing very well, but when I heard any Corps’ intricate music passages with double, triple, tongue breaking playing, I look to see if they are moving (drill) or stand and play. BD is stand and play. I’m not even going to touch percussion because all I know is if they sound like one player and they look good. I’m not a good judge for percussion. But I know music pretty well (… not compared to you…) that is why I would like your thoughts on the top 4 in music with 5th knocking on the door. And yes, I’m old and do not like electronic/guitars on the CORPS fields. Bluecoats’ show depends on electronics. I don’t believe they would be sitting where they are without them. And I’m again apologize, I don’t much care for esoteric shows like BD’s. What’s up with the colorful horses? What do they have to do with “Romantics?” It’s like when they did Gaslight or Stagelight or whatever you choose to call it. If you are not familiar with stage acting (which I am,) people are going, “huh?!” I also know where they got the shoe tapping inspiration from. And this year with “Glitch,” I don’t see glitches which could have been written in the show. I get the colors, but they should be in flashes of colors at different rhythmic times… glitching. I know it all comes down to taste. But knowing the WGI sheets as well as I do, I don’t see new artistic, inventive concepts that would reach box 5. I guess that’s why I’m a better downstairs judge, I guess!

SUPER underrated channel for DCI

It's a bit annoying to watch you constantly leave the bottem few corps out of the ranking. You're literally leaving out hundreds of performers

If Scouts maintain 12th place, then all the founding corps of DCI (who are still active) will be in finals together.

BD staff meeting to make changes to try to top bluecoats show. They can't, not this year.

Warmed my heart seeing that you honestly believed my Colts would pull ahead of Cavies. Hopefully they do by the end of the season! only 1.325 to go, not the scariest margin in the world to overcome in 3 weeks time! Especially when the majority of that 1.3 points comes from only a select couple of captions. .7 difference in Vis Analysis alone. .625 in MUSIC analysis alone. and then half a point difference in the perc obviously... funnily enough, total music was only a margin of .525 - still have 0 clue where that score comes from, but you will never hear me complain about it lmao. but if i learned anything from last season, Colts music ensemble is gonna wait till literally finals weekend before finally cracking down and clicking together, and hopefully that happens this season too, with the Music caption being the largest gaps between them and the cavies, and the SMALLEST difference between them and the blue stars! (would be cool to eventually topple blue stars in music by finals but i personally dont see it happening) very exciting night in SA last night - this season so far has been the most excited i have been for a season of drum corps in a very, very long time!

You were pretty close! Bluecoats are starting to leave the others in the dust, a 93 is actually insane. Bloo guard in 4th is rough, but they will still have no problem getting the gold.

I’m here for my baritone scout. I think the most recent score in Waco might change things and move them to 12th.

Dude give me a break with this Blue Devils brass in 5th silliness. They're the only hornline that ever beats Crown and have the best overall brass track record of any corps in rhe world even WITH Crown's recent track record. Phantom will not beat that hornline. Period.

Troopers have 3 full rehearsal days before San Antonio, and aren't doing any of the pre-San Antonio Texas shows. I bet they change their show a lot and/or clean up. Whether it results in a score jump remains to be seen since they'll have to overcome their timeslot. I still think they get 8th by the end of the season. As for Saturday, I have no idea where they'll end up.

I really do enjoy how Boston found a way to incorporate their percussion section with their color guard during their True Colors ballad.

Your caption predictions are spot on at this point in the season, I think that SA will really highlight where GE is affected by the other captions. Being an indoor stadium, gives all the corps a chance to simulate Indy. However, never count out BD…they seem to always give more to the level when needed. I think they took Broken Arrow for granted. Love Bloo and PRs successes this year as I marched PR and my son is currently in Bloo. I first saw Bloos show in Canton and I knew then what the judges are saying now…a very complex show visually and musically..just need the guard to step up and stop the drops. Beloved PR always grabs my heart musically, and I’m just waiting for their visuals to clean up and knock that GE up a bit:) Thanks for being open to discussing our favorite activity of the summer!
