Good Bye Camaro :( WHAT'S NEXT?? Grand National Paint update
Sadly, I had to say good bye to my 4 year 84 Chevy Camaro Z28 Project. I took it as far as I could, and it's time for someone else to enjoy it! That freed up some cash to have some ugly scratches fixed on my 87 Buick Grand National. Of course, now I'm looking for something new to work on! Comment if you have any suggestions!

Suburban SUBMERGED! My street FLOODS! Can I save it??
Просмотров 1233 месяца назад
A severe Rain Storm dropped almost 10" of rain over a couple of hours. My street flooded badly while I was asleep. Unfortunately, my 2011 Chevy Suburban was in it. Now, I have to see if I can save it, or will my insurance cover it? Or total it!! It's a bummer, because I just did a bunch of work to it. There's always something going on at Nowhere Fast Garage, but I was not prepared for something...

Suburban Brake Caliper Sticking/Can't Bleed Air Out of Lines!
Просмотров 1134 месяца назад
In a little over a year of owning this 2011 Chevy Suburban 1500, the repairs have mostly turned into MAJOR DISASTERS! The latest one seemed like a simple job, replace the front brake caliper because it was hanging up dragging and burning the brake pads. Installing the new one was super easy. But that was just the start of the real issue: I cannot bleed the air out of the brake lines! In the end...

      If I wanted it to be slower and heavier, that would be a good option. It’s a 6 cyl car, so I don’t see how that ruins it. I understand old school, but engine swaps don’t ruin cars for me. I like them all, BBC, SBC, Ls, whatever. It can always be changed it’s not permanent.

    Hey so I'm the guy who bought the camaro and I and love it. Ive already had to fix a couple things the center link had play on the pitman arm side and got a new idler arm also and a couple days after i got it the carb kept flooding so had to rebuild it luckily my pops is good with that stuff unfortunately the transmission was junk needs a complete overhaul my tranny guy said I'm lucky I didn't grenade it cuz it was cutting itself in half from the inside out but the case is still usable thankfully also I'm upgrading the internals to a 87 and up 700r4 those have better parts in em so it will be better than ever once he's done with it also it will have OD to and since I got it apart I figured I'd get some shorty headers add a little more HP and a better diff so no more one wheel peel but overall it's a great car and I'm excited to get it all back together saw this video and figured I'd give a little update on it

    I never did like any Camaro after 1981. The car is only original once and painting the Z28 would be a big mistake and lower the value. Some people just don’t understand what money a survivor can bring in especially 1967-72 Z28’s. GN. The plant that built the GN had the worst paint job of all the plants GM ran. My ‘87 GN from new had a visible paint run on the drivers rear qtr. The paint is the last yr for lacquer and I just left it cause they wouldn’t match it plus having the original paint will be more valuable. I would get a paint correction person to do his best on the complete car. I would not paint anything. I bet you didn’t know this but in Canada, if you complained in 1990 about your paint they agreed to strip and repaint the complete car for free IF you were the original owner. Fresh paint will stand out like a sore thumb especially black and besides, it’s against the law now to use lacquer. So yrs later you could end up with a paint reaction that causes blistering then the whole qtr will need to be stripped to bare metal and that would really stand out.

    • @nowherefastgarage
      @nowherefastgarage 26 дней назад

      The GN has already been completed repainted sometime long ago. I think I would have seen a reaction by now. I would love to do a full paint correction, but I don’t have a few thousand to spare right now.

    After replacing shoes, drums, springs, parking brake cables, and rubber hose- the issue causing my passenger side rear drum to get hot turned out to be a worn backing plate not allowing the shoes retract all the way. If your backing plates have grooves from the brake shoes then it’s time to replace them.

    I have a 71 nova I'm restoring and had the same issue reinstalling the springs but I figured it out and it's so simple. Get a 3/16 threaded rod 3 nuts and 1/8" thick washer. Run rod thru upper arm into spring and out bottom a arm. Add the 1/8" washer to bottom of rod with 2 nuts and 2 washers and nut at top of rod. Tighten hand tight then pry spring in pocket continue to tighten until spindle can be reattached. Remove rod install shock. Very doable good luck

    I always loved the g bodies back in the eighties but now that I have the 3rd gen camaro f body, RS, I pick it hands down. It gives a thrill in speed, looks, and hugging the road, which feels great when driving cool cars. The 80 g bodies feel like your grandpas 70 buick electra 225 going down the road swaying lolling in luxury! I also now realize that the g bodies where invented to give the office worker a slight feeling of sporty luxury - luxury first - sport second - and the f bodies were invented for the young thrill seeker - sport first - forget the luxury!

    I always wanted the Grand National but couldn't afford the extra money required to buy one so bought the 1985 Olds Cutlass 442, black of course but mine had the gray interior and electric sunroof. I would say that there is hardly any comparison except the cruising comfort. Transmissions may be the same but I never liked the mushy 200R4. Mine did have higher mileage though. These transmissions are suited to a rebuild with a shift kit which makes a nice difference and a crisper shift. U could drop a 700R4 into it, also. The gutless 170-180 hp 307 was a real disappointment. The 373 rear gear helped make it enjoyable. Too bad it wasn't a posi. It was a great cruiser. It floated down the road and people liked the look of it. I think the 442 had a classier interior and the GN had the better engine. Although 3000 442 cars were made, only 200 made their way to Canada. Those low production numbers here made it slightly more collectible. I loved my 442 and still miss it a great deal even today, 10 years after I sold it. Gotta love the G bodies. Would really LOVE to have a GN but sadly could never afford one now either, being so close to retirement. I keep buying lotto tickets and dreaming. Thanks for showing us your machines. You are very fortunate to have such great classics. Zee Mitchell Ottawa, Ontario Canada
