Time please, ladies and gentlemen Time to venture to the haunted hostelries of Edinburgh. The offence of ''drunkenness'' was first recorded in 1436. It was a substantial social problem, resulting in crime, adding to the misery of the squalid conditions people faced. By 1830 both Glasgow and Edinburgh had a pub for every 130 people. You could sell alcohol at any given time of the day if someone ...

In regards to the theatres and cinemas of Edinburgh, there are many. In the seventeenth century, the Church of Scotland had traditionally taken a very negative view of the theatre, which promoted immorality. Enraged citizens burned down the first theatre in Glasgow as late as 1752 by a mob incited by hard-line ministers. It was, therefore, a sign of changing times when the Canongate Theatre, th...

@@SynchronisedSoulsPodcast number 2.
@synchronisedsouls I spent a lot of time there as a youngster in the late 70s and 80s. The Embassy was long gone by then but co NEN presenter EJ Ross remembers it well. His mum worked in the shop beside it, a newsagent..
Number 7 for my family ❤
I remember the tales from the embassy from my dad & family members who went there or the Palace back in the day. I also remember it being Laws & a local lad breaking in & opening it up to the public during the night 😂
Do you remember the spider in the oranges story? I know there have been many urban legend stories like this but I remember the day it happened at laws...
After serving my time in the Royal Scots I finished my time as a drill sarg in the 52nd lowland which had this drill hall as well as east clermont street. The drill hall although right on the street seemed rather quiet inside. The offices and training room above always had that don't want to be there feeling. Saying that the front rooms were not any easier to be in while on your own. I'm sure I still habe pictures of landrovers inside the hall somewhere. Had rather sad heart when I had last been down to Edinburgh from the highlands. Seeing the building closed by the military and now used as something other than its purpose. At least it is not falling into disrepair
So enjoyable thank you ❤️🏴
Many, many thanks👍👍👍👍
Could you please do something about the FOREGROUND music , on lowest volume in the BACKGROUND where it belongs would be great. Can't hear a word of this otherwise excellent series .
@sheilastewart5387 Greetings Sheila. The audio is unfortunately unable to adjust. Once you upload a video to RUclips its there as it is. I've not uploaded a feature length story in a couple of years and no longer have the source materials. The sound differs on different devices. If you have a listen with headphones it may be a very different experience. Hope this of some help and many thanks for liking the videos. They were a great deal of fun to make...
This was a great story , they do say second hand goods can have spirit attachment's so beware. . I wondered if you have ever heard of a sppoky tale about a chap who met the God Pan in Edinburgh many years ago , im sorry i dont know anymore than that ?
The man who claimed to have met Pan in the botanic gardens was R Ogilvie Crombie. He wrote a book titled 'The Gentleman and the Faun'.

I've just came across this video. And I have cold shivers all over. 19 years ago I was working on a renovation job at Wardle Square at the foot of the steps. One day I decided to go up the steps. as I wanted some lunch. as I knew there there was shops nearby at the top of the steps. Halfway up the steps I saw a shape. Don't know what it was as it was faint. I froze for seconds. Then this fainted shape came towards me .and passed passed through me. I then ran down the steps and into the cottage I was working in. and told my colleagues what had happened!!! I never went up those steps whilst I worked in Wardle Square Square again!!!!
That is a brilliant yet terrifying story. I would really like to hear more. I will send you a DM.. Cheers...John
Ok, so I won't be listening to this channel after dark or when my husband is gone from home. 😱
There is actually no way on the Joppa story my new house in 31a Edinburgh road also In this
That's crazy so my window bedroom window faced the tower and I used to sit at it every night with my cigarettes facing the windows on the tower never saw anything

Brilliant stuff. Many thanks for the kind comments and glad that you enjoyed this chilling trip to the hospital. These stories and more feature in my brand new book 'Tales from the Crypts of Auld Reekie'...
Anyone else thinking the talking in the background is a bit distracting?
Fantastic stories. Well researched.
Many thanks
Something was chafing Paddington's Crack
Who says Happy Halloween? Never heard of that as a greeting. Because it isn't one.
I can't hear anything they are saying and the close caption just muddles it more.
Fascinating and spooky! Thank you! 😊
Was there a Part 3 to this story?
What a lousy building for keeping sick people. There can be no modern hospital in such a place let alone poor housing.
There isn't a period between April 30th and 1st May.

20:35 There wouldn't have been any trace of old railway lines dating back to the 1700's(18th Century). The earliest railways date to the 1830s or so in Britain.
