Great video. Which exhaust is that?
Vance and hinds grenades 2 into 2
Thanks for the video, very helpful. If you don’t have a center stand, I used ratchet straps suspended from rafters in my buddy’s garage to lift the front of the bike up, then I used a jack to lift the engine. Ratchet straps kept the bike from tipping over. I’m not handy at all but that worked! Also, the bike makes a lot more noise after the install. Don’t be alarmed!
Most importantly, yes, there seems to be a slight bump in acceleration.
If it works. It was a good idea!
Thanks for the video, Jay. Really appreciate it. Will have to look at ordering the parts from out of province though, the Indian dealer here is on backorder for nearly everything. Also such a hassle trying to find out of these are legal here in Alberta. Basically the only easy part so far has been watching your how-to-video haha. Cheers.
These guys have been helpful. www.indianpartsnation.com
Your video helped me tremendously today when I upgraded my air filter! Thanks for the assistance 😉😁 I couldn't smash the subscribe button fast enough.
That’s awesome. Thanks so much!
my scout rogue has a 19inch in the front, what could I do to change it and make it look more bulky? change to a 16" ?
If I remember correctly I couldn’t find many options for a wide 19”. So ya you may have to get a smaller rim. EBay was where I got mine
I’m curious on what psi you run the rear tire at for your 180?
Thank you so much for sharing your video Jay very helpful
Glad they keep on giving
Do you need to get the bike tunes after you install the new air filter? If so where do you go? Indian wont tune for this
Great job thank you so much for sharing this video is really going to help me 👍🏽
Awesome! Thanks for watching
FFS man those nuts and bolts are metric not imperial you'll round'em all off in time.
Garbage that they can’t get these to be plug and play for the money you pay.
Things may have changed since 2018 on the newer bikes. But yes. This was less than ideal to say the least.
Can I put kingpin wheels on a bobber?
Does this support the abs variant
What is the seat you are using on your bobber?
Yhanks bro from México
De nada amigo
I have the same tail lights. Honestly, the brake lights are nice and bright, like shown in the video, but the dimmer running tail lights are a bit too dim for my liking. At least the brakes are noticeable.
Hey Jay, are there any other rims that would also work with the 180s and be plug and play on the stock bobber? Seems those Octane Victory rims are hard to find.
Prefer stock I like big bulbs
And cannot lie?
ATTENTION!!!! This message is not to hate on Jay Fast videos. its just a service announcement. I do not recommend putting a 180 tire on stock rims of a bobber. I just did it to mine and it makes almost no difference in the width of the tire. The small rim pinches the tire down to a 150 tire size. Save yourself the extra 100 dollars for the 180 and all the extra hassle and frustration of trying to get a 180 tire to get the bead to seat on stock rims. just get the 150 tire unless your willing to mod the whole rear end so you can use a proper rim for a 180. Its a waste of money and sanity to use a 180 tire on stock rims. It makes little to no difference in the width of the tire once you get it on the stock rim. just do the 150 on stock rims
I never measured the wheels mounted. You could be right? I was just trying out different things. Worked for me. Running victory octane rims now for the last few years with pirelli rally str tires. Been great
shitty look
Great video. I am planning on installing the trask intake and dean speed slip ons next weekend. Can I ask what jack you are using? I have been looking at a few but don't know if they would be compatible with the scout.
I have a full motorcycle lift now. But at the time it was a motorcycle/arc lift from Canadian tire. I’m sure harbour freight or any other auto parts store would have them. Works well with the scouts as there is no frame rails to worry about. Just lift at the bottom of the motor. It’s a stressed member.
I think the original lights looks way better.
Agree to disagree. Ride safe!
Thanks for the video mate
Did you do it?
@@jay_fast sure did man! Thanks!
Hi, great vid I learned a lot. However, did you get the rotation direction on the front tire wrong? Looks like the water would get pushed to the middle not outwards…? Back looks right.
Hey Jay, great video. Does the filter change the sound at all? can you hear any induction noise?
100%. Even with a modified exhaust you can hear it on a heavy pull.
@@jay_fast Appreciate you getting back to me bud!
@@Wildehyde absolutely. Ride safe
Sir , one question , How to make sure the wheel axis is in "center" position before you adjust the tension ? It seems have some torrence .....
I believe a 180 rear tire is to wide for a 4.5 rim?
Good way to burn your clutch...way to go
Thanks. Worked out pretty good. 40,000km and still the original clutch.
Dang I just bought a puig valve stem and it looks a lot like that. What brand was yours?
It’s a triumph motorcycle valve stem
@@jay_fast nice. So puig didn’t fit either. I ordered oem ones and replaced them. Hopefully someone sells a 90 that will work. :)
I have the part number in an Instagram post. @jayfast
@@jay_fast oh you got one to fit??
My biggest complaint about the scout is how much it cost. I was just quoted around $18000 for one.
Why do I keep hearing you have to delete the fender if you put 180 on? Seems like it fit just fine from your video?
On a stock rim. It fits fine. But the stock rim is narrow. I run octane rims now. They are 4.5” wide vs 3.5” I think a 180 is supposed to be on a 5.5 or 6”? In which case it starts to rub. But a 180 stock rim. No rubbing
1 year later how did that 180 hold up and did it change the feel of your ride any negative effects ?
@@josephramos3777 I'm curious as well
Did anyone that did slip ons first notice that their scout was running lean prior to the air box and a tuner being installed?
Nice job Jay, you solved the headache for the next mod anyone attempting this. Thanks
Can I change my sportster's stock rear 150 tire to 180/65/16 without changing the fender or doing a chain conversion,
Not sure. Never owned a sportster
Nice vid Jay.. looking at replacing tires on my 2022 Bobber this weekend. Mind sharing the torque for rear wheel bolt? I heard you mentioned it for the from wheel, but couldn't hear what you said for rear wheel, is it the same 55 ft lbs?
Axel nut torque is 65ft/lbs
@@jay_fast tried doing it today, struggled to access the axel bolt. It's hiding behind the exhaust, had to take the exhaust out. I have Indian Shorties exhaust. Do you have any ideas on how I can make it easy next time? Use the torque wrench on the other (belt/side) while holding the bolt with spanner wrench on th other side?
@@drifter-indian1448 no. That will give you an incorrect reading. Sucks. Unless you have enought suspension droop to maybe line the bolt so you can get it between the exhausts with an extension. But even that will skew a reading. Might just be a thing you have to remove the mufflers/tips for. Should only need to do it every so often??
@@jay_fast yeah, gave up for now. Will het back to it tomorrow. Bike if off the lift, but I need to torque it before taking it out. I also feel that the belt is rubbing the inside wall of the belt Guard near the sprocket. Need to get it back on the lift tomorrow and fix it.
@@jay_fast thank you very much for the vid and the answers to my comments. Really appreciate it.
greetings from PR, What is the maximum size of tires that can be used on the rear wheel?
I am pretty certain on this. But not 100%. But I don’t believe you will get anything wider than a 180 rear tire regardless of wheel width. It will hit the rear subframes. So unless you modify them you are limited to a 180 rear.
So I accidentally took the bolts off underneath the seat I think it holds the frame and now it shifted. I can’t put the bolts or the seat back on. What can I do?
You can put a Jack underneath the motor and lift or lower slightly to realign the bolt holes. Just be careful not to cross thread. The motor and frame are aluminum. The motor is what’s considered a stressed member. We don’t have a traditional frame. The motor is part of the frame. You haven’t wrecked anything.
hi jay. Do you think i can order the side mount kit from BC's indian dealer?
Yes. 100%. This site is great too www.indianpartsnation.com
Made for midgets.
whats that extra hole from now that the stock intake was removed?
Is the front frame? 🤷just probably for quieting the intake noise
Is that a180 mounted on a stock wheel?
It is ya. I put about 10,000miles on it with zero issue. I have octane rims now and different tires
I lost the bolt do you know what size the bolt is
Which bolt?
Where did you get the adapter plates from
From joker machine
Love this review! Because of this video review, I just bought the same bag for my 2014 Yamaha Stratoliner Deluxe! Loved the make it rain part too!!! Ride safe!
Before making adjustments did you have to loosen up the 27mm nut first?
Yes. You need to loosen the axle nut. Keep a bit of tightness in it. Make your adjustments then retighten. Check alignment again after tightening. It can put it off
Thank god i got 500 credit for being in the service bought it with the bike
Just got a bobber with a flat paint job, thanks for showing me some new products to get.
I still use them. Use them on all my vehicles too.
Jay. I'm from BC too,The Kootenays. I am curious as to what soldering iron you used in the video and where you got it. I have the usual Scout mishap where the rear harness connector jumps out of it's holder and the rear tire burns off a few wires. The only soldering guns I have available locally are Canadian Tire and they get scathing reviews. Pure garbage. Yours looks just right for splicing my wires back together. There is not much wire protruding from the connector so I get one chance at getting it right. Inability to control the temperature could seriously complicate my life.
It’s a cordless butane soldering iron. Got it as a gift. Pro point maybe. I’ve seen them on Amazon. I really like it. Might have come from lordco.
If your ever on the island. Hit me up on Instagram
@@jay_fast Thanks Jay. I'll look into it. Slim chance of me being on the Island. I spent 43 yrs in Powell River and if I never see another BC ferry again it'll be too soon. Ride safe and thanks again.
Hey, saw that you are from BC as well… can you recommend any after market place to buy mods and upgrade for the bobber? Like the exhaust slip on and such… thanks
Unfortunately there aren’t many options. I’m on Vancouver island. We have a company they brings things over from the US. So I order from places like revzilla or joker machine. Ship to their office in Blane Washington (which most offer free shipping in the continental US) and for $17 they bring it to Victoria. I just pay the duty. Fortnine.ca is decent too. It may have gotten better but at the time they didn’t offer much for the scout. This was easily 2018.
