    Hey, its been 5 months, and i think ive improved my drop overall. But ive had one question lingering, and that is, are there 2 ways to slice drop volley? The first way being to cut directly down on the ball and the second way is using your wrist to cup under the ball? Also for the forehand drop, you can chop down too, right? You don't have to always cut under the ball? Thanks!

    • @theoneinfinite
      @theoneinfinite 3 месяца назад

      Correct ✅ there are a few ways to hit a drop volley, the most lethal however is the slice drop volley because the ball bounces away from the opponent after touching down. Both the forehand and backhand follow the same physics, the angle of the face, the firmness or softness of your touch on the ball, and the swing path(if any swing at all)determines the spin, depth, height, and direction of the ball 😁🎾👍🏻

    You’re exactly right! This is the main reason I invented this game type, to help players realize the importance of kitchen play and how it translates to more consistency and more wins!

  • @richbodo
    @richbodo 3 месяца назад

    I love these variants. Pickleball wants to minimize the importance of power, maximize kitchen play, and create exciting and fun rallies. I think the end game of that is to start with two players up and two back, and start with a dink or start with a serve that must drop into the kitchen. Otherwise, eventually, the game will become about generating power and spin, and rallys will diminish accordingly.

    • @theoneinfinite
      @theoneinfinite 3 месяца назад

      Yes I agree, it’s also a great game type for beginners as it helps them build the correct game habits and really understand the value of the Non-volley zone.

    with lob serve, I have a question I mean I know the answer I guess the question if for anyone to ask themselves. what do you dislike about the lob serve meaning receiving it? the answer if it's hard to generate power from it. so how do you cause problems with lob serve? just lob it back. there's no reason to power a lob serve, when you do that you're doing a couple of things 1. you're allowing the ball to have a lower angle of attack which allows you're opponent to return the ball with a lower angle of attack 3rd shot drop. if you lob return, the ball has to bounce which bounces high so 3rd shot drop is harder. drive is harder. pretty much everything is harder. 2. you've increased the speed of the ball, but not that much so your opponent will be able to drive the ball with more power, also they will be able to generate more spin especially top spin, which is my favorite shot, lots of top spin which looks like alot of power but the ball drops right over the net and causes problems, I force alot of errors with this shot. also because your return wasn't that powerful 3rd shot drop is easier. 3. most likely your return isn't going to be on the baseline so your opponents will be able to start to move forward. the best defense for a lob serve is lob return. if I'm playing into the wind I'm hitting that ball a mile in the sky and remember when they try to drive the ball and it sails out let it go. most people try to do this side arm hit it always goes out. good video

    For forehand slice, not too many people talk about wrist extension to wrist flexion. The main reason is that many people afraid that by the subtle movement of the wrist on the forehand slice, it creates confusion and the beginners might swing the wrist like flapping fish. But it is important to know the existence of the slight write movement from extension toward flexion.

      Good point, i made this video 3 1/2 years ago…I’ve advanced since then and can see what you’re seeing in this particular shot(i may have been a little too athletic but i still have my front foot planted at contact because I’m transferring my weight forward)but the footwork is not the focus of the video but more so the other body mechanics basics such as the low to high motion and wrist action.

All professional tennis players/racquetball players/squash players have their feet planted firmly at the time of impact almost always. Provides balance, power and more consistent shot. But then again for some people at a certain age it might work to do it differently as it obviously does for you. Best wishes. I love the change of grip. Few Pickleball players do it. I do.
