Whilst I understand you wanting to keep the same battery packs, I think it would make your channel more interesting if your had a different battery manufacturer to those you already have Sarah. It will, or may show some challenges to achieve this, but that is what its like out here in the real world. I have 2 Seplos Mason battery connected together and one is 10% down compared to the other. So the battery that is not getting a full charge is a bit of a concern, as I haven't even reach 300 cycles yet. So it would seem I have a bad cell in that battery pack, but I have no clue on how to find out which one it is!! Ken in Wales. Edit; I like those cut off switches, but not so keen on those loose cables dangling down, if you court it on something it could pull the cable out of the terminal. ( this happen to me once) You need to clamp them onto the wall.

Good job, just a quick observation on your crimping. It’s clear to see that your crimp already meets the 2 metal blocks. Though you still press 3-4 times your handle. That will not do any more crimping but it puts lots of stress on your hydraulic system as the only way for the oil to escape your pressure is the valve or the gasket. Also a 2nd crimping is often explained as moving the clamp by 1/6 to then press again and it will also clean out the sometimes buildup sharp edges.

A point on the anti staic bags, they are only protective on the inside, the conductive layer that creates the Faraday cage is painted on the outside so laying circuits on antistatic bags can short components out, so I would not recomend doing it, I hope that helps,Take care D

quick solution that doesnt need a 3d printer, go to your local pound/euro shop and buy a cheap platic chopping board, and cut off of it a piece that is wide to fit in the gap, and superglue it into place where the weak spot is,you might need 2 pieces superglued together to get the same height as the standoffs though, a quick non conductive solution, and if your careful you will still have enough chopping board left to slice a french stick on :) :)

Then what is the point of the two long circuit board cell connectors? The balance leads from the BMS connect to the end connectors on the long circuit boards. The short leads from the circuit boards then connect to the cells in sequence. This is specifically designed to avoid the rats nest of leads down the centre of the battery. So why have the rats nest of leads and the circuit board cell connectors?

Based on some of the previous comments, a possible upgrade could be to keep your new isolators, but replace the lynx power in with the new lynx class t power in (m10). You would need to widen the m8 holes in the lynx shunt to connect to the new power in. You could then add two 200 amp class-T fuses in the new power in. This would protect the system from a discharge rate above 0.6C from each battery. Your 70mm2 cable is rated at about 192 amps, so it should survive.

We are in the same boat. Independence from the grid is #1, then savings. We are the opposite as far as winter/summer consumption. We use much more in the summer. We are pretty close to independent with 9kw inverter, 9 kw solar, 30 kw battery. I think that with 12kw solar and 40 kw battery along with a few more insulation tweaks and we could be free from the grid.

I‘m on minute 17 and didn’t know the rest of this video but I believe the cable extension is a little bit too long. Your „16A“ cable is 3x 1.5mm2 or more? When I must extent the cable I had select 3x 2.5mm2 because over the total length of the cable you becomes a fall down of the voltage on heavy load. The second issue is when the short current value is less than 80A to trip the MCBs on failures . In Germany it‘s recommended that minimum of 105A short current for a secure MCB trip.

I really like you sharing your install. it good inspiration how to do it. Just a few tips as I work as elektrical safety inspector in the netherlands. (rules in UK are bit different). 1) I like what you are doing with the DC breakers however because of the extreme high amount of short circuit current Lithium batteries can generate when shorting due to very low internal resistance it's very possible the Uimp rating of the breaker is to low and so it could just blow and weld together so power is not cut. I always recommend to install fuses since they have way higher breaking capacity. for Lithium batteries Class-T fuses are the best. Victron has a new version of the lynx distributor on the market where you can fit Class-T fuses, I replaced my old distributors with the class-T variant. You can use the breaker as double pole isolator switches but don't rely on them for handling shorts. 2) when operating these breakers with high amp loads you should have the live parts covered or use PPE when operating, it can certainly go wrong so maybe you find a way to install the breakers in an enclosure. Maybe they fit on Dinrail? 3) it might be advisable to make a shutdown procedure and have it on the wall for anyone to know what to do in an emergency. 4) i don't know if you have access to a good quality IR camera, but when you are finished it might be not a bad idea to do some thermographic inspection on the connections when under full load to make sure you don't see hotspots. Do enjoy this lovely set-up I just wanted to share some tips from my experience in practice.

I have also two Seplos BMS (but another type; version 3) and it‘s very important to follow the installation instructions. When you connect in the false order the cable you can destroy the BMS. In my case I have connect the white cable first and the BMS has a big ARC on the connector. The BMS was damaged. The black sensor cable must first connected and then the white cable and at the last the B+ cable in my case. 😅

Hello, Be careful with these isolators, they are directional (there is an arrow). I have connected the battery on the top and the hybrid inverter on the bottom, as it is they main risk (unlimited current from the battery), protection from current flowing the other way is less important as it will be limited by the electronic components. If you have separate charger/inverter devices, you should use 2 isolators, one for each direction of current (and connected together on the battery terminals). It has to do with the way there are dealing with arcs.
