    I'v had the same problem at home and on street chargers . This car is a total pile of crap. Its the car. When you set the car to recharge during preferred times as in offpeak times, the car is so pathetic that it tries to recharge straight away giving me peak rate cost, so i decided that I will set my charger to not turn on until off peak period. Guess what, the car obviously tries to draw electric during peak times and the charger doesnt allow it, so the car then gives up and falls asleep. Doesnt wake up when its programmed to recharge at off peak times (preferred times). So now i am having to stay up until 12:30 at night to plug in the charger and wait around 15 mins to ensure it is charging. How ridiculous. I have programmed the charger to switch off at end of the off peak period as I cannot trust the car. Thiw car has been nothing but a nightmare. If you use street chargers, the cost per mile is twice that of a petrol car.

    • @letsgoelectriclge1320
      @letsgoelectriclge1320 21 день назад

      not sure I follow you to be fair. I have never had a problem after this short video. It has worked well after that. You may need to actually reset you can and start again as you may have done something for it to sleep and not wake up when it needs to charge. What charger are you also using and what help have you searched from electricity provider and the car manufacturer. I have never stayed up for charging. I am infact charging the UPRA this evening and will set to charge at preferred times either in the car or on the App and job is good. Yes it might appear as though its charging but it wont. I have Octo-Aid app that shows exactly when it starts. I am sorry but the car has been amazing to us and I hope you can get this issue sorted so that you can enjoy EV. Yes charging in public chargers is more expensive and only use the public chargers to get home i.e. I will top up only to get home so I can utilise the cheaper rate and reduce my monthly average but charging off peak. This will mean I only stop for 5-10mins on public chargers and charge at home.

    I think you need to confirm and narrow down what is using the electricity. How much is used by the EVs, compared to the heat pump and other appliances? Perhaps you need to take heat pump electricity readings on the 9th, and EV charger readings too? You have used roughly 1020kWh versus 790 kWh of electricity last year. That's 230 kWh more electricity as compared to 280 kWh of gas used last year. It is to be expected that a heat pump heating hot water will be less efficient than heating the home. But maybe you are using a lot more hot water this year as compared to last?

    • @letsgoelectriclge1320
      @letsgoelectriclge1320 2 месяца назад

      I kind of know to be fair but but going it through minutely will be too much. My daughter now plays netball and we are always on the move, so that contributes for sure. I am just please that EVs are really not costing arm and a leg to run. The test for heat pump will be winter. The daikin App has details on and I also have a Octa-Aid app which breaks it down for you each 30 mins with nice colours for red, orane and green for cheap usage. You said heat pump heating the water will be less efficient, I am not sure as I heat the water on cheap times and also have a 30 min heat up around 2030pm so we can have showers after netball. The true test will be winter where I will need to monitor closely for sure. Thanks for the tip.

    Check that your Daikin ASHP Hot Water settings are not configured to constantly reheat the tank, throughout the whole day. This wastes a lot of electricity. Depending on your work and school patterns, I suggest heating it to the higher temperature setting “Comfort mode” 04:00-05:30 and then heat to lower temperature “Eco mode” 14:00-16:00. You could try leaving the Hot Water heating schedule to “Off” for the rest of the 24 hour period

    Have you driven more this year compared to last (e.g. two cars)? Has your heat pump worked more that the gas boiler because it was a wet May? How does your heat pump use compare to the 587kWh gas use last year?

      The honest answer is don't know. I think those variations are difficult to make as they are too many I.e. I could have been on annual leave, from work, could have WFH more, could have visited a relation over a weekend etc. It then becomes not much of a comparison but like using month on month comparisons. The annual one will be more representative of usage although l WFH less this year than last and went away for 3 weeks last year, which l am not doing this year.

    Thanks for sharing. Would love to see how much the heat pump is using KWH input, and then how much heat output. I suppose with 280 ish more kwh of use this year, some of which I think you mentioned in a previous video were for the car charging, the figures will look different. When I have my installation done, I'll have the Open Energy Monitoring kit fitted. All told though, giving what you are getting from your electricity usage, car and heat pump, it looks a very sound investment. Look forward to your solar install and battery videos.

I will check the input on the MMI but last time it was not the same as the phone app which was more confusing. Please let me know more about the monitoring kit as l would love one too. I have a split 14 panel array on my garage, it gives me all my house's energy (electric and hot water via an immersion) for 6 months of the year when coupled with a 6kwh givenergy battery. This works great. For the other 6 months this is enough to run the house with charging the battery and heating the hot water at night. I don't have a heat pump yet, and I suspect this will change the equation a bit. Solar only generates enough energy to run the base load of the house in the winter. So no excess available for heating. I would agree with octopus, I should have put them on my house roof to avoid shading by other houses. Shading has a big effect on spring and autumn. Btw, randomly, I live on the same estate if you want to see the setup and talk it through...

    Seriously consider getting solar first, get a hybrid invertor and then add batteries on if you need them. If you have a EV at home a lot in the day then that and your hot water tank will consume most of your generation. Also my NW facing panels do about 50% of their SE facing counterparts and the allignment runs our house from 4pm to 8pm in the summer. The problem you have is not compaing like for like, get them to come and do a survey and then decide which one you like. P.S. Having a battery that is only there for off-peak charging is a false economy

  • @Biggest-hz7ng
    @Biggest-hz7ng 4 месяца назад

    I would be a tempted by the greater generation of the roof mounted solar and that they are unshaded. How much solar will you lose from both houses shading the garage when the sun is low in the sky? Tim and Kat's Green Walk have a video on simulating shading. You might want to work on the assumption that 1kWh is worth 20p to export to the grid. As you have a newish well insulated house, do you estimate a 10kWh battery would be enough to power the house from one off peak period to the start of the next period in winter given how you have a heat pump?

    • @letsgoelectriclge1320

      Good questions there bud and tricky to know. I think the battery won't be able to in winter but at least it would help 75% of peak then the other 25% would be peak. Just had a visit from another company without booking and although it appeared a lost cause, he was excited about panels on my fence????? I do follow Tim and Kate, might try and find their simulation video. You know what has happened in this research stage is l have managed to have so much information which challenges the other position and in the end, not sure which way to go.

      @@letsgoelectriclge1320 Their simulation video is their latest-but-one video ruclips.net/video/MToBzgvOOhc/видео.html @UpsideDownFork's latest video makes a case for maximising solar export with no battery. Perhaps you don't need that large a battery or a battery at all? I think Tim has also suggested maximising export, and discusses why he didn't add more batteries here ruclips.net/video/_qysulne5g0/видео.html . Battery prices should be dropping as Lithium etc. prices normalise and grid-scale batteries go mainstream. On the other hand, import/export tariffs will change, and a battery might be useful, perhaps for the four hours a day that Agile Import is most expensive?

  • @markwatson2967
    @markwatson2967 4 месяца назад

    It is a complicated equation. I think your approach in using battery for winter and house caseload run off solar in the summer (optimistic to think we will have a summer 🙂) is a good one. Overcast summer days can still generate a lot, possibly enough to fill a battery. The 5kw arrays at our farm charge the 5kw battery really well on half descent days in summer, but pitiful for only a month or so in winter. I do like the GivEnergy batteries. The 13.5 with off grid back up, and 9.5 are my preference. The Sunsynk inverter comes very highly recommended, industry leader in capabilities and conectivity. Maybe matching the 9.5kw battery and Sunsynk would be a viable option? Do share how you get on. Oh, and do check out JoJu Solar. The are a UK top rated installer. I saw them at the Fully Charged show a year or so ago and had a good chat. The Powerwall 3 is supposed to better yet. Likely to come at a premium though.
