Sarah Vaughan | Full Vocal Range
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.5 месяцев назад
The full vocal range of Sarah Lois Vaughan, one of the greatest voices in history. I decided to revise my past vocal range videos using a variety of new clips & old clips and just make one long video as opposed to separating each part by register. You know I had to do something special for Sarah’s upcoming 100th birthday! I have one more long overdue video that will be uploaded on her birthday ...

    I like to win on the point that she didn't know the lyrics. I don't think it was that she didn't know the lyric but singers like her were known for changing lyrics because it was easier to convey a particular message. It was essential to her making this song her own. SHE DID JUST THAT!

    They were both amazing Ella has a certain grandeur that always gave her a slight edge over Sarah don't get me wrong Sarah was blessed with a God given voice I prefer Ella for uptempo swing songs and Sarah for intimate ballads

      She was a true contralto, pretty rare, and at the same time had that full soprano range. She defied categorization.

    People will always have their favorites, choose their sides, make their camps, et cetera; but NO ONE will be able to deny that BOTH of them were vocal titans, both marble pillars in their respective and individual abilities, deliveries and techniques; both equal luminaries in a galaxy of music and most importantly that genre known as jazz in which both set permanent and unforgettable standards…

    I generally dislike these kinds of “contest” when it comes to artistic expression. I love them both but because of my love of opera im more fascinated by Sarah’s voice. Although no one can touch Ella’s scatting. I’m a ballad person and in that arena Sarah Soars!

  • @TahariBlue
    @TahariBlue Месяц назад

    Lets start by saying these are two of the greatest singers ever! As far as scatting , its no comparison Ella wins hands down, she has more vocal agility and creativity in her scatting, and can do it twice as fast as anyone on the planet. I love the tickness of Sarahs voice, and her bottom notes are insane. However when I hear the perfect pitch and diction and cleanliness of Ella's voice especially on her ballads, she puts me in a trance! Her voice is also colorless and colorful at the same time, which gives her a more universal appeal.......its Ella the magnificent for me!!!!!

    There is no doubt Sarah possessed one of the best and most beautiful voices of the 20th century.A vast range, excellent technique, intonation, exceptional ability for improvisation.When listening to her I am in awe of her vocal abilities, but frequently find her over elaborate improvisations, do little to serve the lyrics and the deeper meaning of them'.Everything must change' a good example.Peggy Lee performed this same song live in London 1977. Her subtle phrasing,she gets to the heart of the song, for me sometimes less is more.Peggy did not possess the exceptional voice Sarah was born with.

    If you take her highest note in this piece and compare it to the lowest note, there'll probably be octaves in between. Its the sheer range of her voice that is so spectacular. That and many other features that I couldn't possibly enumerate on a platform like this. The one and only Sassy Vaughan!

    Im am , & have been in awe of both singers from my teenage years. Then when I started extensively collecring their CD's, I found Sarah's repotoire more captivating. However, just lately, I've been mesmerized by the extensive musical renditions of Lena Horne. But the bottom line, - they all are my ladies of song, including, Dina Washington. Now run & tell that!

    One of these mornings You're goin' to rise up singing Then you'll spread your wings And you'll take the sky But till that morning There's a nothin' can harm you With daddy and mammy standin' by Sorry, but all I can think is that that's another way of saying "You're eventually going to die. But don't worry about that now.". Hopefully someone told the baby that daddy and mammy are going to take the sky first. Although, since this was 1949, I'm pretty sure all three (at least daddy and mammy) are pretty close to taking the sky, if they haven't already.

    Ella for me. Sarah always seems to be “putting on a display” rather than singing the song - I find the meaning of the song gets lost. Ella had all the talent and technique but she got out of the way of the song and only used technique to tell the story. Ella =🥇
