The very thought of doing your own maintenance can be daunting hopefully this makes it less scary!
Visit my chanel to see videos of the true king of 90s sportsbikes the Suzuki Gsxr 1100 💪
update. Still riding ..getting ready for my Sunday ride...Had the bike 6 years now. Sold my Suzuki 1300..too heavy
Is it comfortable? Fuck no hahaha
The only thing that scares me about old bikes is abs absence
honestly its really not so bad when you know how to ride a bike with no abs. it comes down to feel and experience. abs is a fail safe but the craft of braking itself is really about skill. im actually really disappointed in myself if i feel abs kick in on my newer bikes. its about the finesse of finding that point before abs kicks in. if you can find that then you will actually out brake abs. just dont snatch the front, preload then progress the strength. 90s bikes offer some really good rider machine feedback honestly you should give it a try :)
I just bought the Gw250 like yours, 2015 with only 130 miles on it. looks really nice can't wait to pick it up in a month
this was my buddies bike and hes only just sold it! its a great little bike. many many many adventures weve had with it. im sure you will have many awesome adventures on yours!
@@Rideitoutyoutube biggest issue im having is which exhaust to get. Im sure theres more out there but the two i like sound of is danmoto xg1 and the yoshimura but i cannot find danmoto xg1 anywhere
Hi my friend,i want to buy one too but im a bit concerned about engine parts, will i be able to find spare parts for it in case there is a problem?
you will still get parts but some are getting rarer... like looms. facebook owners groups were invaluable as you can get all the information and some guys will break bikes for parts. they still have race clubs for these too so race aftermarket or upgrades are readily available. but like any classic vehicle ownership you will need to start joining groups and knowing names of those that know the bikes inside and out :)
Rodriguez Donna Jackson Brenda Brown Mary
I would prefer that bike today over any new bike
My first bike was the kawasaki zxr250c 1991
how many miles you done mate?
14600 dude
I've a 1997 kawasaki Gpz500S and 1996 kawasaki Gpz1100E. No fuel pump, catalyst, ECU, fly by wire, sensors thin seats, or hard suspension. Just easily fixable. Robust. Built to last. Ive had many modern bikes. Ridden 1000's of miles in all weathers since 1985. 80's and 90's are the best bikes. Just don't buy a dog or anything Italian. 😂😂
Hi there, what kind of oil you use in the zxr 400? Just bought one of these bikes 4 days ago, and want to do an oil change. Service manual says i need SG or newer API certificated oil, 10w40 or 10w50 , but ofc there are no SG manufactured yet. The “or newer” part would cover my question, in case I wouldt read a forum topic about full synthetic modern oils can make the clutch slippy and i tought would rather ask from someone who already have tested experiences with exact brands/ types of oil. Any suggestion mate?
i used semi to get best of both worlds and had no issues at all. join the zxr400 enthusiasts group on Facebook. great info and hard to find parts its helped me on many occasions :)
Heavy duty diesel oils are a good option. They do not have the additives that can make your clutch slip. If you're very paranoid look for JASO MA or MA2 certification. I ran diesel oils in my motorcycles for years and never had any problems with the clutches.
I've got a GSXR1100, 1990, upside down fork first edition in blue and white. Love the bike, like you say, uncomfortable but loads of fun. 👍
Who knows which kawa had the 2 round headlights back in the i think later 90s? I always saw one of those on my way to school and i thought it looked so amazing.
Hey really started to enjoy the video but the music was is too loud...had to back out. keep up the great content
We're did u get the tyres from?
Get rid of the shite music 🎉😮😮😮
bit hard now...... the videos over 2 years old lol
@@Rideitoutyoutube what jet sizes did u use 125 ...or big bore 🤔
i am so glad this is not an Indian Review using an Engish title for clickbait. Thank you for your honest review!
no worries dude. thanks for taking the time to let me know! its appreciated!
i am from argentina and there are very little reviews about this motorcycle. i've been thinking about getting it for a while now and i think this solidified my curiosity!@@Rideitoutyoutube
I mothballed my CBR1000RR and got a '99 Kawasaki ZX-7R without traction control and ABS. What a colossal increase in driving pleasure. A motorcycle and not a rolling data center with 200 hp. I don't give a damn about these cock comparisons about who has more power and electronics on board. I don't see why I should pay more and more money for a motorcycle that is more and more powerful and therefore needs even more electronics to catch the ponies again. Let's be realistic: without electronic assistance systems, the motorcyclist of the 21st century will immediately lie on his ass. But without me! I'm riding a real men's motorcycle again
totally agree. the skill and craft of riding is definitely aided by electronics.... if not replaced. i prefer my bikes to be raw
Delphi EFI changed to Bosch system on the newer ones
Just a quick point, on the indicator switch, they weren't reinventing the wheel here, that type of switch was common decades ago 70s and 80s, the push to cancel came later, oh yeah and on the new ones it is push to cancel 😊
the newer one has a single sided swing arm too! and a tft display! i still love mine but i dont use it much at all lately :(
Where did you get the hand gards please
Just eBay cheap stuff. I bought some Amazon ones for my other bike that were just as good 🤘
Hi, do you still have you 310r? Any updates so far? I really enjoyed the video mate!
I do still have it 🤘 it's not my main bike anymore she runs and goes like she should but the battery keeps dying as I don't get the chance to ride it much
good to hear that!@@Rideitoutyoutube
@@Rideitoutyoutubesolution.... Optimate duo 1 😊
My first bike is a cbr250rr and I live it.. great bije to start on
id love to try one!
What make is the after market exhaust? They tend to be louder than the original!
I believe it's a black widow exhaust. It's not stock it's gone from a twin pipe to a single but does sound nice!
I ride a 99 r6 and it don't half make me smile
You should do a 00's, 10's and 20's as well.
I could well do actually, been very busy this end but will be back onto RUclips rather soon 🤘
Fair play i thought I was the only one daft enough to do a bit off proper off roading with one of these. I run the 150 kit with a 24mm mikuni bit of porting still on 17 inch wheels with competition trials tyre on the rear and a Chinese trail tyre on the front 👍
Oh I really put it through some paces and pay and play enduro days... Never missed a beat proper little trooper 🤘
@@Rideitoutyoutube shame I can't send you my vid pay n play day abram motopark. Dropping the gearing down to a 12 tooth front made a big difference but I started out with the lowest expectations from the big bore but the combination of my other tuning and the big bore actually it's quite firey certainly from the day I brought it back from the superbike factory brand new it wouldn't have pulled the skin off a rice pudding 😂
@@stephenbates8370 🤣🤣🤣 yea these are gutless after 20mph but I now have a 250 which is far more powerful and also weighs 30kg less... No going back now 🤣🤣
@@Rideitoutyoutube I've been choosing mine over me 2016 crf250r true story. The forks on me honda need a rebuild there torchering me. Justin Wilson(British enduro champion)is the guy putting on the pay n play he says I should be an ambassador for the sport I only get past by the proper enduro competitors even on the lexmoto that gets a mixed response as you can imagine.I'm an ex junior road racer/fab racing nutter The other bizzare thing is I have a mechanical aorta(heart valve) the rule book went in the bin a long time ago don't get me wrong i find i a lot harder than when i was a teenager but i run with technique rather than muscle power😂. thinking on have you still got the bike do you want to sell it your on 18 n 21 inch wheels aren't you I could do with that now winter is coming I'd stick fim enduro tyre's on the trials tyre don't like the heavy mud.👍
@@stephenbates8370 I actually sold it about a year back now. Sold the bike to a bloke and made friends and the wheels sold to a subscriber who couldn't believe it was me 🤣🤣 he showed me photoshopped versions of my bikes photos and all sorts and made good friends with him too. That bike was nothing but positive vibes. I'm still very fond of it. It might be one I'd try find again years later you never know! I still check the reg out to see if it's still going. Sadly ATM it's not 😓
Listening to you being scared about not having abs , traction control makes me happy I grew up in the 90s GSXR / Fireblade era , god help you if you rode a real 90s bike or even a 90s 250 2 stroke
I'm not scared .... I prefer it lol it's that the younger generation that relies on it. My day job is a motorcycle instructor 🤣🤣
@@Rideitoutyoutube you should see the motorcycle instructors here in Norway😂😂, they can’t even adjust a chain. Every time they come to our workshop the bikes are a complete wreck 🤦🏻♂️
And let’s not forget that the ZXR400 would absolutely whoop a brand new Ninja 400. Almost twice the power and around 20-30mph higher top speed.
it would absolutely destroy a ninja 400 without trying hahaa...even handles waaayyyyy better than a ninja 400 but in all fairness the zxr aged very well!
@@Rideitoutyoutube they do age very well, they still look and sound the tits. I started road riding on a CBR400rr and then went on to a SRAD750. I have a CB1000r now, but I still have my old ZX9r C2 to play with. Oh, and a Blade 954 track bike 🤭
Ive got a kawasaki zx7r and i love it i wouldn't sell it for anything
my dad had a 92 zx7r..... same thing but his back (and mine couldnt hack it) he street fightered his so he could ride it longer,..... i sold the zxr 400 as i couldnt bring myself to chop it and street fighter it. i miss it though. it was fun!
Big ‘90s sport bike fan.. so much so I have a few, ‘90 Kawasaki ZXR750 H2, ‘98 Suzuki GSXR750 SRAD, ‘99 Honda Fireblade, ‘99 Suzuki TL-R, ‘04 Kawasaki ZX12R, and most recent purchase, a ‘91 Honda CBR1000F 😎 So yeah, love em! 😁 Edit. Nice video.. great to see some 1990s bikes getting some love ❤️
Cheers dude 🤘90's really had character in comparison to modern day machines. I've recently sold my zxr unfortunately my back really didn't like that position at all 😓 part of me wanted to street fighter it but I didn't want to bastardise a classic 😓
@@Rideitoutyoutube Thats a shame, but i understand back pain.. i have a spinal fusion & artificial disc replacement.. so i dont ride far 😄 Ride safe bro ✌
Did you change the front sproket to give it more room end speed or more accseliration?
Depends if you go up or down a tooth. 1 tooth at the front is 3 at the back..... But the opposite way. 1 down at the front is the equivalent to 3 up at the rear... That's more acceleration less top speed. One up at the front is like 3 down on the rear meaning less acceleration but better top speed. Careful you don't chase the top speed too much as the engine won't have the power for that final drive top speed making the bike slower. Careful with acceleration if you go that way as you could shoot to 40mph but top out at 45 but be slower in acceleration due to gear shifts. It's all about finding balance
@@Rideitoutyoutube thanks 👍🏻 what would you recommend doing with this bike sproket wise?
I own a 95 Ninja ZX600c8 and it fires up right away with no choke no issues. You may need to look into tuning your carbs up some to help with the cold starts and it will help performance
The zxr was always a slow to warm up bike. Sadly I had to let go of it due to the ergos and my back 😓 I absolutely loved the machine but I sold it to a lady who absolutely loves it and looks after it 🤘
better looking than anything else kawasaki has come out with since, only kawi bike that looks better is the zx7r
I dunno..... The 2013 636 definitely takes it for me but one thing I will say about the zxr....... It's aged like a superior fine wine... Still looks 👌 even by today's standards
were did you get the leavers from mate
If I remember right I just painted the original ones
@@Rideitoutyoutube they look mint mate im gonna do the same ahha
might be a shout to sign up with amazon affiliates, just leave some links for stuff like that below and get some small income from however many people see it, you tend to show a lot of amazon gems in the videos you've made.
Yea I kinda really should but no idea how to set that up lol
Good to see you back! Your Zontes 310R review influenced me to buy it, it has been good so far. Please do an update on how the bike has been holding up. Would you still recommend it?
Cheers dude! I still deep down love the bike, but a few things have really been frustrating. The biggest part is getting parts. I will be doing a video about it though but maybe once she's back up and running and I have the radiator 🤘
Good to see you back on RUclips, sometimes life gets in the way of our videos, I've not posted in almost a year, although we did have a very long cold and wet winter so motorcycle camping videos had to be put on hold.
It's been a very long winter! It is nice to be back! Definitely do some videos Michael you have some really good knowledge and ideas dude! 🤘
Good to see ya back. The garage is looking good. Glad the new job is going well bud. Looking forward to the next vid
Cheers dude! It's been a while but it feels really good to put out another video. Got a few half prepped I need to finish up aswell but all in good time 🤘🤘
Enjoyed this pal 👌🤜
Cheers buddy. I lost loads of footage but the final tour will be filmed shortly 🤘
Where did you get the seat
It's a seat cover for a pit bike. Staple gun it around and job done
@@Rideitoutyoutube what's your Instagram I would like to follow bro
Now at 40 I can finally both afford to buy and insure the bikes I lusted after in Bike Magazine in the 90s. Any recommendation for a good sporty 90s bike that a pillion can actually ride as well? I had a Thundercat for ten years, a ZZR 250 before that and (my favourite) TZR125 before that, (and a Fizzy for a year) but I’ve only ridden a Vespa 125 moped for the last few years in central London.
Ah central London! I work in Dagenham just outside E6 🤘 .... 90's bikes for pillions I'd possibly recommend anything with a more plush seat that's like a bench than a sportier style. The zxr400 I owned would leave a pillion super high up, folded like a deck chair and leant all over my back loading my wrists of my weight and that of my passenger. Zzr600 is good shout though! Just the ulez issue with a 90's bike 😓 they did make a Suzuki bandit 400.... Rare but that would be an absolute gem if you like the smaller displacement motorcycle 👌 they did make a Kawasaki zzr400 aswell dude 😉 also quite rare but they are about!
@@Rideitoutyoutube I'm planning the move out of London so really want to splash out and enjoy the not so sensible bikes. I might well get a ZZR600 for pillion and something silly (R6, ZXR636 ETC) for just me. Can't wait to get out of Central London and ride some bikes with real power again!
@@rrwholloway oh yes lol soon as i can i too shall leave london! i honestly enjoy old bikes more than the new
To be honest Mid 80s and 90s sportbikes are the peak of sportsbike designs. Mid 80s and 90s sportsbike designs are better than the current motobike designs in my opinion. They aesthethically unique and beautiful awesome. With a boxy fairings, round/square headlamp just perfect...
I can't say I totally agree with you but the styling of each decade is always iconic 🤘 my childhood was the 90's so I love 90's stuff but my teens were the 2000's ... I like the new stuff but the power and packed with aids is not really as pure as I would like it to be.
I agree. Mid 80s to mid 90s is the aesthetic peak. Before that they're Cafe racers, afterwards too agressively insectile (and blandly all look the same)
@@harryflashman4542 the unique point of the mid 80s to mid 90s sportbikes (especially sports fairings) designs is: you can feel the "fun to ride" aura just looking at it. Nowadays you need to ride it to know is it fun to ride or not because the current designs are kind of bland.
@@mamoruchiba3301 I think it's because 80s to 90s sport bikes design was straight from racing. They were road legal race bikes. Whereas once the sport bike became popular every street bike received maxed out aggressive styling. They are so over-hyped aesthetically that they all look like two wheeled insects. Just overkill. Too many vents, louvers, angles, slants and anatomic details. I like the basic rounded simple fairings on early sport bikes best. They're there for a purpose rather than a design statement.
People that have lexmoto lxr say that they have either electrical issues or water gets into sparkplug but I guess they just don't realise that isolation tape would fix it. However I love it, I have no issues with my lxr sy, cheap parts and very much a head turner with its fat tyres and people are amazed that it's only 125cc
Thing is there are reputable Chinese bikes out there!... I bought a kurz fs250 and that was everything that is the stigma of Chinese but lexmoto, keeway, sinnis seem to be brilliant value for money. As long as you are smart enough to solve minor issues and disciplined enough to do maintenance...... These bikes are worth their weight in gold 🤘
@@Rideitoutyoutube they really are value for money! Knowing that if needed, a bigger engine almost up to 400cc can be put with no changes to the chassis is a huge plus. I do my checks every time before I set off, takes a little time but it's worth it. Better safe than sorry
@@ilegaldrfit8415 you have no excuse! I showed you what to look for! 😂😂😂🤘
@@Rideitoutyoutube you did, I'd bring some red bull but not sure what days you're at the pad 😉👍 great tutor with great vibe, couldn't asked for anything more ❤️
@@Rideitoutyoutube keep up with your vids too, great and detailed content 👍👍
Great video and info, thank you
You're welcome dude 🤘
I had Suzuki SV 1000 S.. it was a but to much for me , tried a couple of 600 and settled with this little beast.. and i love it all the way.. Apart from some parts are a bit harder to find bcs its an older bike ( mine is 1998 ) it works perfect for me to ride it around the town and enjoy it up to 10.000 rpm.
Honestly anything more than 65 bhp is over kill for the roads dude 🤘it's good to hear other people also find excessive power a bit too much aswell
@@Rideitoutyoutube Sometimes when i wanna ride fast i have no controll and every next corner gotta be faster the previouse so I think i dont need that in my life :D ZXR 400 is fast and agile and im happy with what it can do but there is still a limmit that i cant cross and it keeps me safe in my skillrange , if that makes sence :))
@@davidmarkovic6369 totally makes sense. My issue is I love going fast, I'm keeping up with the big litre bikes on a 300cc in the Twisties but that's full throttle. The zxr obviously you need to hold back it is by all definition...fast... The extra power of a 600 or a 1000cc would put me in a box. You can't ride those bikes like you would a small displacement bike. The biggest thing to me however is actually that I love to use all of the bike.... Can't do that on a 1000cc unless you're at a track. I love going through the rev range and the gear box and using momentum. It's much more fun riding a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow 🤘
@@Rideitoutyoutube tottally.. SV1000S you put it in 3rd or 4th and you ride it like a scooter 😂 pritty boring and its 2 big and heavy , its like he is my master not the way around :)) but the look of that 190 tire on the back is sometimes worth it all 😁
@@davidmarkovic6369 🤣🤣 oh I agree a semi auto is bland lol. But that rear wide tyre always makes a bike look mean and less of a toy 😓 not as nimble though!
Good bike
