This was great, it's actually very relevant to me starting to homeschool my high school child. She has ADHD and that is also a factor. Yes to all of this. Thank you ❤❤❤
I wish I could like this video again. Such a simple and effective way to homeschool!
Yes! I'm just starting out homeschooling with my 4yo for 'kindy' and a number of my friends are in the same stage but with girls. Boys are sooo different! And my boy is so different and what I'd love to do for our homeschool so I'm really learning a lot right now! Thanks for your insights 🥰 from a fellow Aussie!
I have enjoy all ur videos…thank u for ur wisdom
It was more authentic years ago. Everything has gone aesthetic...
Please share the name of the dinner you made, it looks amazing!
it was a curry of some sorts, I love a curry and so I don't really have a recipe!
Where is the video on mindset?
ruclips.net/video/icicoizY-S8/видео.html
I am a firm believer in not starting kinder until six. Even then i let them play a lot and do crafts a lot of read alouds. Kinder is all about reading prereading skills and math with confidence and Bible and Catechism. Mostly play. I repeat mostly play. Great video .
I left kindergarten not being able to read or write my own name. My step mom took and gave me hooked on phonics. By 6th grade I was reading at a college level.
Omg I have also struggled with ALL of these things homeschooling my boys.
Okay I was just stressing while making dinner here because my 1st grader HATES creative writing . But it's also because he is struggling with reading so it makes sense. He does like handwriting, math , art and when I read stories. This was very comforting. Thank you!
Boy mama here ×3 I completely agree with my boys it's less is more. They highly dislike the fluff which I tried for so long to push!
I love this but my boys are very destructive and their way of independent play is destroying things and o would love to know if you experienced Thai and what you may have done about it. Mine are 5&7
I don't allow it, I am a child trainer, so when behaviour like this creeps in (it did with my 5th child and fourth boy) I simply trained him not too, you may like the child training series. thesimplemamma.com/category/motherhood/child-training/?doing_wp_cron=1727390290.9989929199218750000000
V well explained thanks sis for ur efforts
I’m just here for your lovely accent, haha just kidding. Love from the Midwest of USA
This video was very encouraging. My son hates book work. He's 7. Every day is a battle to do school work. There's so much social pressure and familial pressure to push him harder in school. But this year, I have really slowed down. It has improved both his retention and both of our attitudes 😂
Such good practical tips! Thanks! I have three boys so far, my oldest is almost 5. Such a good reminder to wait till they’re ready. Subscribed!
Wow, you have people coming to your house every year to check on how you’re homeschooling?! That’s not fun. Props to you!
Durenda Wilson is amazing. I love her books/wisdom. I made the mistake with my oldest boy to try to push him way too early. I wonder how different his learning journey could have been if I hadn’t. My second daughter is the same way. This video was very encouraging.
I have been feeling like this too. I don’t get on often and when I do it all seems so vain and empty. I also don’t want to contribute to putting out things that just waste other peoples lives as well.
RUclips is my problem. I have RUclips premium, so without the ads, and now with the RUclips shorts it’s very addicting. I’ve deleted my app before. I might soon, but with all these juicy presidential videos, it’s hard right now. I love how you say resting can be doing something, totally agree!
Yes. How do you manage clutter with a growing family
you have to go through what you own at least twice a year, and evaluate, but as you become better, you let less in, an things begin to manage themselves.
I also struggle with this. I deleted my I stage an account, and had my husband change my Facebook password and log me out months ago. I still struggle with RUclips but it’s gotten so much better. I’m in a season of life right now where I have a newborn and toddler and am trying to find out new normal on top of healing from birth still (and having a rough time from it truthfully) trying to figure out some things and learning to listen to the Lord on top of it. Social media I believe can be like poison, seems good at first but quickly can taint you and your mind
yes I very close to buying a flip phone, just so I don't have the carry about youtube feature in my home!
This is such an interesting take on social media and honestly I couldn’t agree more! I have been struggling with socials and really wanting to come away from it but your perspective I think has really helped me to see it in a different way that feels so much less “helpful” as I tried to get myself to believe that socials were. I always still clung to them because “what if I miss something helpful? Something that can help me be a better mother or wife or homemaker?” But I see that content for content sake it nothing but a screen grab and really does dilute the value
For the record - I’d buy any course you made! 😆
Preach girl! 👍
I want to do this just step away completely, but also feel the struggle of trying to find some way to make money (currently working on building a YT channel and blog, and praying about what to do). Though I usually do a 30 day+ break at the holidays and always find it refreshing.
Wow thank you so much for your video!! I feel you! An it’s so good to know I am not alone! ❤
Thank you so much, I do believe I might need need a screen break. Or maybe just an earbud break. My personal downfall tends to be listening to amazing educational podcasts that make me unable to be present with my kids. Thank you so much for this❤
I find the hardest social media deal with to be RUclips. A lot of people don't consider it social media, but it really is! It's driven by algorithms to keep us engaged and has a social element of making comments. I have managed to give up all others, no problem. But RUclips is a serious struggle for me.
Short form content is especially bad too
I agree, when I stopped watching youtube for a while, when I came back, the algorithm hit me with all kids on sad stores, to keep me clicking! I time block my youtube use, either to a small window on weekdays or a Saturday.
Try signing out of your account. This completely changed the way I use RUclips.
I love this
Thank you so much for sharing this. I really appreciate your honest evaluation of this issue and your integrity for not adding to the problem and becoming a stumbling block for others by being mindful of the content you create. It is so refreshing to see these days. My insta account was locked because of an alleged breech of guidelines or something. I hadn't posted anything to it for over 12 months but didn't bother appealing it, instead I just saw it as the perfect time to step away from it completely and have never looked back. I too am only on facebook to post updates for a local homeschool group I coordinate but would love if there was another way to communicate as I would be more than happy to let that go too! Keep up the amazing work. Thanks for being a blessing!
I love your videos. Thank you for making them.
I let go of social media years ago on principle. Recently, I rejoined Facebook so that I could know what's going on in our homeschool group since they only post on FB. I check that, but the rest? It's wasted time. There is nothing there. I actually felt ill when I rejoined and didn't log on for awhile! Another interruption that has to be monitored is texting during the day. I have to work on being intentional about that, too. Thanks for this video! I love love love your channel and your real content. :)
yes I have only had facebook for the last ten years at least for the homeschool group I am part of and now some blogging groups and church groups. My social account like that have become 100% utilitarian and scarce.
I quit facebook in 2014 when i went on holidays overseas and only had wifi in the hotel and was too tired to scroll. Never looked back. I use it for marketplace and messenger (but even group messenger chats feel tiresome). Instagram is another beast as i love getting styling ideas and recipe ideas etc. what i am trying to do is only consume content i seek out there for those reasons and skip the feed. Then i use my media time to watch movies which i love (even if it takes me a week of lunchtimes to finish). Movies enrich my human experience not detract from it (in the way some people enjoy reading).
I did this back in 2021 all I have now is RUclips best thing I ever did ❤ Well done Mama🎉
Thanks this was helpful ❤
More than the families attempting to be aesthetically pleasing, is the ones that are trying to recreate public school at home. I really believe that those channels are doing the newer homeschool families a disservice. How many have given up before they ever began? If you come in with that mentality you will never survive homeschooling. You are completely spot on. Children do not need formal education until at least age 6. I’ve seen the fruits and know that there’s no rush. There’s a mom out there that I literally had to turn off and wanted to scream at through my screen. She has a five year old, first time homeschool mom that was a former 1st grade public school teacher. She gets on here and puts down curriculums, pretends to at all know what she’s talking about and has ZERO homeschool experience. That, I don’t understand. Why are you even filming a homeschool channel your first year? Just makes me cringe.
