I thought George had passed on but I’m delighted that he is still here with us.
Great guy... Had the pleasure of being in Joe's company all day yesterday, he's my Uncle's son in law & attended my dad's funeral service... Joe had some amazing stories from his days at Celtic Park plus playing for Scotland where he scored in his debut game against Sweden... Other great stories about, Jinky, Kenny Dalglish, Tommy, Jock Stein... Plus charity games he played with George Best... Priceless craic, will be catching up again soon for a family day out... HH 🍀
One of the greatest players i have ever seen, the lad juggling or keepy up all round the park....... the best ever, he was as good if not better than the kaiser.
I’m a die hard Jambo but George Connelly and Jimmy Johnstone are 2 off my best ever Scottish players. I got his book as a present a few years ago and would love to have his autograph on it. I know he played for Sauchie Juniors and was a taxi driver but I think it is very important that we give him the space he needs. Take care George.
The socks were red though
@@davedoogan6650 We’ll never know, but I think it’s much more likely they were orange than red.
@@P4ddyBh0y They were red ffs have a look at the real pics
I was there that day with my dad
agents had reach even them
Saw big Jungle a few times. Genius player.
We could have won the lot in 70 having won won the league cup earlier in the season 1 0 against st johnstone and had the league in the bag but lost to aberdeen 3 1 4 days before the leeds 2nd leg at hampden by some realy dodgy ref decisions by ref bobby davidson then lost final to feyonoord won the glasgow cup in august 19 70 held over from 19 69 3 1 a great jimmy quinn goal celts played a reserve side against rangers so cud have swept the board again in 19 70 but got 3 out off 5
Rangers get lap off honour stopped after this lousy losers big Tommy decked one off the smelly huns
That goal he got the 3nd goal in the 4 0 pumping off rangers in 69 Cup final a John greig howler and his pen in the 73 final when we were robbed when jinkys goal was chalked off at 2 2 rip George hail hail💚🍀☘️
A great professional, a true legend for Hibs and Left very good memories for Celtic as well.
Greatest ever Celtic midfielder Bobby Murdoch, I winced in pain when I googled what age he would have been when he left only for you to tell me he was 28. I did not realise this until right now. Oh and I just bought Bobby Murdoch biography from Amazon, different class, by David Potter. Now, I must get back to work. Thanks for the tip James.
This is superb. I have whinged before about pointless and irritating music despoiling the excellent narrations on Tweet Celtic. This, in contrast, typically allows the drama of the narration, images and footage to stand on its own, meaning one can engage without having to block out extraneous noise. Narration, imagery and footage are brilliant, and must have involved a lot of work.
Celtic history in Europe after 1967 is heartbreaking for us who lived through it. In hindsight after Feyenoord Scotland itself was never as good. Self doubt and deans penalty and the butchers from Atletico. And then the real Madrid semi was the end of gallus. It was recaptured by the squad that lost to porto. The Scottish media has always been and still is the enemy of Scottish football.
Can't believe you don't have 100000 subs.
Cheers bud enjoyed so racall wearing that strip with the collar way back in the days and among then the rangers stronghold . Great days in the game , and see the grounds back them days , the state of park , yet just got on with it And for me they were better all around footballers than todays spoilt lot . As for George Connelly a cracking footballer and sad how things went later in his life seems .
Tonight's entertainment sorted 🍀
Absolutely brilliant
Thanks for the memories mate.
Brilliant as usual
Magic stuff 👊☘️
Another great show HH DUBLIN
Thankyou James. I can't imagine the toil and research that has gone into an episode like this. Learned a lot from this and was entertained. Love to have seen the brawl.thanks again and cheers from Melbourne.

We owe them so much. Glad my Dad's generation got to witness this.
Referee Michel Kitabdjian ordered Celtic to change their socks. It seems that the team had travelled with only their usual white socks and borrowed a red set from Leeds.
@@asd36f Probably orange socks, according to most members of the team that night. Celtic thought it had been agreed the home team would change if the referee required it, so didn’t brink any change kit. Revie denied it and wanted to put Stein in a quandary. Blue or Orange would have given him a much more difficult choice than blue or red.
I was 12 years of age and at this game that day before the game started i was standing up at the no4 in celtic end as ushall with my big brother and friends my big brother took it upon him self to move me down to the trackside right behind the goal were we met my uncle and my cousin just by chance my brothers left me there and i could sense thing were not right just before final whistle and some how managed to make my way back through the crowd to the exit were i had the privilege to watch the fans invade the pitch and watch the players come back out it was magical and the walk on after the 3rd Goal was the best ever HAILHAIL FOR THE MEMORIES
Official crowd was 60 thousand 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was 12 and at the game more like 90 thousand
Get it right players that rangers couldn't afford
I remember watching him as a player at Morton. I think I’m right in saying that he was player of the year at one time.
@@Eastlomond Yes, 1978-79 Football Writers’ player of the year. He had to work a shift on the roads that day before going to the presentation.
Lovin the 70s , good and bad , back when football was great !
Great footage, thak you, hail hail
I am a bluenose born in 1960, therefore, I remember this period quite well. The difference technically between Rangers & Celtic was clear as sunlight, Celtic just had better players & played a free flowing game that was the club's hallmark. George Connolly was so gifted, as was Macari, KD was quite obviously very special. However, a player that maybe was a bit unsung, but I always admired was big Tom Callaghan, he was a graceful player who was brilliant at running & ghosting past opposition players. I see Harry Hood's daughter commenting here, how nice that is, he was a fine player & business man too. Very enjoyable & very well narrated. Thank you, it is always good to listen to people's perspectives & you presented this in a most excellent manner.
@@KeithWilliamMacHendry Thanks very much, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and positive comment.
Thanks for kind words ,Nicky ,Harry’s son 🙏
Superb,i grew up with these Bhoys my heroes,i was a 9 Yr old in this season.God Bless George Connolly
