    Oh yes reread Harry Potter! I’ve found that it hits so different as an adult. And ok, there are 7 books and some of them are long, but they’re easy reads! Alternative: if you do audiobooks, and if you have Libby for audio loans, the Jim Dale narration of the series is great!

    Totally agree about "My Dark Vanessa". All of the dark morally black/grey books I've read haven't made me feel uncomfortable at all like that book did. I loved it though because I think the author did a good job at portraying (or "expressing"? couldn't find the right word 😅) all of the complex emotions and events that goes on in situations like that....I found "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" to be very unique. I felt like I legit watched a biopic (in my mind) after reading that book...I'm excited to put the Kristin Hannah books you've mentioned on my TBRs for next year! And I'm hoping to get into fantasy more. I almost DNF'd ACOTAR, but I enjoyed "Her Soul to Take" so, maybe there's hope 😊

    I really liked Happiness For Beginners, it was my first book by the author. But I am also a sucker for books that have hiking woven into the story. Put me on a trail and I am half way to liking the book already. LOL. (although warning: Something negative happens to an animal in the story. That made me kinda upset.)

    Divine Rivals was so underwhelming for me because I don’t think Rebecca Ross knew what she wanted it to be. It’s like a high and low fantasy at the same time and it didn’t work. I’m all for a romance that takes place in a fantasy world but I was confused whether it was supposed to be the real world or not and it took me so long to understand that Oath is the city and Cambria is the country. She focused so much on the romance that the world was so underdeveloped and empty when the war and everything was a big part of the story too, not just the romance. Also I felt so deceived because I thought that neither of them knew who they were writing these letters to but Roman knew the entire time it was Iris, like sorry but that was such a sad excuse of an enemies to lovers story (I think I’ve read like 2 good ones)

    Nightingale is one of my top 3 favorite/life changing books I’ve ever read. I read it the first time in 2019 and again this year and it had the same impact on me as it did the first time. It’s amazing and I recommend it to anyone.

    I agree about A Man Called Ove but loved the movie! I struggled to get through the book, but I love the author so much! It’s funny hearing your opinion on Ruthless Vows because what you said was how I felt about Divine Rivals, I felt so disappointed but wanted to read Ruthless Vows anyways and ended up LOVING it!

    A Man Called Ove was my first Fredrik Backman book and still my favorite. Ove was such a quirky curmudgeon and underneath just a lonely, kind soul. I was pleasantly surprised at Happiness for Beginners. I think I read it because you mentioned it and went in blind and ended up enjoying it.

    Well since you asked, I disagree about A Man Called Ove, loved it. I agree about Tessa Bailey, all her books make me cringe, so I'm done trying. Worst book of the year for me was Shark Heart. Merry Christmas!

  • @leighamontgomery981
    @leighamontgomery981 8 дней назад

    I know that A Little Life is a well-regarded book, but the only thing I’ve heard about it that stuck with me was that it’s like “suffering porn.” You saying there are too many heavy topics seems to match that. No thank you. And, with respect, I don’t think Elin Hilderbrand is meant to be mystery or thriller. Some of her books have elements of suspense, but that’s not her genre. I liked The Identicals quite a lot. And I will say, many of her characters are deeply unlikeable, and I have nearly rage quit a few because of characters being ridiculous, but then I remind myself that characters don’t have to be likeable if they’re relatable and realistic. And I’ve enjoyed every book of hers that I finished. Definitely not saying you should keep trying, just sharing my opinion 😊 Absolutely nothing wrong with talking about books you don’t like…that’s not being a hater, that’s being honest and genuine. ❤

    I completely agree about the Tessa Bailey book. I read the first book in that series and it was really good. But I was cringing almost from the beginning of Merry Ever After. DNF’d that one. Now I’m nervous to do any others in the Under the Mistletoe series.

    I like that you made a "Least favorite books" video because it helps me learn your tastes in books.....I DNF'd "A Little Life". Mostly because I think I just wasn't in the mood to read it. But the fact that it was third person, very long, and had many characters didn't help either. I really do want to try to read it again because I want to see the what the big deal is and why some people love it. "Never Never" by Colleen Hoover was the book I rated the lowest this year, which is shocking because I loved every other book I've read of hers....I can't wait to see what you think of the Legacy of Gods books! 🙂

    Okay, I have seen a lot of hype about The Nightingale. I have read the first 100 pages and I am not being grabbed by this book. What am I missing? I like historical fiction but so far I find this book very mundane.
