One Mile More
Добавлен 13 дек 2012
The name "One Mile More" is inspired by the Bible passage Matt 5:41. In it Jesus says "If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two". The way I understand it, in that time a Roman soldier could tell a civilian to carry his pack, which contained his gear, (and weighed around 66 lbs) a mile and the civilian was required by law to do so. You may have heard it said to "go the extra mile" with some task. I get this wrong more often than I'd care to admit, but my aspiration with this life is to do the best I can (the extra mile) with what I've been given to bring glory to God. Hopefully through my various projects, travel and likely screwing around, with this RUclips channel I can inspire others to do the same. Plus, with my love of traveling, it just sounds cool.
$2500 Versys 650 to the Arctic - ep2 Tuktoyaktuk
In this video I ride my $2500 2016 Kawasaki Versys 650 past the Arctic Circle to Tuktoyaktuk at the top of Northwest Territories Canada and on the Arctic Ocean. Along the way, I stop at Dawson City to replace my front tire with a Continental TKC 80 to ease my way up the Dempster Highway and then ride the Alaska Highway home.

In this video, I use a combination of parts from Givi, SW Motech, V Stream, Seat Concepts, Delkevic, Puig, Touratech, MSR, Motoz, Continental, Shinko and others to build it into my favorite touring/adventure bike. Including a spare tire mount to help me ride into the Arctic Circle to Tuktoyuktuk in Northwest Territories Canada!

Have a Question what mostly ur speed traveling in gravel roads up to Tuktoyaktuk..,TIA God Bless u Brother im planning by June next year with my Honda CBR300 kind of sportbike but i think she gonna make it in Gods will
@@hampasluparider4717 if I remember right, most of the time I would travel at around 60 MPH if it was smooth. I would slow down for the rough sections to try to keep from hammering the bike. I would think the CBR would make it OK just might need to slow down a little more in the rough stuff. Biggest difference would come if it gets really wet. I probably didn’t even need the aggressive TKC 80 front tire, but it did help. Seems like they don’t make them anymore though. Little trickier finding aggressive tires for a 17 inch front. The Shinko 705 might be just fine. Thanks for watching and commenting! Ride safe and God bless! 👍🏻

Wow. I’ve watched some other videos of this journey, but you managed to capture the magnificence of this great place so beautifully. It really felt like we were along with you for the ride. It must’ve been quite a bit of work putting this video together, but I tell ya, those of us lucky to have watched it really did enjoy it. thanks for tips I plan to do this trip next year on KTM390ADV I did 5k miles 3 years ago on 3 week trip I used very small tent But do see value on bigger tent I person less is more but comfort is critical for long trip
@@williamwallace5711 good to hear, sounds like the 390 would be a fun bike 👍🏻 As for tents, I suppose it’s a matter of preference. I totally get the whole minimalist approach and understand why people prefer smaller tents. But this weekend I went out for a ride and used my old two-man tent and was missing my big one. Nice to be able to stand up inside. However, it is a whole lot bigger and bulkier to pack, and of course, heavier… Personally, I prefer the bigger tent, but I get the impression I am part of the minority. Most important I feel, is that you’re getting out there. All the best on your future adventures and thank you for watching and commenting!

The slower you go the more you see. Great video. 👍👍 The Versys seemed to do well. You had very good weather.
@@dougnash6316 very true! There’s probably as many ways of doing that trip as there are people that take it. Since taking the trip, I’ve seen other videos of people that saw way more sites along the Dempster than I did. I do enjoy riding at a slightly faster pace, but I’m sure I missed a lot. Guess I’ll have to do it again 😉 Yes, the Versys did just fine and probably would’ve been OK without the more aggressive front tire since, as you stated, the weather turned out quite good. Thanks so much! I’m honestly not sure about the factory luggage. I’ve never looked closely at the way they mount to the bike. I’ve always thought it’s cool how they latch on without a bunch of bars going everywhere. I suppose worst case scenario, you could wrap a ratchet strap around them to hold them on.
