Marathon Training - Running Vlog - Come on a Recovery Run with me
Thank you so so much❤❤❤
Good effort mate, done the right thing and listened to your body! Time trial marathon is solid, no race buzz, out on your own doing laps is solid. I’m with you in regards to the Alphafly 3. I find them awful to run in, still prefer the 1st version, however I tend to go for vapours for all around comfort in long races
@@Guybrush99 thanks so much I appreciate it 🙏 I definitely found the right aerobic effort for me to maintain and i definitely won't be trying to go out at sub3 pace again until I think I'm ready 😂 Yeah I think I might get a pair of Vaporfly 3 and see how they go, I love the Vaporfly 2s so could be a good shout. Hope your training is going well 😊
concentrating on strength work just now, giving the body a break from running just now, will get back on it Dec/Jan and start building again for Edinburgh half next year, will throw in some 10k’s along the way I’m sure
@Guybrush99 nice! It's a little difficult staying consistent with these shorter days 😫 I'm wanting to run a marathon early next year but trying to find one earlier than Edinburgh then I might run Edinburgh half if in recovered
Fan of you❤
@@kennyomega8077 I appreciate that🙏😊
I still got so many questions to ask... Can you please share your Instagram account...🙂
It's true
Such a vibe
Are they still alive?
They certainly are, but I have only done around 50km in them still. I just don't reach for them that much.
@timothytrewin which are your favorite bro
@kennyomega8077 my fav atm is the Adidas prime x! I also did a video on this a little while back but have logged close to 300km in them and my opinion on them back then was maybe a little different. But they are just so fun to run in! They're fast if you want to pick up the speed and comfortable and feel fine at slower paces if you want to use them on recovery days. The only thing I'll say is that they're very unstable in the heel so if someone has weaker ankles or runs on uneven, hilly surfaces or around an area that has a lot of corners probably not the best for them. But I absolutely love it atm
@@timothytrewin I will watch the video thank you
Fair play mate that's quick! 💪 I'll have the beer if you're not wanting it 😉😆
@@RunEdinburgh my guy👊 thank you 😊.. its still in the fridge😂
do they have sidewalls around the midfoot? the peg 41 didn't work for me because of the sidewalls but if they dont have them here i might give them a try!
Yo sorry for the late reply! They do have some slight sidewalls from the midfoot up and around the heel. I'm not sure as to how different they are compared to the peg41 but I'm guessing quite similar in re to the sidewalls. If the sidewalls caused you problems I believe Nike do an extra wide version of both shoes that might help with that? Just a thought😊
Is it good for 800m run
If you mean racing an 800m track race these would not be legal to race in but if you mean as just a shoe to go out for a run under 1km of easy running, it would be okay for that but definitely not the best option. Let me know if that helps ☺️
@@timothytrewin i want it for competition. Like the less time i take to complete the 800 m race the more marks i can score .
Then please suggest a good one. For 800m ???
@@vedika-choudhary there are much faster shoes than these but it also depends on your budget is.
@@timothytrewin please tell the name
Well done! Glad you enjoyed Glasgow 😀
@@DavidBhoy1967 thank you David 😊are you from around Glasgow?
@@timothytrewin yes originally. I also did the half marathon but nowhere near as good as you, in about 2 hours 😀 I love Pollok Park. Was so cool to run through it as part of the route.
@@DavidBhoy1967 nice! I need to get there for more events to see more 😍 2hr still great running mate 💪 Pollok Park was lovely! I really enjoyed that part of the route. Next time I won't do a silly unnecessary uptempo run midweek and carry a tight chest into race day 🤦😂
Congratulations to you and Jen on completing the Half Marathon in Glasgow of the Great Scottish Run , I ran the 10K earlier, wasn't it great running over the River Clyde on the closed motorway lane, well done.
@@alanmorr3635 thank you! 🙏 Great work on the 10k ☺️ I really enjoyed the route it was nice new scenery for us as we haven't ran in Glasgow before and it was a refreshing change ☺️
Neatttt- think I saw you at the warm up! Changed my goal during training to sub-90 mins and there wasn’t a pacer for that time in my wave, so had to do it from scratch. Just about made it by 20 seconds!
@@reubencurran4738 oh nice!! How'd you come by the video? ☺️ Yassss great running! 🥳 I feel like more often than not it's better to run your own race and sounds like it work out for you 🤭 I prefer focusing on pacing myself.
Quality run man! Good to hear insights from someone clearly well ahead in their running journey. Second half marathon in as many months for me, always been more of a sportsman(football) caught the bug on my first one. Made a complete mess of morning hydration so the first 8 miles until the second drink station weren’t the prettiest. 2hr 8 minutes for me which was a pb of 30 seconds or so but definitely feel like sub 2 hours is possible on my next one in Inverness come March time.
@@cameronpollock1889 appreciate it Cameron 🙏 amazing to hear you have caught the bug as well 😆 I started running after Edinburgh marathon 2022 so been at it a little while now but I too was into sports etc prior to that. 2:08 is still a great time and I'm sure you can get sub2 💪 wee tip in re to hydration I do that on the days leading up to the race. So 2-3days leading up I'll focus on hydrating being careful not to over do it. The morning of the race I don't drink too much water or electrolytes maybe just a bit. I look forward to hearing all about your training for the half in Inverness during March ☺️

Hi, Timothy. Thanks for your review, its cool. I would like to ask for advice: what do you recommend for running on asphalt, 5-10 km, 2-3 times a week? Downshifter 13, Interact Run or Winflow 11 ? Thanks in advance!
Hi Daniel, thank you for checking out the video 😊 I haven't personally run in the Interact Run or Downshifter, but from my knowledge of the Downshifter from previously working within a Nike store I can confidently say the winflo 11 would be much more beneficial to buy as it would be more versatile if you're wanting to do a little longer runs or some speed. I haven't been running in the winflo as much recently but I have been wearing them casually and they have broken in nicely and are getting more comfortable than when I did this review. The zoom unit has started to squeak when walking but that doesn't bother me. Also a thing to note would be that the upper isn't very breathable so in warmer climate might get very hot feet. Hope this somewhat helps and you enjoy your running 😊
Well done Tim
@@galaxytechnology thank you 🙏🙏
Nice vid, wasn’t too far behind you, 3min ish.
@@Guybrush99 thank you, appreciate it 🙏😊 nice running did you enjoy it? 💪 have you run the event before? Definitely one I'll look to run again, I enjoyed the day.
@@timothytrewin yea ran it few years ago, smashed that time, I wasn’t going to run it this year, as been injured, so last min decision, to be 1:33, although not my fastest run, makes it one of my best for just gritting it out.
@@Guybrush99damn man that's so good nice work! 💪 Hope the injuries stay away and you can enjoy some more races 😊
I was in the 10K, my first ever race. It was a great race, lots of loving supportive and encouraging runners in the pack!!! My normal training route gives me lots of hills, so St Vincent Street was “easy” in some ways. Give you a tip for cheaper parking, look for a subway station, park close by there and travel in.
@@AndrewKerr5 amazing work Andrew! Yes there was so many great people around and there was such a a positive vibe! Yeah I run in a very hilly area also so normally pretty strong on the hills wasn't feeling my best that's for sure 😂 still very happy with how I ran. Thanks for the tip, we did considering parking at train stations near us and heading it but didn't really think about the outskirts 👍 I'll keep that in mind for future races. £12 isn't the worst in cities I guess 😂 You planning to run more races?
@@timothytrewin I am planning on more races now, such is the gateway drug. Maybe upping my training to the half marathon. Folk around me at the start were dreading St Vincent Street, I was like let’s go!! The atmosphere is very like when I went to The Eras Tour, same vibe and atmosphere. Love that! My parking at one of the park and rides in the subway network was £7.70 with travel included. Funny you should mention your right hip flexor. I have issues with mine, I try to do a couple at home gym sessions a week to help with it. It was last December I took 4 weeks off because of it. It was my first run back running that led me to fall in an icy pothole and damage my ankle ligaments and take another 6 weeks off this time 10 months ago. This year has been a rough one, now leading to this. Very low times have lead to this very high time!!
@@AndrewKerr5 good to hear! Half Marathon is my fave distance for sure. Training has been a little inconsistent for me and more shorter distance focused to my half marathon endurance isn't quite there atm but still love it. Hopefully you can stay healthy and get a good run of training together 😊 yeah that hip flexor is an interesting one, I'm still unsure if it's a flexibility thing, a strength thing or even imbalances elsewhere causing it but I'll try some things and see how i go. The problem is it only happens in all out races which I don't test often 🤦😂
What a fun race + great atmosphere. Definitely would do it again ❤

For speed and pace running???
@@sahil_jangu_jaat hey I did a full length first run video where I go over some thoughts if you would like to check that out. But in short yes they can handle faster paces, would maybe be nice if the upper was more breathable and lightweight but the midsole isn't the worst for it imo. But every runner is different
I absolutely love this show 🎉
It's so damn good! I don't enjoy cornering in them though, that's about it 😂
I got the grey with dark blue swoosh and green strip. I like them 👍🏼
@@biosskw nice colourway 🤌 are you using them for running? 😊
@@timothytrewin I'm a health care worker so I got them for standing and walking all day but I noticed that they're pretty narrow and given the higher stack I'm concerned about them being unstable. I mainly use adidas duramo sl and adistar 2 for running but that nike cushlon is so comfy for everyday use.
@@biosskw oh that's amazing 😊 I feel as though they are a pretty stable shoe so hopefully you get on well with them 🙏another to look out for, being on your feet all day is the Nike Invincible 3. A bit more pricey but so comfortable.
Congratulation Tim, really impressive time. New to the channel, looking forward to following your journey. Love the blast running events, doing their trail 1/2 marathon through Dalmeny at the end of next month

Thoughts on the journey run? Do you think its better than the winflo11?
I haven't run in the journey run so not 100% sure but to my knowledge I think the winflo maybe a bit more cushion but the journey might have a bit more of a breathable upper. But like I said I haven't worn the journey run though they might be a good one to check out and save some money

Run in Peg39 and have bought a pair of Winflo11 for every day and half marathon - would these stand up for a half marathon?? (5’7” and 70kg for context). Love your content by the way. Refreshing.
@@paulmarcus9647 hey Paul thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it🙏😊 personally as I go up to the half or full marathon distance I'd want something with a little more cushion to protect the legs. But both the peg39 and winflo11 with be fine just keep in mind the legs will probably fatigue sooner than a more cushioned shoe like the Nike invincible or Nike Vomero 😊 do you have any races booked?
@timothytrewin what! There's more cushioned shoes than these haha so new to this and got these as mt first running shoes and can't believe how padded the soles are. I've been under a rock 😀
@@Benni3e haha lets just say you picked a good time to start running 😉even if you wanted to stay in the Nike line there's the Vomero17 and invincible 3 which are great daily running and workout shoes. Have you run in a shoe with Lightstike Pro? Do you like it?
Lightstrike pro has become my favourite foam! I have the AP3, TS10 and PX2S, which I all absolutely adore. I also have the Boston 12, but I strongly dislike that one. The PX2S is a fairly planted shoe (at least in the fore/midfoot), so I can just bounce along without having to pay too much attention. I'd still like to try one of the original Prime X versions, if I can get my hands on them...
@@theghostofpcs2391 such an amazing foam that is so durable love it! Interesting your thoughts on the Boston 12 I was considering getting those as a work horse in between the prime x and takumi. What Is it that you don't like? The original prime x is great for my longer runs 😍hope your training is going well, is there any races you're training for?
@@timothytrewin I am one of the very few people who don't like the B12, so you'll probably like them just fine. They seem to be very durable. To me, the shoe just feels too firm and rigid, like a slappy plank strapped to my feet, and my perceived exertion is through the roof. And this is still the case after an over 50K break in period. It almost soured me on Adidas shoes, but I was instantly wowed by the Adios Pro 3, that's where Lightstrike Pro really showed it's true form.
@@theghostofpcs2391 I completely understand what you mean. If it's ever on discount I might try it out. Adios pro 3 or 4 when it releases are definitely shoes on my wish list 😆 atm racing shoes are Vaporfly 2 and AF3 and they still have a few races left in them.

What are the shoes you recommend for marathons?
@@fatsteve-xthegod6711 personally I wear the Alphafly 3. But honestly I haven't tried many other options from other brands. But if speed isn't a big concern for you than looking into max cushion shoes like the Nike invincible 3 to protect the legs over the distance isn't a bad option. I am trying out the original adidas prime x and it feels bouncy fast and great cushion but with the stack height being so high making it very unstable for cornering. So I don't think I'd recommend for the marathon even though it's not deemed legal by world athletics for professional runners, I don't think it would be overly worth it anyway. If I can think of any other recommendations I'll pop back on here 👊
Thank you for the review... What would u think is netter for daily usage .. im more into comfort and coushoned sole... Im stuck in between these and pegasus 40s.
@@kakanisathwik8892 thank you for checking it out. I think they are similar but the upper on the winflo isn't as breathable as the peg40 but in re to comfort id give a slight edge to winflo. If you're wanting all out comfort and to stay in the Nike line, id honestly look at the invincible 3 or vomero if they're available in your area. A bit more expensive but I think it'll be worth it.
@@timothytrewin how about new balance rebel v 4 they are discounted now .. I can buy em for around 7.8k inr ...Pegasus 41 are at 11k inr and invincible run 3 is at 14 to 16 k inr..
