3 misconceptions about tequila.
The beauty of agave spirits is that one never masters it. You’re consistently leaning… Here are the 3 misconceptions about Tequila! There are a lot of people talking about tequila today. Which is awesome to see! I love seeing more and more people getting into this spirit, but that also comes with some misconceptions I see a lot on the comment section and interactions I have. Here are the 3 common ones.
-
Agaves used for tequila are almost always steamed and not roasted, that is one of the Key differences between mezcal and tequila.
Tequila is mostly made in Jalisco, but 4 other states can also make tequila.
Tequila is also a Town, but tequila was not born there.

Let's talk about the 3 biggest mistakes home bartenders do!
Просмотров 2512 часа назад
Top 3 mistakes I usually hear from home bartenders. Truth is 90% of the time it’s about the ice. Good quality ice is essential for making great drinks at home. Good ice, the right amount of ice, and shaking or stirring enough in order to combine, dilute and chill your cocktails properly! Hope that helps 🥂. Oh and please remember to always measure your cocktails!
The Sounds of Batanga!
Просмотров 894 часа назад
We can still talk about Batangas even though #batangaweek has come and gone right?! I was in Tequila last week, and of course I had to stop at the legendary La Capilla where the Batanga was born and drink, let’s say a few Batangas with some friends. It’s the drink of 2024 and this is where it was born. Call it a Charro Negro, a tequila and coke, a Cuba, a tequicoke whatever you want. In the cit...
Let's talk about Cierto and how its made!

Let’s talk about @ciertotequila . Made at the legendary NOM 1146 also known as La Tequileña Distillery. The passion for mature agaves, farming and great tequila is truly contagious at La Tequileña. The agaves are brought from the highlands to the city of Tequila where they are cooked in an autoclave with low pressure. When the agaves are taken to the milling process, their smell overwhelms the ...
Let's make a Kumquat Garibaldi!

Let’s make a Kumquat Garibaldi! My in-laws have a kumquat tree that is overflowing with fruits, so I had to try to make a Garibaldi. Usually made with the combination of Campari and super fluffy orange juice. This is a more bitter and tart version and I like more bitter and tart haha. 🥂
Let's talk about Bacanora
Просмотров 19014 часов назад
Let’s talk about Bacanora? What is Bacanora?? The agave spirit coming from the northern state of Sonora. It’s an agave spirit that I still have so much to learn from, can’t wait to one day visit Sonora and see these places in person. Los Cantiles 1905 is one of the delicious Bacanoras making its way to the US. Let’s learn about this amazing spirit together!
Let's talk about Cabal mezcal!
Просмотров 11616 часов назад
Let’s talk about mezcal and their mezcal from San Luis Potosí! It’s like walking into a flower shop, so floral, Brine, vegetal and sweet. More than just a bottle. This mezcal is delicious and I can’t wait to visit San Luis Potosí one day soon!
Let's talk about Entremanos
Просмотров 19219 часов назад
Let’s talk about Tequila! Let’s talk about @Entremanos.tequila! This comes from NOM 1522. It’s new to the US but it has focused on the markets in Mexico and Europe for the past couple of years. Love to see a brand focusing on Blancos and doing things right. Distilled by Jaime Villalobos Sauza and it’s a easy to drink super fresh and bright and delicious.
Don't drink this tequila!
Просмотров 52821 час назад
What tequilas should you drink? Here are some example of brands that most people think are Mexican owned but aren’t anymore. Yes, I know El Tesoro is part of Beam Suntory now, but it’s one of the best examples of how a big brand can partner with a great family and not change production. Don’t get me wrong either, I love supporting Mexican owned brands, especially family owned brands. But there ...
Let's talk about Kokoro Whiskey!

Let’s talk about whiskey! Let’s talk about this 4 grain whiskey from @kokorospirits . This one brought me memories of Panettone on a Christmas morning haha. Bread, dried fruits with a sweet spicy note, delicious stuff. It’s not just the tequila that’s great when it comes from @kokorospirits this high proof whiskey was delicious too.
Let's go to Musso and Frank!

Let’s go to Musso and Frank! A real Hollywood institution that I had never been to, so Michelle and I finally went. I didn’t know what to expect from a place that’s talked about so much but it was better than we expected for sure. Even the left overs were delicious 😂.

So I don’t know how many of you have been wondering why I haven’t posted a video in the last 2 to 3 days. OK maybe most of you aren’t wondering why I haven’t posted lol but we’ve been so busy with our new bar and we knew it was gonna be a lot of work, we also expected it was probably going cost twice as much and take twice as long when we first started and that’s exactly what it’s been happenin...
Let's make a margarita with Cazcanes!

Let’s Make a Margarita that can probably last till National Margarita day 2025 😂. Remember that great spirits make great cocktails and it doesn’t get much better than this @drinkcazcanes no. 10 still strength. I also don’t like my margaritas to be sweet and with the added milk it already adds a sweet silky texture to this drink. So I always use my preferred margarita ratio, 2-1-1. Two parts teq...
Let's go to the Cabinet mezcal bar!

Let’s go drink some mezcal together over at Cabinet mezcal bar ! Last week we got to celebrate The Cabinet’s private batch with La Luna. A 100 proof Tequilana Weber fermented with Pulque which is delicious. My favorite part though, was to share a packed room full of agave fans and getting to try different spirits, share stories and learn together. It’s awesome to see a bar invest in these kinds...
Let's talk about Hendricks

Let’s talk about Gin! Hendricks was the gin that made me like gin haha so I thought it would be cool to share a little bit of the story of this gin. I want to start talking more about different spirits and what makes them special as well. What do you think? Hendricks is made in Scotland, it is woman made, and was born out of an idea to combine cucumber sandwiches and rose petals into a drink.

great work. much success to this channel and you as well!
How old is that abandoned distillery?
I get criticized for measuring sometimes but it really is the only way to make a cocktail reproducible. 100% agree with Lucas!
what hotel was that ?
Gross Ice is the worst!
Guy Fieri was recently interviewed on Lui Fernandes' channel, and one of the subjects he talked about was filtering the water going into your ice machine. Might be worth installing and maintaining a filter on your tap, or at least getting a pitcher that filters the water for small amounts. I routinely check the screens on the aerators, the stuff built up on those can be enough to put me right off drinking tap water for a while.
damn, now I want a Batanga! I've got my pic holding the 2 liter of El Tequileno from behind the bar at La Capilla!
To me Batanga was the drink my father made his guests at 2 am after finishing all the squirt. Mijo trae me la coka que queda 😂
fort ain't sold in my states abc store so casimigos it is !
I’ve got it. I use it for margs when my wife’s friends come over
Stuff like this gives me inspiration for other drinks I can make with kumquats. Nice stuff Lucas.
That looks gross
This doesn’t taste of anything but tequila. There aren’t notes of anything.
FINALLY!!!
Im open to trying this. sounds like a tasty process. and salmianas are mmmm. but also gotta say, Cabal in general creeps me out. their tequila comes across as paid adverts from influencers and I found it to just not be very good. tasted like vanilla flavoring. they told me to send it to a lab, how about they send it to a lab lol. not that you asked me but idgaf about cabal 😅
Aaanndd this is what we needed to order one! Thanks for helping us pull the trigger 🎉 Derumbes Salmiana was special, I can only imagine how special this one will be! 🤤❤
What are the "additives" you refer to that are in Don Julio and the like?
The four main categories of additives used in tequila are oak extract, glycerin, caramel coloring, and sugar based syrup. The CRT allows them to use up to 1% additives and still claim to be 100% agave, so some brands don't consider them to be additives but "abocantes" as long as they stay under the allowed amount.
Great video!!!! Looks like you had a great time!
One of these days I’ll find a bottle of Fortaleza…Have you covered lebron james tequila?
I can spoiler without knowing or hearing anything about it... it is going to be garbonzo
I found a good comment in regards of "his" tequila, that I will simply add here: "It’s just not worth the price points. Lebron’s name makes it more expensive That’s not ok. What should make it more expensive is the process. In closing. You can find better made tequila for cheaper"
Just keep looking. Eventually you’ll get to buy a bottle of Fortaleza even at or near MSRP ($50-$60 bucks for the blanco) when you do find it. It’s delicious, but not worth the $200-$300 pricing, or for way more, some places offer it for.
I look at you guys building your own bar, and I'm so impressed. Then i wonder why i can't figure out my own camera situation since i already have my own bar. So crazy
I want xa cazcanes back also some other expressions 😢
High-level stuff; very nice!
I picked up g4 blanco off of recommendations and wow it’s so good, bit on the spendy side where I got it lol but was delicious
😢 The abuse continues. I wanna go home.
I love this!!! I tried to do a small small version of this for my friends with our collection every chance we get 😂
That’s super cool!
I like how you're branching out to other spirits other than tequila and mezcal
That Arette selection! 😛
Listen Lucas I like you, I enjoy your videos and your descriptions of things........but you're killing me with this time you spend in NYC. It's my hometown, and not being there during the cocktail renaissance kills me. I'm so jealous. 😂😂😂
This video was too good. I gotta come back to this lol. Cheers! Lets go Tequila Ochoooo
Nice job, I enjoyed tagging along. As far as Tequila Matchmaker, what a difference a year makes, eh? Hope the additive-free makers are incensed.
Nice review. Thank you. I just got one for 159 and will try it soon !
Sorry but I did not heard the name of the brand!
Agreed. You can make something “tequila”-like anywhere in the world. It’s simply just another delicious distilled agave spirit 😋 However, if it is made outside of the Mexican municipalities that are internationally granted “tequila”-producing rights by the nations that abide by the international treaties that are designed to protect appellations of origin (or as Mexico calls theirs, Denominations of Origin, D.O.s), it cannot be legally named AND sold as “tequila”. Outside of all of that, it’s simply just a choice of respecting culture and geographical origin.
I have the blanco but after learning this I'm gonna have to check out the older expressions
I would like to hear you expand upon your impression of Casa Loy and their diffuser process, and your opinion of what you sampled of their tequila.
Although I’ll keep an open mind to one day taste a good diffuser product. I don’t think it’s there yet, the whole group was not a fan of the product unfortunately
@@TheLucasAssis_ Do you know if what you sampled was from mature, cooked agave with the juice extracted by the diffuser?
This is incredible, man. All the food I see you eat always looks five stars. Don Fulano and Arte Nom are two of my favorite brands. Great video. I hope you fix your drone.
That’s awesome to hear!! Drone was ok just needed some propellers lol
Since it’s still the same master distiller, are the flavor & nose of the new NOM 1412 Mijenta blanco the same as their previous NOM 1499? Or are they different now? I’m so glad you’re posting on RUclips again! Love your longer form videos, too! I’ve learned so much from you. You & Lui got us to love other Mexican spirits like those of different agave species & sugarcane!!
Yes. Nothing has changed and from what I understand it’s made a both noms too.
That is awesome to hear by the way. Thank you!
@@TheLucasAssis_ Thank YOU!! 🙏🏽 And good to know. I was worried I was going to lose that good ol’ Mijenta flavor with these new bottles.
AHAHHAHAHAHAH!! Poor Luí!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I’m so glad so many of y’all love Cazcanes. Their No.9 line up hits that magic spot for me. I hope they have a No.9 Joven release again. I missed their first one.
Hahahaha. And agreed! So good.

Poor guy was devastated 😂
Very informative and great tequilas you got , thumbs up.
2 years letter 😂
Try some of the Foursquare offerings. If you can find them
What glass is that
Clase Azul have the best-looking tequila bottles of all time in my honest humble opinion. As far as best taste, Fortaleza is number one. Cheers and thanks to both brands for what they have done and continue to do.
Nobody wants to wait 5 hours for a drink
Leave the milk in.
The only person I know who said good things about Clase Azul was my brother in law, who did some shots of it at his sister’s wedding. I recommended a few additive-free brands like Fortaleza, El Tesoro, Tequila Ocho, and Siete Leguas.
I can’t wait to make these for my family!!!
Over rated for sure. I’m happy with a little centenario
