    I am a coffee breeder from India. Geisha is originally from Ethiopia. It is a late ripener as we observed under Indian conditions. May be this contributes to its better quality.

    This is a difficult coffee plant to grow as it's highly susceptibility to leaf rust which can wipe out a large portion of the crop. It's yield is OK, but not abundant. It's flavor is not remarkable like Bourbon. So, why?

  • @scottOlsonsoulson
    @scottOlsonsoulson 8 месяцев назад

    The Bourbon variety was not stolen by the French from Yemen, then transplanted. Bourbon is a spontaneous mutation that occurred on Bourbon (now called Réunion Island). PLEASE, there's enough B.S. in speciality coffee already. Please stick to facts.

    Catura was discovered in Caparaó region, in highlands betwen the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo. Seedlings from Manhumirim-MG were planted in Siqueira Campos-ES (Guaçuí, actualy). From there, seeds were send to Instituto Agronômico de Campinas (IAC), originating new lines of caturra by selection and new combinations by crosses for example, catuais.

    Absolutely love Geisha. Was just gifted 8 ozs a few weeks back. I tried a few pour overs, which were excellent, but the coffee really shined as espresso. The shots were so delicious, I only drank it as espresso from that point on. It's great hearing about your experience enjoying it as an espresso as well.
