When explaining the sons of God in Job, the answer is always found in the previous verse or verses, that is how a person interprets and using proper hermeneutics and how "Context" is king. Job 1:6 to explain the sons of God, a person builds the hermeneutics from Job 1:5. When scripture was first written there was NO chapter breaks or verse breaks. Job 1:4-6 His sons used to go and hold a feast in the house of each one on his day, and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and consecrate them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did continually. 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b] also came among them Hermeneutic #1 sons of God Job 1: 6 are SANCTIFIED From verse 5, notice that Job is a Patriarch and his duety as the head of the household, he is responsible for the sins of his children. Job is head of the household/the patriarch and father of his family, so it is his duty to present the sacrifice for his children to "Sanctify" them, meaning Sacntify their souls. The verse says in verse 5 “It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts.” The verse use the word hearts, which means inner person or the heart of a person, their soul. These animal sacrifices/burnt offerings would be called the "First Covenant", to get an idea of the "First Covenant" look to Hebrews 8 about Jesus a High Priest and a better covenant. Hebrews 8:13 In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. Hebrews 9:13-14 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Bascially the "New Covenant" the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross made the "First Covenant" of the animal sacrifices/burnt offerings obsolete, becasue since Jesus was put on the Cross for the fianl payment of sins, it is the sacrifice of Jesus is what matters today. The "First Covenant" is a foreshadowing of the "New Covenant". We also NOTICE that Job offered these burnt offerings/animal sacrifices CONTINUALLY>>>>Job 1:5b " he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. The "First Covenant" of the animal sacrifices/burnt offerings were offered over and over and were only good until the next animal sacrifice/burnt offering was offered. We find a Jesus speaking of His crucifixion and the 'New Covenant" found in Matthew, Mark, Luke and 1 Corinthians when the Lords supper is being instituted Matthew 26:28: "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Mark 14:24: "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many." Luke 22:20: "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you." 1 Corinthians 11:25: "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." The word Sanctify means set apart as or declare holy; consecrate, make legitimate or binding by religious sanction, free from sin; purify: cause to be or seem morally right or acceptable: Job being the Patrarch of the family, is performing a priestly duty, angels have NO priestly duties or present animal sacrfices unto the Lord God. Angels have NOTHING to do with Sanctification or the "First Covenant. Jesus on the Cross is the High Priest and was the Sacrifice on the Cross for Sanctification, Jesus paid the final sin debt in full on the Cross for sinful man. The result from Jesus who is the son of God, the sanctification of a sacrifice whether a burnt offering/animal sacrifice or the sacrifice of Chirst put sinful souls in the postition of purification (sanctified) to be sons of God or called children of God. NOTICE verse 5 says " Thus Job did continually," which means Job continually offered burnt offerings unto the Lord for sanctification for the souls of his family or children. Hermeneutic #2 sons of God Job 1: 6 have "Feast days" broken into seperate days. When Job presented the animal sacrifice/burnt offering (Job 1:5) this was in the days (Plural) of Feasting. There are Two "DAYS" mentioned in the days of feasting found in Job 1: 4 and Job 1: 13 and there are also Two "DAYS" when the sons of God presented themselves Job 1: 6 and Job 2: 1. Job 1:4 " And his sons would go and feast houses, each on his DAY, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them Job1: 6 "Now there was a DAY when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. Job 1: 13 " Now there was a DAY when his sons and daughters eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house;" >>>>>the sons and daughters are Jobs, his household. The proper interpretation is pairing together Job 1: 4 with Job 1: 6 and pairing together Job 1: 13 with Job 2: 1, keeping Job 1: 5 in mind and applying that thought to with the verses that are paired together. Basically what happened is in Job 1 :4 and Job 1: 13 the feasting would be taking place, then the following day Job 1: 6 and Job 2: 1 early in the morning Job would present the animal sacrifice/burnt offering unto the Lord God. Job is being made Holy as well as his Household (wife, sons, daughters), because of the sacrifice (burnt offering), sanctification, atonement and shed blood of the sacrifice, this brings Job's Household into a position of "Adoption", hence forth sons of God are explained in Job 1:6 and Job 2: 1 which happened the following day. This all took place during the days of feasting, which are broken down into seperate days having there own day. These "Feast days" are just celebration of Job's children probably just celebrating. What Job's children are celebrating some commentaries say "Birthdays". Think of it this way the days of creation from Genesis1, each day would have it's own day, day 1, day 2, day 3 and ect. God specifically created something different own each day. The Hebrew word for day is yom. So when looking at Job 1:6 and Job 2:1 this is clearly NOT about angels. Angels have nothing to do with First Covenant, Preistly duties, animal sacrifices/burnt offerings, Sanctification or being Sanctified and no Feast days for angels. Simply putting it the Patriarch (Job) and his household are the sons of God.

IN SUMMARY With using both Hebrew and Greek/English there is more than one meaning or use of the words Nephilim and Gigantes/Giants. There is a DOUBLE meaning and use on how the words Nephilim and Gigantes/Giants is used in Genesis 6:4 , because of Hebrew, Greek and English or to say which language is used, it is basically a play on words of the Hebrew, Greek, and English languages. Looking at Geneis 6:4 using (PARANTHESES) as Commentary in Genesis 6:4 Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim (First Covenant/fallen ones/Patriarchs) Giants (Years/enormous life spans/Genesis 5 Patriarchs) were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God (Genesis 5/Patriarchs) came in to the daughters of man (daughters of Adam/women) and they bore children (Human/Genesis 5) to them. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew term used for “sons of God” is “bene elohim,” while in the New Testament, the Greek term used is “huios theou”. However, both terms refer to the same concept: Human beings who possess a special and covenant relationship with God referring to BOTH the "First Coveant" of animal sacrifices/burnt offerings found in the OT and the "New Covenant" which is the Sacrfice of Jesus on the Cross found in the NT.

How do u explain the massive "human" skeletons found all over the world. If u take these texts as symbolic then the physical skeletons are.........

I think this is one of many examples where individuals took matters into their own hands rather than trusting in God's wisdom. Rather than following the Torah and caring for the foreigner, especially after such a display from God as proof that YHWH is the one true God, Elijah kills the prophets of Baal. He could have given them a chance to convert to believing loyalty to YHWH, but he didnt. I believe this was Elijah's first step away from leaning on God's wisdom and leaning on his own. I imagine Elijah even thought doing this would ensure those prophets could not sway others to turn from God (just as the verses in Deuteronomy suggest), or perhaps he did it to protect himself, if these hundreds of prophets are dead then they can't go back to Jezebel and stir her and the people up against me. Who knows what he thought, but to me the following story of Elijah running away from Jezebel out of fear for his life suggests his murder of the prophets was not for God's benefit but his own. After standing against basically everyone, being the last faithful Israelite in sight (I know there were others but that's how it would have looked to Elijah) he then tucks his tail and runs when he gets word Jezebel wants to kill him. It just doesnt add up to me, unless you view his murder of the Baal prophets as his turning away from his dependence in God. His first moment he looked to his own wisdom, his own understanding, his own abilities to preserve his life, and in his actions to use death as a weapon he instead became fearful of it. To me this is a pivotal moment in Elijah's life that actually causes him to basically end his life on a low note (running scared and disobeying God). Kind of a similar story to many of the kings/prophets/chosen ones, moments of great and intense faith, moments of self sacrifice, not fearing death, but in the end attempting to preserve their own lives by their own understanding. Praise God though that believing loyalty, faith in Him, is all that is required to be viewed instead on our best day rather than most of our days.

There are things that are still not clear with this interpretation Genesis 6:1 [1]And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, Are we saying that only one genealogy was multiplying on the face of the earth? Is this passage not referring to all men? Is there proof to show that the phrase "sons of God" was used in the old testament to describe men? Look at all scriptures (Genesis 6, Job 1, Job 2, Job 38) 2 Peter 2:4-7 mentions events that were of old, written in the old testament. We can find the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and also Noah and the flood. Where in the old testament can we find the story of the angels who sinned? Isn't it quite ironic that many places in the Bible we see angels showing man like attributes. Jacob wrestles with an angel. The angels ate food with Abraham. The angels were lusted upon by the men of Sodom and Gomorrah. The children of Israel ate angels food.

it's exciting to hear someone else who has a clue on how important context is! i'd also note that context can go much farther than what you note in this video (new to the channel, so I've just started digging in-- could definitely missed things in other videos) context also includes history, culture, literary genre, and linguistic elements. the Text usually provides all manner of hints and allusions to itself, like you note w/ the repeated phrases--which can span different books as well. nearly all of the "red letters" attributed to Jesus are direct quotes from the Tanakh or allusions to them. john does the same thing in Revelation--he says nothing new; it's either pulled from the Text or are references to cultural elements in Ephesus in the latter part of the first century. loads of metaphors that the Text explains when you find them. it would be like us having a discussion of red, purple, and blues states. We get the allusion/reference bc we know American history and culture. What will folks believe we intend to convey 2-3k years from now? it a similar way, we miss how some of these word pictures were intended w.o that context. Context *is* vital for understanding. grooving on what you got going here!

It's a narrative. If people try to understand as literal it will be confusing. Again, it's a narrative wrote by Moses. His intentation was not very clear. As any writer in current times, no one will figure out as he doesn't tell. In addition, the way people write and read nowaday is TOTALLY diferent so we can't try to use narrative logic of today to understand a text from 2000+ years ago.

You are in error .The Sons of God were Angels. The punishment of these angels was being chained in the Abyss. This term in the original language is Elohim. For Sons of God in this chapter. Meaning the Beings of Heaven. Original language helps for context

I think we need to read what Jesus said about angels in Matthew 22.23-31 The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection who came to Jesus with the question about a woman who married seven husbands and died and after she died, and at the resurrection queried Jesus as to who’s wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her. Jesus answered them that they were mistaken about the scriptures. At the resurrection they neither marry or giving in marriage, but they will be like the angels of God in heaven. So according to Jesus, angels are not sexual beings. Also notice in Luke’s genealogy 3:38 that Adam is the son of God. So the son’s of God logically would be from the line of Seth, and the daughters of men from the line of Cain.

The God they speak of in the beginning is actually Man…. The Lord God shows up in Genesis chapter 2:4! Get out your highlighters and highlight every time you see the word God in Genesis chapters 1 through Genesis 2:3… And in another color, in Genesis chapters 2:4 through Genesis chapter 3 highlight every single time you see the words LORD God! I would love to hear any feedback that anyone has to say about this matter… why has nobody noticed that very important intentional design of the text? Why would God go from being called God only all the way through the seven days of creation to all of a sudden, becoming only Lord God after the 7th day? I really would love some feedback and opinions and thoughts of what people think of this fact.
