    First off, your reviews are top-notch !!! I am def getting graphite in a split set of srixon forged II/zx7 staff clubs. Hit my 7 iron 170 yards smooth tempo. Clubs 2 degrees flat. I am really looking at axioms or mmt. I have always played x100 recently to modus 120 and 105 stiff ( due to age 😁 and injuries). Would you go 105 stiff or x. Or possibly 75 x irons and 105 stiff in wedges. Worried about too light messing with dispersion? Or would yo recommend another direction with mmt? Any insight helpful, and I understand the best way is to hit them, but your experience in club fitting helps. I also get it is an educated guess not in stone. Kbs tgi is an option too. Thx !!!

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 10 часов назад

      Thank you, glad you're enjoying - I like your approach here and happy you understand it's not in stone :) In the MMT I'd push you to heavier and stiffer to match the 120g Modus/128g X100 area as they'll play softer than the steel shafts comparatively - 130X I'm a huge fan of the Axiom, they just work - I'd be looking to test 105S and 105X with you to benefit from the lighter weight and keep the stability you're used to with more ease ...I haven't actually tried the 75X and that's an interesting point ...I'd be guessing but I think they'd be a LOT of fun to use ...I'd lean that way of you want to have more ability to draw ...In the 75S for me, it's a high draw and I have to work REALLY hard to fade the 75S, Could be similar in the 75X To summarise - Axiom 105S is my gut feeling wedges through irons - I started with just a long iron shaft inn a 2i and fell in love from there Alternative thoughts from my main gut feeling: Axiom 75X if you want an effortless draw and never intend to step on it too hard - MMT 130X if you want a different price point - Ideally get some in your hands before committing or just do your longest iron on it's own first if you don't have that luxury

    • @russbrown9286
      @russbrown9286 6 часов назад

      @FredzGolf thank you for your input, and it makes sense. Your experience means a lot and great info. Will try to keep the draw out of it so will probably stay on the 105 rather than the 75 plus I do step on them on occasion. Want to keep one side of the course out of the equation 😁. The price point will be the same for me on any of the shafts I listed. I'm curious about the kbs graphite but have not seen much about them. Looks like Axiom will be hard to beat. Love your videos.

    how much does the 7 iron head weight without any weights?

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf День назад

      Not sure on that one ...the demo head may differ from a fully built club as the neck is different to allow for the adapter The Standard weight in the Apex CB is 18g instead of the 14g that's in the Apex Pro, Ai200 and Ai300 ...That could be to bring the CB overall up to the same weight as the others

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 2 дня назад

      The Jumbo Max aren't too bad as they aren't miles off the normal weight of a grip ...Could be some match ups to bring back the release of the club with different weights though for sure ...Might depend on what that individual golfer is doing with release of the club and hit different weights to see what works best :)

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 2 дня назад

      @tacticaltruth8118 I havnt seen them online yet I think Callaway may try and hold them back from retail and be more of a tool for fittings ...but a Callaway Stockist should be able to order them direct from Callaway - Pro Shops would likely have a better component relationship than ordering through the likes of big retailers

    In this or another of videos you said you did your back in - what are your personal views of the moves in golf (excessive side-bend?) that can be bad for the lumbar (lower back)?

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 3 дня назад

      I don't like excessive side bend at all... Younger whipper snappers might be able to manage it more and not get affected while they are supple... Those a bit longer in the tooth can do some damage long term It leaves the face open more often which some golfers need, but I think there are better ways around it - There has to be some degree of side bend in the swing, I just like to reduce it ...Ill get a video on side bend on the white board!!

    I own both and hands down, the HackMotion is the overall better device. The two main reasons: 1. The DeWiz is very finicky…for example, I’ll have a session of 40+ shots and it’ll read one…I email support and all I get back is your swing tempo needs to be close to 3:1 for it to read and you must be absolutely still, wait for the green light and tone without moving while you wait, and then start your swing from a perfectly static position..in other words, you need to start swinging from an extremely unathletic position (notice Freddie’s video cut before each shot…probably because he has to sit there and wait perfectly still before the DeWiz will say it’s ready)…and as for the 3:1 tempo guidance, I’ve used other methods of measuring my swing tempo and it’s pretty bang on from about 2.9:1 to about 3.2:1…I’ll slow it sometimes if I’m working on something, but in a session of 40+ shots, maybe that’s 4 or 5 shots…So, it’s an intrusive device because you have to do too many unnatural things to get it to work properly…the HackMotion on the other hand, even though it looks more intrusive, is a fire and forget piece of gear…strap it on and swing away, any way you want…waggle, no waggle, 3:1 tempo, 9:1 tempo…whatever works for you…it’ll record every single shot…I’ve used it for about 500 swings or so…hasn’t missed a single one…I love working with it. Hate my DeWiz…I take it out every few weeks to see if maybe it’ll start behaving but it doesn’t…disappointing to say the least because the data it records (when it records) is very good.

    Shafts don’t impact spin. Game a lower lofted low spin head at 8 degrees.

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 3 дня назад

      @2sqnbandit379 Shafts don't impact spin you say.... Please elaborate ...same head ....3 shafts ...same spin?

    • @2sqnbandit379
      @2sqnbandit379 3 дня назад

      @ no not really, check out club champion video, we tested out a senior flex shaft and extra stiff low spin shaft in a 10.5 degree stealth driver. The senior flex spun less. When we changed heads to a TSR. 3 at 8 degree low spin driver using the same shafts we had much better results in reducing spin. It’s more the loft of the driver and face in reducing spin. Getting the right shaft helps more with dispersion.

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 3 дня назад

      @2sqnbandit379 So the Senior Flex had different spin 🤣 I find simular results in "low spin" shafts not always being low spin ....sometimes the lower torque can hold the face open and mitigate any low spin

    • @2sqnbandit379
      @2sqnbandit379 3 дня назад

      @ the senior flex spun lower. Mad isn’t it. The pro said it’s the face and loft not the shaft

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 3 дня назад

      @@2sqnbandit379 Yeah it's crazy how different they behave ...and not always what they say on the tin - In my opinion its how the head and the loft work together... If you have a heavier head, it'll make the shaft react more This video shows some low spin with some shafts that aren't supposed to be low spinning! The face closes down more so you get less spin loft ruclips.net/video/TrCqydaAU1I/видео.html

      @hurtadarryl Very True! Havnt had any fittings kits over the last 15 years where you can adjust the SW with +1" ....If +1" works with someone really well from the fitting kit, I tend to order them at the SW they were actually hitting ....Now I can actually test what's better!

    Like the idea a lot , personally i would rather change shaft weight than head weight and im a bit odd in that i like lighter shafts in w-9i than 8-5 but still want a swingweight in irons of d0.5 throughout , i dislike a heavy head or tip weights over a couple of grms , dont get on with moi sets or amt type set ups i just find shafts create the swing and swingweight creates impact 🤷🏻‍♂️ . Oddly my driver once i got it perfect came out at e0.6 which scared me a bit but it works .. Shame shafts arent easier to switch about for us normally folk ..

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 4 дня назад

      @user_1664 Good that you know what you like 😁 Swingweight can have a big correlation with release ....which relates to speed and direction Ahhhhh Interesting contrast in the Driver!! If it works, it works 😋 Yeah it's only the demo heads ...would be cool to have that in a whole set of irons though ....similar adapter in the new Callaway hybrids coming out next year!! Looking forward to 2⁰ flat in one of those 😎

  • @markhattrup5494
    @markhattrup5494 4 дня назад

    Aren't the variable weights used to maintain swing weight if you put heavier or lighter grips on? I thought that was their main purpose or at least that was my assumption.

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 4 дня назад

      @markhattrup5494 The head weights come out with variation (for every brand) naturally ....they use the heavier ones for shorter custom fits and the lighter ones for longer custom fits to get in the ball park area ...They standardise the weighting with tipweights in the end of the shaft If they had different weights in the back of the head ....it would be very difficult to use this adjustable concept with variations in the back weights from one standard build to another standard build ... The Ai300, Ai200 and Apex Pro have 14g weights as standard and the Apex CB has 18g as standard Like in the woods, they always have the same weight in the weight ports at retail

I tend to hit 3 balls with one club to one target and then switch clubs/ target. It’s good but I think it might be better to switch target on every shot to better simulate course conditions.

    Too many variables involved. Mostly from the player. I've built sets like these about 10 years ago. It works for some and is disastrous for others. Depending on the slope...you get a true moment of inertia (MOI) matched set. But even then, there is no agreement on what/where you are matching to. Folks need to understand that the swing weight scale was created to simplify club building. Before it, club builders needed to do somewhat complicated math to match the clubs. These were MOI matched. When you build a set of irons to say D2 using the swing weight scale, you are actually building an MOI matched set roughly to the player's center of gravity. You could also get similar results to his from soft stepping your longer irons. Still, it is great to see a (much) younger professional challenge conventional thinking. Keep it up, Freddie!

      @pdmv8471 That makes absolute sense and I appreciate your wisdom and experience in the matter!! ...I can see how it wouldn't suit every golfer having used them in the bag for a little while (waiting for new sticks 😋) - If it was a lot lighter than standard at the top of the set, could start losing MOI so I prefer the idea of heavier than standard towards the more lofted clubs

  • @lkae4

    I'm guessing it's more about feel. The slightly heavier shaft with slightly stiffer profile will be very noticeable with some. Also because DG has so many offerings above 100g.

    • @FredzGolf

      Yes, each golfer will lean one way or the other with weight.... I tend to try the extremes in a fitting at the start to help narrow down ...You could do this with a 10g difference but could be harder to expose what's better with some golfers ....Yes there's a few weights in the DG MID! 90 100 and 115 in the Callaway fitting kit ...Then the other models away from the MID :)

    • @FredzGolf

      @mickritchie1815 Depends on flight and turf interaction ...I'd have to determine it in a fitting to be sure ....but flatter holds the ball to the right and more upright encourages a lefter flight ruclips.net/user/shortskXIieBbUK5A?feature=share

    • @FredzGolf

      Good point... Could be down to sorting! Yeah bigger gap in the Axiom means you get a proper separation between the two!

    • @mrmatt8949

      If they keep small gaps, the marketing department can really push the importance of a small change and potential upgrade. I bet there’s more than 10grams between the “same” heads due to poor QC

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 6 дней назад

      @mrmatt8949 Oh the head weight varies massively from manufacturing moulds ....they group them - lighter heads get used for longer custom fit builds and heavier heads get used for shorter custom fit builds - Then they don't have to be manipulated as much to get the swingweights up to spec 😋

    Thanks for the video Freddie. The Hackmotion analysis and cure is quite intriguing. I am curious how they developed the “perfect swing or perfect positions” for you to be in to achieve your best shots? Do you find a difference from Driver to irons? Do you need to input the specific iron/hybrid/fairway/driver for the analysis to work?

    • @FredzGolf
      @FredzGolf 9 дней назад

      That's a good point! I think it looks at the relationship between the 3 positions and the consistency of how often they get what they get ...You can cup lots and you can bow lots and it still say it's good, if you repeat the same pattern Where there's variation, there's a progressive drill to do something repeatedly to tidy up that area of the swing I find a lot of golfers that are very adept at 2/3 of the golf bag and then there's one area that suffers because they are trying to do the same swing with every club It's a tool that in practice, I'd use it with a specific club like driver as a separate session

      Hahahahah very true ...I have to pin people down to stop them buying new clubs sometimes (not good for business short term... It's the right thing for the golfer long term) .....Get their swings sorted ....and then new clubs make sense Rule of thumb I think the solution to a problem is: SWING = 85% EQUIPMENT = 15%

      @@andycorso8498 First time i used it, it came up with "no swing faults" ....2nd time, I had more variance in my position at the top of the swing and it highlighted a drill to tidy that up - I think maintenance is just as important as finding the swing in the first place :) Just think as well, the best players in the world are always working on their swing ...They come in and out of good form and a tool like this could be a good way to spot check whether you're still swinging consistently with some guided measurements eh But yes, also a very good tool for a coach to use

      That can often happen! Remember, once you get your swing working, there's still maintenance to stay in check! ...Tour Players at the top of the game still work on things in the swing and old habits die hard! Tour Players come in and out of form, yet, club golfers can get "stale" easier ...Gotta keep that swing fresh as much as possible
