    Jeez, been a few years since the shit hole state closed any salmon fishing down on us here in Cali. Wish my career and company wasn’t so dang set here, really hate the fact I contribute to this states tax system. Hate paying higher fee each year for licenses to just find out another type of fish or fishery is taken from us. They just shut down our sturgeon fisher this year as well, steelhead hatchery programs are dismal at best. Wild fish just can’t seem to thrive without some help, which they won’t give. Salmon are released by the millions each year in the Central Valley. Just to come into a river around Sacramento that is 76-85 degrees on a normal summer, So the few fish that do make it through the hot tub are lucky. Abalone has been closed for shoot idk 8-10 years now. Only supposed to be a temporary thing. And like said sturgeon now too, closed. The halibut are getting such a beating now days cause the fleet only gets to target them. What do you think will happen next few years. Ow shoot let me guess halibut numbers are poor so let’s close that to. Bass fishing is fun. But I’ll sure tell you what, I miss being able to float a bobber, eggs and sand shrimp down my favorite local slots with all the local boys. Or that slamola of the K16 that never gets old, as well as the tug shows above in the mighty pacific. Just sucks man. Anyway enough wining from me. Hopefully next weekend opening day of deer season I can smack a good buck. As always to the father and son outdoors. Great video and hope all is well with both you guys. One of these days I’ll be in one of your videos when I take you up on the offer for me and the old man to come sleep in the camper in your neck of the woods.

    • @KyleSilva1990
      @KyleSilva1990 3 дня назад

      @@fathersonoutdoors8049 yes sir. I feel like it’s all (Poorly) managed. And it infuriates me honestly. I’m no rocket scientist or a damn chemist, but I feel like as being a 32 year old Carpenter I could manage these historic fishery’s better than what’s going on. And the reason being is because just like yourself and how you have passed it down to your kids. My dad and the old timers in my lineage did the same thing. It was part of, and some more so, It was there life. I have literally loved and lived for the moments to encounter one of these amazing fish. Especially steelhead and salmon, whether it’s in the ocean or preferably my favorite once they come into the rivers. So I have literally spent my life thinking and chasing these fish, trying to know their every move. But that is the problem. The people that are managing our fisheries. A lot of them have only ever seen a salmon or steelhead in a damn textbook. They have no idea how special and precious these fish thriving are, to not only the ecosystem but a huge group of people. Sorry for the ramble buddy. I know I’m preaching to the choir, but I just wish somehow I could get more involved and be more of a voice, especially here in California our politicians and certain groups are shipping so much water down to areas that have little to none. That when these fish come back into our rivers, there incredibly low odds of succeeding in their journey, gets that much more difficult. They spend millions upon millions of dollars raising hatchery Smoltz. Hoping to litigate all the bull crap we have caused these fish. Not to mention a new factor introduced into the river years ago, which is a huge predatory fish. The damn striped bass are thriving. I know it’s a great fishery and guides thrive from their presence now days. But the Sacramento system historically had runs of salmon year round. A winter run of fish which were always big big fish came in, along with the spring run, followed by an amazing summer and fall run that was at one time the 2nd or 3rd most abundant population of salmon around the west. Only system standing in its way was the amazing Columbia River system. Which I know you guys have seen just decimate over the years. But I’ll tell you what at least they have enough fish for the citizens to fish. Our salmon come home to such Piss poor water conditions (Because of the management) along side other predators. They put so much effort into releasing these smoltz, but they do us nothing on when these fish return to complete their cycle. And hey I’m Not saying no fish make it to the upper reaches of the Sacramento/Feather rivers. It’s just baffling. I have seen your videos with Jordan Knigge, and thank god for him and the addicted boys. Gotta do something one day to be able to shake that man’s hand, as well as Marlin. He explains myself in perfect words. He explains his love for fishing and it saving him from his parents unfortunate addiction issues, well fishing saved me from staying in my own addiction. I would not be here if not for growing up and having my dad pass down this amazing Life chasing steelhead and salmon. It gave me hope on my darkest days, Wow man, sorry for the damn short novel, just Really need to get more involved and be a voice somehow because I’ll tell you what it will break my heart if my three year- old son never gets the opportunities and memories that I did as a kid. I mean I’ll travel to fish don’t get me wrong. But there’s something about having these fish in your backyard. Your backyard which use to be loaded, and I mean loaded. Just sad man. Take care sir. Always appreciate you getting back to me man.
