Cleaning Up an Old Scratch Awl | Weekend Builds
Просмотров 372 года назад
Just a super quick video from the workshop this weekend. I've been doing a lot of projects and haven't taken the time to film any of them in a long time. So here's a very quick little tool clean up, I wouldn't even call it a restoration. Hope you enjoy!
Mobile AV Rack | Weekend Builds
Просмотров 1554 года назад
As I get deeper and deeper into quarantine life and do more and more work remotely I've found a need for a mobile computer. No, not a laptop or tablet. I need something that has some power. Really I wanted to make a mobile road rack for some AV equipment. This is the first step in starting to build out my streaming rig. You can look in my channel for some of my past streams, but I want to make ...
Walnut Stitching Pony | Weekend Builds
Просмотров 1 тыс.4 года назад
I decided that it was finally time to upgrade my leather stitching pony. I've recently done a few hand stitching projects and I'd like to do some more. Once again I'm dipping into my left-over supply of 3/4 walnut flooring. With a little bit of work they make great boards. The wood was finished with a couple of coats of General Finishes Armor Seal. The knob was finished with shellac. Hope you e...
Assembling AvE's Retna-Remover 9000
Просмотров 454 года назад
A few weeks ago I got on the confuser and fired off some beer money in Canaderp's direction. After some patient waiting, a treat-especial arrived for me. I cleared enough room on the healing bench and set to work. This is just an assembly of AvE's solder-able catapult. If you're looking for one of your own, I believe he still has some available on his etsy store. He also has a more in-depth ass...
Walnut Headphone Hanger | Weekend Builds
Просмотров 2664 года назад
This past weekend I got fed up fighting with my headphones. I de-cluttered the desk with a purpose built brass and walnut headphone wall hanger. This build was a lot of fun, I think because it was very free form and measurements were more of a rough guideline. The wood is a solid walnut veneer from Woodcraft. I finished it with 3 coats of Armor-Seal and a coat of furniture wax. Hope you enjoy! ...
Making a freehand Oom Paul Pipe
Просмотров 63 тыс.4 года назад
The weekend build was fun and challenging project. I made a freehand Oom Paul style full bent pipe. The pipe is made from a piece of cherry wood. The stem is acrylic. The guy I made this for wanted a lighter finished wood so I decided to go with a natural buffed finish. The wood was sanded to 220 then buffed and finished with carnuba wax. Please consider subscribing. I want to start releasing c...

Very cool, would you sell these?
What's material the stem made of?
I wished I had the scratch to buy huge pieces of briar

beautiful craftsmanship
This is perfect timing. I am a leather worker and I just got my greatkilt and boots in. I want to build a Sporan - would you be willing to share the template you used, sir?
Sure! there's an old school pdf you can find by googling "Old Style Sporran Patterns" it lists out the basic measurements of a Rob Roy style sporran. I used that document and made some adjustments to fit my leather. for this I was using a 3-4oz chrome excel similar leather, and reinforcing with 2-3oz veg-tan. I think it basically ended up being like a 9" radius with a 22" gusset.
Just the video I needed! Thanks! Do you sharpen the edges of the spoon bit?
Honestly I really didn't do too much. I kept pretty close to a 90 degree edge and have had no issues. Infact that bit has finished the bowls on probably a dozen pipes since I filmed this.
That's a good pipe ( marcus . Greer )
Thanks for not adding an outlandish colored stem nor a light colored stem. Light colored stems show tobacco stains and bite marks. Dark colors hide them. Outlandish colors prevent many customers, especially traditional pipes smokers, from purchasing a pipe. Crazy bowl designs also prevent many sales. In my opinion, at your age, if you are serious about selling pipes, traditional bents and straights will be your best sellers.
Where can we buy your pipes
Nice video. May i ask which side do you sharpen?
Could you build this without a lathe
yes you absolutely could, the lathe comes in handy getting the initial shape of the stem and making sure the airway in the stem is centered. but it could be done with just a drill press and shaping the stem with a sander.
Are you from South-Africa
Sorry Pieter, I'm not, I'm located in the USA
Soo beautiful
Such a high quality video! I dont even smoke but i found pipes fashinating and love thinkering. Might make one for a smoking friend one day, thanks for the video!
Amazing
hi , did you sell it?
Nice simple demo cheers mate
Great job! What’s the over length of the pony?
Thanks! Overall length is 24 inches. but working length from the clamping screw is around 12 inches. After a year of use, I think its honestly a bit large. Also should have done more of a compound curve on the jaws. I find long thread tends to get caught on the hand screw or on the bench vise. I'm considering a remake at some point and maybe trying to track down a ball mount vise. It works great, but just kinda sucks to have to stand to use it the whole time.
Definitely a nice pipe
Molto bravo!
great start, but its not finish. wait till he does the carving.
How much is pipe
some not work , you have continuity problem from shank to mouthpiece....
Very nice bro I need for me kindly help
You want to build another one I’m always in the market
Nice work
👍👍👍👍👍все логично,изделие,должно быть практичным и тем не менее,изящным,но не расфуфыренным👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love the chipmunks songs. :)
awesome, im going to make a oom paul soon so doing my research love this
GOOD PIPE ....FANTASTIC .👍
Классно 👍👍👍
Nice job sir
Great work 👍
Always great to make your own tools, and glad it worked for you, but modding a spade bit does not make it a traditional spoon bit. They're a different animal altogether! Not even to be used with power equipment. I've been researching this, see this video ruclips.net/video/GS9zZwQFob0/видео.html
Absolutely, theres some great old ones out there for bit and brace setups. I might just have to do a revisit of this project, turning a proper one on my machine lathe. Theres some really nice looking ones with indexable cutting faces too. I did a poor job explaining how I used the bit, which was very much to just create a shallow semi-circle at the end of the tobacco chamber rather than use it to drill the entire hole.
Do You Sell Any and what wood was used?
I have sold a few, but not many, Its more of a hobby for me, the wood was cherry
Very Nice Work 👌
Beautiful work, greetings from Perú.
Hey nice build !! What's the stem material btw ?
The stem is a black acrylic, typically used for pen turning. I've found they work well for stems.
@@WeekendBuilds alright thanks 👍
Hands were definitely used.
How much for one of these?
Music is awful
Nice job and great use of your tools.
It was great, and while it was short, it was full of important points, and I use them ️🙏🏻♥️👌👑🎷
