All these guys posting work out vids are small and weak looking
Barefoot like a boss! 🦶🏽💪🏽
I’m a huge advocate for barefoot! For many reasons! 💪🏻
@@SandbagMisfit94 is it 10xs better imo but I'm scared of smashing my damn foot with a weight lol
@ there’s a lot of risks with it lol I do wear shoes where and when it’s necessary. And my whole thing about dropping a weight on your foot is that I don’t think a shoe will protect it that much, it’s still gonna hurt!
Those are some strong presses! And that pause on the sandbag rows 👌🤌
Thank you sir! Pressing is something I’ve never been that good at compared to other things like deadlift, squats and cleans. That pause is the X factor in the rows for sure!
Lifting weights like that Sandbag its hard to imagine you have more work to be done 😊 i find trying to learn gymnastics rings skills keeps me more interested than reps of dips and pull-ups, and ground skills like the QDR capture my interest more than pushups these days
Yeah rings are savage! That’s something I’ve considered learning in the future! Slow controlled tension with low reps is what I’ve found more effective with pushups, dips and pull-ups rather than going for high reps. But then again it’ll help increase your ability to do more reps over time 👍🏻
@@SandbagMisfit94i spent about three years doing nearly daily burpees, probably averaged 300 pushups a day. Personally now, i don't think thats healthy for balance, i did try and do a lot of rows and pull-ups too, but still, it's hard on the elbows and shoulders. I agree slower is kinder to joints especially. Rings are self limiting like that, and the rotation keeps joints happy
@ joint pain was what I noticed when doing high volume calisthenics. Banging exercises out is hard on the joints because your muscles don’t have time to engage
Nice video and presentation. Grounding makes sense on many levels
Exactly! I believe what you do with the rest of your time outside of working out can maximize your results, specifically how you recover
this is awesome!!! such a valuable sequence of movements, all together!
Thanks man! It helps tremendously!
Solid workout 💪🏽 🔥
Thank you! It was brutal 💪🏻🔥
Awesome finisher! Those pull aparts are welcome additions to any routine 👌
I’m starting to add some more band work, banded and bodyweight isometrics into the workouts 👊🏻
Fuk yeh late night training in the dark, 2025 is our year, personal bests for us all
Haha early morning 4am training in the dark. I gotta be at work at 6am 🤣 damn right 💪🏻
Strong squats! That’s a big ass sandbag you got there 😅
It is cumbersome and bigger than me size and weight wise 🤣
@ how much is that? Looks massive, I believe those rogue ones are as wide as Cerberus bags.
@ it’s a rogue 250 but I have it filled to 200. It’s a beast when full
@@SandbagMisfit94 looks like it! How many sandbags do you have?
@ I have 3. One strongman bag and 2 long handled bags rated for 80lbs and 160lbs but I can make them weigh more
Great work you're killing it bro 💪🏻
Thank you! 💪🏻
Brilliant video mate I've only recently started sandbag training, one of my favourite exercises to do is the zercher carries think because my love of dumbell farmers walks and suitcase carries made me zone into zerchers
Thanks! Zercher and bear hug are my favorites 💪🏻
@SandbagMisfit94 Smashing channel, bro, for a newbie like myself to sandbag training, your channel has everything explained clearly and very well 💪🏻
@ I appreciate that! It’s more of sandbag based training from a functional fitness athlete standpoint rather than the bodybuilding and hypertrophy aspect of it!
I’m here to help newbies to sandbags in their journey by showing mine!
@SandbagMisfit94 💯 bro you're doing a great job.
Damn!! ATG sandbag squats!! 🔥🥵
That’s the only way to go 🔥
🎵 Hey! Hey! I'm you bag, I'm the one who'll take you there! Heeey! Heeey! I'm your bag, I'm the one who cares! 🎵 You are pretty damn strong already 💪🏽 subbed 🫡
Thank you sir! I’m a huge Metallica fan! Seen them twice in concert (with my mom) 🤣 I like just letting an album play and getting to work in the garage 💪🏻 I subbed as well 👊🏻
@SandbagMisfit94 hell yes! 🤘🏽 Never saw them, but had their first 5 albums and blasted that shit regularly!
@@Sheikbaby hell yeah! Same!🤘🏻
Great movements! Snatches, presses and overhead carries really builds that shoulder strength and stability. I should incorporate these again in my routine.
Especially unilaterally! It’s great for slight imbalances from injuries as well! That’s what’s helped me the most with my slight imbalance!
Real life, functional movements! Carrying a human makes most sense in that position 💪🏽
If you were to ask me what I train for, that would be a huge reason 💪🏻
@ That’s a great reason! You never know when you might find yourself in that situation.
Especially as a dad and husband!
@@SandbagMisfit94 exactly! My goal is to lift both my wife and kid as long as I can, though kids grow so fast these days I might’ve a hard time keeping up. 😅
Call it progressive overload 🤣
Thanks for the sort of advice?
Hey! You’re welcome 👍🏻 but maybe in the sense that I advocate for it and I’m recommending that its worth putting in your routine if you’re not using it already 💪🏻 I’m reloading this into a long form today, it wasn’t meant to be a short 🤦♂️
Oh, great. Thanks, I'll try to watch it.
RUclips has been messing with me 🤣
Rucking =)
Heck yeah! 👊🏻
Are you an avid Rucker? 💪🏻
@@SandbagMisfit94 Only to de-stress but pretty often. I go from 10kg to 15kg on my hiking backpack
Same! Often I use it as just simple movement throughout the day and sometimes incorporating it into my daily life. Like when I go to work and there’s stairs, I’ll throw it on and take the stairs. 🔥 I don’t have time to do long distance all the time. I believe incorporating it into daily life and steady movement throughout the day is much more beneficial than just working out for an hour then being sedentary for the rest of the day. For both your physical and mental health 💪🏻
What are the tips to prevent the lower back against injuries ?
In my experience, a strong core, hip mobility, flexibility (stretch the hamstrings). The heavy sandbags build some substantial core strength but an extra I’d recommend are ab wheel rollout. I train in the morning and usually do active warmups. I stretch and do mobility in the evenings and more of it depending on how I feel. Thats what I do outside of workouts Proper lifting technique as well. When lifting the sandbag, put the engagement on your legs and upper back and you won’t have any problems.
Nice hybrid sandbag program, good video
Thank you!
On the rows, Brother I like to squeeze em out hard against my chest.
Thank you, that’s a good idea. I’ve been tinkering with isometric tension for a few weeks.
Lifting sandbags ,stones, farmers and doing these akward movements strengthens the core in unconventional ways,so you become way less injury prone .
That’s a great point! I have definitely noticed being less injury prone since I’ve been lifting sandbags
Hey awesome video man!
Thanks man! Thanks for the inspiration!
At 5ft 10 150 lbs in my 20z 30z i was curling 100 lb bar bell sets each arm my strength came from my forearms instead from my shoulders az most people we never figured how i was so much stronger in my arms than shoulders even tho i didn't work out much but when i did i went heavey az possible i was so much stronger at a smaller frame thsn everyone else who was way bigger now in my 50s i still am strong but its in my hands now after twisting electrcal wires everyday for 20 yrs my strength seemed to gravitate too my hands lower arm activity's but yes you are on right path too build strength
Well that’s a big part of strength whether we think so or not!
Get a earthing bedsheet to get the time grounding in.
Good idea!
Can I suggest an in expensive 50# weighted vest or ruck sack. It will help out immensely and you can hump lighter bags for same effect.
Absolutely! I actually have a ruck and have used it like that before I made upgrades in weight with the sandbags. It will definitely be effective if you’re training with a lighter bag 💪🏻
4am? I’ll do a 5:30 but no way I’m getting up at 3:30. Do you do a swing shift or something?
Gotta be at work at 6am. I’d rather do a 5:30 or later. I go to bed early, I’m a huge advocate for quality sleep and enough sleep. It does wonders!
This is a good video on endurance training through calisthenics. Besides kettlebell and heavy sandbag do you any progressive/regressive style calisthenics for strength or do you leave that solely for the sandbag ?
Heck yeah that brutal rep scheme is one of my favorites! So that’s based off a workout challenge from CrossFit that I like to do every year to beat my previous time the year before. I spent 8 weeks prepping for that and after I did that (in may) I spent 12 weeks running that rep scheme with pushups, pull-ups, squats. And chin ups, dips, squats. It drastically improved my endurance and ability to do more reps unbroken on all the exercises. Since September I’ve been more nuanced in being more strength progressive with calisthenics. Rather than excessive reps for time, it’s been more time under tension, weighted and harder variations like fist pushups, dive bomber pushups and slower weighted pull-ups.
Yeah the Murph is pretty challenging, its so much in such a short time..I have never done it but saw a vlog of someone doing it. For general strength using bodyweight, do you have any thoughts on using modified leverages like assisted one arm pushups/ assisted one arm pullups or are weighted movements better if the goal is to just build strength and not the partial/one limb skills
@@saiketbiswas8444 one arm assisted exercises are good for addressing imbalances. I use weights for unilateral work usually. I have a slight imbalance where my right side is bigger than the left. Mainly because I’m right handed and my left side has taken several injuries throughout my life. The focus for building strength with calisthenics should be tension. Slow, controlled reps. Rather than focusing on quantity of reps. I think weighted movements are much better for building strength simply because of the added stimulus that makes the exercises harder
Good explanation.
Glad you think so!
Man your content is very inspiring. Cheers from Brazil, I'm figuring out a way of getting a sand bag to start replicating your training. Keep pushing forward 💪🏻 God bless
Thank you very much! That’s what it’s all about. Inspiring and helping people better themselves with sandbag training. Best of luck when you start your sandbag journey! Keep putting the work in day in day out 💪🏻
It's also greatly self limiting. If you can't lift it you just won't. And no amount of accessory work is going to get that thing to your shoulder if your grip is weak.
It’s like the concept of “forever heavy”. Consistent practice helps with becoming capable of lifting it. You’re right, no amount of accessory work will get it to your shoulder. It takes doing it to become better at it with lifting a sandbag
What your skill? Mine is sandbag to shoulder. Though I recently started pressing sandbags overhead too.
It’s all based around shouldering, cleaning and carrying the sandbag. Kettlebell work as well like cleans, snatches. The shouldering is a work in progress though right now
One of the reasons why I like Calisthenics and Armwrestling
Exactly!
😂 My dad's knees back shoulders Elbows, fingers and toes are all breaking down. Maybe think about your Cartilage
Lol I’ll do some research and learn how to create cartilage of steel. I was really talking about the mental reward in this one!
You are rounding too much, and the bag is too far from your body. You should also be using firmer soled shoes for heavier lifting.
That was back when I was first getting the feel for it 4 months ago. I keep it close to my body now. Are firmer soled shoes better on the feet? I’ve always gone barefoot or worn running shoes when lifting. Never tried the firmer soled shoes though!
thanks
👍🏻 I used to struggle with starting and stopping, working out on and off until I figured out the mindset side of it of how to grind alone 💪🏻
💯 This! 💯 I've felt this way for years but usually get labelled obsessive or unrealistic. I especially love when people point to the government's laughable nutrition guidelines. 😂
lol I get labeled that too. The government’s “nutrition” guidelines in the fattest, sickest country in the world with a billion dollar pharmaceutical industry. Might be something to that. I’ll just keep eating my red meat, eggs and dairy and feeling superhuman. The foods they say are going to kill me 🤣
if you have good muscle building genetics, could you build muscle with sandbag and deadball
Absolutely when it comes to large muscle groups like your whole posterior chain, core and shoulders with press work but I would also fill the gaps with isolation and unilateral work like arms, single arm back exercises, shoulder accessory work like lateral raises etc.
I don’t have very good muscle building genetics so I try to work in the isolation and accessory work as much as I can for underdeveloped areas like my arms, traps and shoulders!
@@SandbagMisfit94 you do bro and thanks👍👍, this helped me
Anytime! Something I’ve learned through the years is to focus on what you can control and to stop worrying about things you can’t do anything about. You can always control whether you train or not and what you put in your body. So I focus on that entirely. I used to compare myself to and want bodies like other people but that steals the joy out of the pursuit and doesn’t benefit anything!
@@SandbagMisfit94 comparison is the thief of joy
amen brother
The confidence that comes from doing hard things on a daily basis is unmatched. It carries over to every aspect of life. 💪🏻
@SandbagMisfit94 truth
i believe it is bc of rom and it feels so much more natural to me
When I first got this sandbag and made a video of picking it up, I kept hearing people tell me that I was going to hurt my lower back. When in reality it’s the way your body was designed to lift 💪🏻
@SandbagMisfit94 amen
i have noticed the best benefits come to me from deadballs, they are heavy and you can throw them better
Back when I did CrossFit, the box I was at had a #100 and #150 heavy ball and my favorite was tossing it over the shoulder. Functional lifting stuff like that, stuff that involves obstacles and endurance is my sport 💪🏻
@SandbagMisfit94 same brother
Wow HOT dude 🔥🔥🔥

Your program is very nice dude! Unfortunatly for me i don't get enough time to train 6 days a week ahahah. Can you recommend a split for 3 days/week? Thanks, stay strong!
lol I can do a video on a 3 day sandbag split. With push-ups and pull-ups. I’m always tweaking and improving it though 💪🏻
I’ll have a 3 day split video on either Thursday or Friday! 💪🏻

Awesome! I’ve been tinkering with this split I’ve been doing for a few months and I want to make sure it’s tested and works before it drops 💪🏻
Great vid! How heavy is that sandbag? 😎👍🏻
It is a rogue 250lb strongman funnel. I have it completely filled now but at the time I made this video I had it at 230. Next week I’m going to make a video about maxing out the weight of it and the progress so far!
