I just want to say that I hope soon RSD will get a new classification (rename) and description in the next DSM, and in general public knowledge. I think RSD is a hyperspecifically exclusive and negative-symptom diagnostic category for a type or phenomenon that is much broader, including a cross-spectrum larger emotional threshold and awareness for individuals with this type. Meaning, I'm relatively confident that RSD is like if we were describing a rainbow as just red, while ignoring the rest. The rest of this spectrum of emotions includes (probably) ALL the emotions, or at least many more than just the feeling of rejection. Rejection-related emotions and triggers are genetically programmed in humans to be one of the most dire and urgent, probably second only to fear of direct physical threat. This is my guess why it is so debilitating that it rises to the level of needing therapy and / or psychiatric treatment. But, as far as far as RSD is just one sliver of the emotional experience of many NeuroDivergent folks, ***you'll be hard pressed to find someone with ADHD or HSP who says they only experience Rejection more intensely than other people.*** You're going to find that they experience joy, anger, confusion, fear, excitement, and even LOVE usually more intensely and frequently than a NeuroTypical person. I'm not the only one who notices that the sensitivity is not just related to rejection, I've been taking in an absurd amount of social and academic media pertaining to NeuroDiv people over the last couple years. This is a personal theory, but I highly suspect that there is some conflation (and confusion) between HSP (High Sense Perception / Highly Sensitive Personality) and RSD. And HSP is far more encompassing and empowering diagnostic than RSD, which is but one symptom of the whole. Regardless, even if my personal anecdotal survey of the ND / RSD / HSP world is somehow missing the big picture, I CAN'T WAIT FOR SCIENCE TO SHOW ME HOW I'M INCORRECT!
