Great show guys! It never ceases to amaze me how people can't just take what information they can use from a presentation and leave the rest and move on. By the way, to the ignorant person bashing Dr Ashby's study, the Ashby Foundation has picked up where Dr Ashby left off. Anatomy and physics are FACTS - they cannot be debated. Opinions are not facts. Chris and others are wrong on light arrows - they have a lot less momentum at those long distances they preach. The further they shoot the lighter they want to go - with less momentum and kinetic energy. Just like the heart sits in the V - period.

Bow Hunting to me was never meant to be a long range proposition, (( 60,70, 80, 100yrds )) the idea always was to get close and personal to a wild animal and go home with it, if you can shoot long distance good for you 😎👍I'm not that guy ... 😎🏹🦌

Best broadhead I’ve ever used. Switched last year and ended up tagging out in GA. One at 50 yards. They match my field points almost exactly. Taking them to Colorado for a bull in September and I have absolute confidence in my setup with VPA single bevel 150’s. Thank y’all for your great work. Customer for life.

Fairy did a test a few weeks ago and showed the difference in drop from a 400 something arrow and a 550 or 650 arrow and the difference in drop was not as much as most would think. Also the heavy arrow is Quieter and less stress in the bow plus more KE. Ranch fairy has always said pick the heaviest arrow u can that has an acceptable trajectory for you. Why do so many people get in there fillings about this. Maybe it’s because you no you are using an inferior arrow so u have to make it seem like others don’t no what they are doing! Shameful

shooting to try to keep the arrow inside the animal is a terrible idea. Animal stress, partial penetration, plugged hole, broken arrow.

A 3 or 4 blade broadhead helps.

Same can be done with archery or firearm, end up with a pass thur shot very little blood or in some cases no blood at all! It can happen to the best of us when u least expect it.

Anyone who has never set up and hunted with a 650+ grain arrow, I feel, has every right to tell the rest of us why it is wrong or stupid. Legitimately 😊

The problem is the delivery and who is delivering. Not everyone can ignore the “character” and listen to the content. If you dive into the Ashby report you’ll see weight is not top priority. And if they can shoot those crazy 800+ gn arrows at 20 yards and get pass through with a RECURVE BOW. You best believe I’m shooting 650 with a compound at 30 yards. Also people are basing this “bad flight” on videos. Not personal experience. Currently shooting a 250spine with 23%FOC at 644gn and that baby flies like a dream. Before that I had 250spine with 15%FOC at 650gn and that arrow after 40yards had a hellacious curve. As the FOC went up the flight became straighter. At the end of the day…… Shoot what makes you feel confident. If this information makes you second guess your current setup. Then look into it some more.

I feel like ranch fairy would hate my setup lol my biggest thing with shooting a "lighter" arrow(442gr) is the flatter arc. In my simple mind wouldn't less arc be more forgiving? I live in SD and it just makes sense for when longer shots present themselves. I'm trying to be open minded about a heavy setup but the only thing I see it being beneficial for is pigs, bears, buffalo... All of which I have yet to hunt. Great video and conversation fellas!

I was glad this video showed up in my feed. I met Troy in April. I won the Hog Hunt raffle he promoted for the Ashby Bowhunting Foundation. I met Rob Nielson the current president of the foundation. I also met Jeremy Johnson... one of, if not the best archery elk hunters in the country... i also got to meet the Doc himself. After spending 4 days with these guys, i got to review the Natal Study by listening to docs stories. Picking his brain was like entering a whole new world. I've been shooting 550gn single bevel for years after having some tough recoveries with a Sevr. Troy inspired me to start a channel. I'm currently following docs arrow build, including vane tuning... something nobody does. I've got the build on the channel. 655gn, 27.2% FOC and these things fly like absolute lasers out to 95 yards. IN HEAVY WIND!!! I've never had an arrow that shoots so well. I cannot wait to put it through an elk this september. Troy is ridiculously smart, and genuinely wants to help people be more successful. If people were more open minded, and actually tried it like you did, they would be pleasantly surprised. Good video and review, man. I'm giving you a sub.

Just an advice to the one being worried about his gap shooting out to 50-60 yards with his 550 grain arrow. Test it out and you will quickly learn that gap shooting with that setup is not that hard when you understand how to do it well and what little difference it makes with that arrow compared to a 450 grain arrow if the deer moves 2-3 yards further away or closer from where you measured it to be. You can very easily see that it has moved a bit away or a bit closer and not more than 5 yards and that tells you to aim a bit higher or a bit lower and you will punch the deer where you want as long as you execute your shot well.

Dudley is a clown that says so much BS that I wish that not a single hunter listened to him. Wen he talks it sounds like he has never gutted and butchered an animal in his life and there is no way he has examined what damage his broadheads have made to the vitals of the animals he has killed. Dudly is so extremely full of himself and he clearly thinks he is the best archer and bowhunter that has ever walked the planet and he is not listening to anyone but himself.

I’m sure you guys are busy but if you ever do get the time to do anymore real world testing like this video. I would love to see the same heads on 420 grain arrows and near 600 grain arrows both with 15% foc minimum and see the differences. I’d like to see if it’s more the heads or the actual weight.

Blue Wildebeest Africa 65-70 minimum suggested by outfitters is 500 gr, buffalo is 80# minimum 600gr+, giraffe 90# 600gr minimum Most outfitters suggest you get into elephant and a couple others you aren’t even allowed to hunt with archery equipment. You can bet your rear that if you go to Alaska and try to hunt grizzly with a 400 grain arrow I’d say the outfitters going to tell you to take a hike or get your own body bag for your remains. Am I saying everything that’s being said is 100% fact, No but I’m also not bashing a guy who has put the time in and figured something out either.
