The 4014 has an oil burner, right? Does anyone know? The size of that locomotive is hard to imagine. I'm from The Netherlands, i doubt it would fit within our borders 🤣😉

I thought the diesel freight engines we have in eastern Long Island (where the tracks are not electrified) were huge - 100 tons or so with 4000 - 5000 hp. But I just checked and Big Boy develops 6,290-7,000 hp! The diesels are faster, though- Big Boy's top speed is only 60mph.

I captured the same NS 131 in Slidell, LA around 2:40PM on Saturday, 2/17/2024 with the 5 FEC in tow, amazing!

3626 Was involved in a Derailment..but it didnt Derail..just the train cars..also NS 4458 was leading..so NS 3626 was the 3rd Engine

Not sure I would call this the MOST INSANE AMTRAK TRAIN.

What always amazed me about American trains, and even steam locomotives, is that they were always so HUGE, especially when compared to the trains we have in Britain. This was obvious in real life, but could even be seen on model train sets. They build big in America.
