NC Mainline Productions
Добавлен 1 апр 2017
Hi, my name is Noah and welcome to my RUclips channel, NC Mainline Productions! My main goal is to provide content of trains running down the mainlines here in the state of North Carolina. I'm based out of Cary, NC. But occasionally I will travel to other towns to witness their railroad activity. Every now and then, I'll post content on airplanes. Hope you all enjoy my content, and thank you for visiting my channel!

Amtrak 150 leads one of the last Genesis sets on the Amtrak Auto Train
We are only days away from Amtrak switching over locomotive power from the Genesis locomotives to the new Siemens ALC-42 chargers. The Genesis locomotives have been serving the Auto Train since their introduction in the 1990s.

P42DC locomotive startup and HEP activation on locomotive 22 leading the northbound Silver Star

*USE HEADPHONES* On a quick trip to the Amtrak station in Cary to watch the northbound Silver Star, ALC-42 charger 334’s “Head End Power” generator failed, providing no power to the coach and sleeper cars. This meant that the engineers of this train would switch all HEP duties to the lead P42, which required restarting the whole engine.

[HD] The Sounds Of A General Electric P42DC Locomotive

With the end of the Genesis era slowly coming into view, it is probably a good idea to capture these locomotives while they're still the main face of Amtrak. In this video, I decided to continuously record an example of a P42 Genesis locomotive in the idling position. I suppose you can consider this as a P42 ASMR video.

Does that mean the P42DCs will be retired this month or will they stay in service longer?
I would have gone to see that, but it came too late to my area.
Is this the Amtrak Crescent train?
You should hear 89’s horn. It’s nice, even though it is kinda foul a horn. But I love odd train horns, so that probably makes sense to you why I love that horn.
Best horn in existence
Crossing activates ~60 secs before the train. Gates close about 45 secs before. A bit too soon.
11:16 WHOOOP
I was extremely impressed! 😄
We should name this train "The SHOOTING STAR-R" #30 and #29
Great video is there way you can do video on how ride train and where are suitcase goes I’m going to Wisconsin Milwaukee soon I’m here in MC this will be my first time can you do vlog on that and also transfer to another train and do we have take suitcase with us on each train ride how does that work
I so agree that’s my favorite P42 lol
18:44 Oh no The BNSF helper Mexico train FXE with NS power is very fast screaming on the eastbound Hot shots no way! coming from stockton to willow springs
The silver star used to be very long back in the day and would split at Jacksonville
Awesome video!! Always loved the startup of the GE Genesis
Best sounding locomotive they ever made. From the whoop to the motor idle. You can feel it rhythmically thumping you in the chest to your feet.
GE Junk you mean
You mean the locomotives that Amtrak has used since 1997? The locomotives that have reliably stayed in very active revenue service for almost 30 years and still going strong? The locomotive that beats the ALC-42's 8 times out of 10 for reliability? The locomotive that doesn't need help from an older engine in colder climates? The locomotive that is much more fuel efficient that the new ones? The locomotive that's worlds easier to maintain than the new? Yeah, I'll stick to my GE Genesis locomotives. We'll pass you going 80+ while you're in a siding trying to figure out why you're engine won't work in the freezing cold.
How is GE a piece of junk? They have been making very reliable locomotives, vehicles, and appliances for a very long time. Especially the P42.
So addictive!! 🔥🔥
Omg

I love the sound that those diesels make, especially the whoop sound that the air compressor makes when it starts up.
Thank you for this video! Im doing this same journey (NJ to NC) later this year and have never gone by train before. Nice to see what I'm getting into
I commute on the MTA Danbury line every week. The branch line diesels really know how to make an entrance compared to the main line EMUs.
Why don't autotrains go everywhere
Not everywhere has the space for a the car racks along with trying to get clearance for the longest passenger train in the United States
The alc could never 😅😂😂
Nether did I
I would have the same reaction as everyone in the video
That sounds fantastic. I actually had a cab ride in this unit almost a decade ago. Glad to see it’s still kicking and got a horn upgrade.
Nice vid bro!
OK, can anyone tell me what that funny noise is after the locomotive starts to roll? not the bell or the whistle, but like something spooling up!!! thank you
if you talking about the whoop sound, its the air compressor startong. you can only find these exclusively on GE locomotives
P42DC’s are not electric
General Electric (GE) is the company that produced the P42DC.
Genius in the house🤓
They are part electric the diesel engine drives a generator which then supplies electricity to the traction motors which sit in between the wheels !!!!a basic answer!!!
@@chipsrafferty8362fr lmao
Sounds like a horn of Amtraks dash 8
Why a ten minute station stop? Even the Coast Starlight that I've taken many times has looooong station stops, even at little podunk middle-of-nowhere stations where only a handful of passengers get on or off.
If i remember correctly Cary is an extended stop and i recall having to do two stops to service the coaches and sleepers separately
This is great no cap
Awesome catches and video of this heritage unit on these different trains visiting this state
Love seeing 👀 and Riding hearing the Amtrak train All Abroad🎉❤
they go to tampa right?
I loved hearing F40's left in run 8 during station stops in Southern Pines, and Hamlet at night (91/92 , southbound).
5:35 We Also Hear This Whoop Sound On Every Engine Steam Sounded From GE ES44AC, Dash 9-44CW and AC4400CW.
I also Railfan in Cary! Sick
The silver starteor
and yet I thought some amtrak e60 horns were good sounding
Go,Amtrak 🎉❤Great 📸🚆🛤
