Cary Grant acrobatic skills in the movie Holiday (1938)

Cary Grant shows his acrobatic skills in the movie Holiday (1938), directed by George Cukor. When he was 14, Grant joined the Bob Pender Troupe, with which he trained as an acrobat, mime, juggler, and stilt-walker. In this movie, he performs his own stunts (although I'm not sure of the last bit of the scene with Katherine Hepburn).

All the clips contain spoilers! The first clip is from the movie "Little Fugitive" (1953) written and directed by Raymond Abrashkin (as "Ray Ashley"), Morris Engel and Ruth Orkin. The movie tells the story of Joey (Richie Andrusco), a child who thinks he has killed his older brother, who is only faking. Joey runs away and spend the day in Coney Island. "Little Fugitive" was the main inspiration...
anyone know the location of this place? Some people say its the Irsih Hills of southern california but online it says Rock of Dunamase, Co. Laois
Cary is great but Hepburn is insufferable!
I got this on DVD recently.mary badham is charming, delightful, and heartfelt as willy.i have read the play a few times.the movie is so gorgeous and sumptuous looking.stunning color and so well produced.natalie wood gives a riveting performance.kate reid is well cast as the uncouth mother with no heart of gold.robert Redford is the perfect match giving a strong tower of strength performance.what I like about alva is that she is not some one note caricatured floozy.she is no Scarlett o hara.she is the way she is because of a broken home, poor upbringing, and an immoral selfish mother who sickeningly smothers and domineers and bullied her to get what she wants.alva wants more from life and is capable of more but it is difficult because she is pigeon holes in a stifling home life and environment.glad I bought this movie on DVD.summer and smoke is another good movie I recommend.i saw it on VHS in 2000.i recently got it on DVD.
My favorite scene
Connery ❤ was so so cute 😊
This is the little boy who played in "Lassie".
She had the prettiest smile
Janet was so lovely and talented but with alcoholism and heart disease she passed away in her late 30’s 😢
Perfect presentation of what a healthy polarized attraction looks like.❤
I rewatched this for the first time in seven years, and I found myself crushing on her hard.
Holiday has always been one of my favorites of the classic comedies. They definitely used stunt doubles for the wide shot of the feat he does with Hepburn. You can see in that one shot of the actual tumble, they both are facing away from the camera. Perfectly planned out so they are facing the parents’ arrival in the following shot. Thanks for adding the spoiler alert for anyone who wants to look the whole film up.
I agree with you - they used stunt doubles for that scene. Cary's skills are still impressive, though. Holiday is one of my favourite comedies too! One of Cukor's best movies :)
My favorite film from Ireland🇮🇪☘☘
Might be the sadest movie of 1966.
Oh yes, so beautiful but so sad!
Yea it’s my favorite Natalie wood movie she’s so beautiful in it! But the ending caught me off guard and I wish it ended differently. But who’s ever reading this rent the movie it’s a good story but sad. She was 29 went it came out.
Leave it to Pony to ruin the moment... for now.
Good thing you stopped before the scene with Pony. Leave it to Pony Sugrue to ruin the perfect moment... for now.
lol, I uploaded the scene with Pony here ruclips.net/video/MOvYStu-LPs/видео.html
So that's where Connery first learned to be a ladykiller ! Slainte, Sir Sean ! from all of us who try very hard to be as smooth as you ! May you chat up a thousand angels in the heaven where you most certainly are !
this movie is really what got connery noticed by Cubby Broccoli and wife, who cast him as james bond in Dr.No
Especially the fight scene with Pony
Ah, the Irish Hills of the Southern California film studio lot 😆
😂😂
Is it that obvious? Most of the film was shot on Disney's ranch.
Who would have thought that sir sean connery would be in a Disney movie? (LOL) wow, I guess disney was the netflix of that era. It always had stars that you'd NEVER thought you would see there
Sad movie well acted by all.
Quite a crack-up to me, seeing Connery pre-Bond.
Did you know it seeing him in this movie that got him the part of James Bond.
Mary Badham is so natural onscreen she makes it look effortless.
She's great!
She brought her characters to life. A natural for sure.
She is almost like Bjork.
Yes! Looks so much like her!
this is the sweetest thing ever , RIP Sir sean
Janet Munro was SUCH A BEAUTY in this film. Rest In Peace to both her and Connery.
They're all dead now
I thought he looked like a Disney prince, only to realize this IS a Disney film
True :) But more similar to Flynn Ryder than in the style of the "wooden", one-dimensional princes (like the ones of Cinderella or Snowhite).
@@cinemamonamour3113 absolutely. The other princes look artificial & childish
It’s more than a Disney film to me.
Sean connery in disney film?. No wonder disney wants to buy 007 franchise.
@@omardiaz3557 this is actually what got him the role of james bond
Janet munro que niña tan hermosa
Lucky girl! Gorgeous talented Sean... RIP you will be missed....
This song has a beautiful melody & sometimes a bit of extra cutesy in the lyrics isn't such a bad thing!😂
Damn she was pretty ❤️
And died so young. 38.......
So was he 😆
Yes, she was very beautiful. Such a shame she died so young.
When men and women really liked each other. I was born in the wrong era. 😔
If all girls, in Ireland, looked like Janet Munro, then that's where I'd be living right now.
Take a walk down shop street in Galway on a Saturday afternoon, plenty of Irish eyecandy to observe 😉
You and me,both 😜
This is so cute to me 😊
Sean here was to die for 🧡
You really had to run to "get the girl."
