  • Cary Grant shows his acrobatic skills in the movie Holiday (1938), directed by George Cukor.
    When he was 14, Grant joined the Bob Pender Troupe, with which he trained as an acrobat, mime, juggler, and stilt-walker.
    In this movie, he performs his own stunts (although I'm not sure of the last bit of the scene with Katherine Hepburn).

    Holiday has always been one of my favorites of the classic comedies.
    They definitely used stunt doubles for the wide shot of the feat he does with Hepburn. You can see in that one shot of the actual tumble, they both are facing away from the camera. Perfectly planned out so they are facing the parents’ arrival in the following shot.
    Thanks for adding the spoiler alert for anyone who wants to look the whole film up.

      I agree with you - they used stunt doubles for that scene. Cary's skills are still impressive, though. Holiday is one of my favourite comedies too! One of Cukor's best movies :)
