Thank you...good tips. But I wonder if using a hot glue gun would have also worked?
@@misottovoce Might but probably will not last. About 1.5 years after the video/fix, it detached again. I ended up buying a new one (yikes $200) and swapped them out. I think I did a video on that. Good luck
@@mcmcminicooper I will be selling my Mini Cooper 2007 model and wanted a quick fix...but then realized the hot gun glue may be too stiff to roll back. (I have a Mini Countryman now). Thanks again!

FYI- you defo need the long sensor socket (there is a short version socket, which is not even close to being long enough).
Do you have a part number for the outer seal that goes onto the roof

Hi! You solve your problem? And how?
@@jpreezzPR there was a couple problems and not exactly sure which one fixed the problem. The coolant connector was cracked but that probably wasn’t the cause of the coolant light coming on. I replaced the thermostat assembly 2 years ago and it seems to have failed again. The replacement thermostat assembly was slow at opening and then it had trouble opening which caused the engine to overheat. After it overheated the second time, the thermostat is now stuck open. At the right temperature outside, about 89 or 90, I get the warning light that the engine coolant isn’t reaching its optimal temperature. The computer knows the outside temperature and calculates the engine should have reached a specific temperature after a certain time. These Mimi’s are a guessing game in trying to figure out what is wrong. Good luck
@@mcmcminicooper thanks!
Never use copper grease in combination with steel and aluminium. The metals will weld together trough the heat.
I just did this but now my car won’t start. I disconnected the battery while I was installing the new bracket and I stared the car a few times during the process to make sure I did the wiring right. After I finished and reconnected the battery for the final time the car didn’t start. Do you have any idea what could be happening?
@@MAS73 This is really strange. Sounds like you reconnected the battery several times during the process to make sure the wiring was correct but after the last battery connection, the car didn’t start. Is that correct? Did you only disconnect the negative or positive or both?
Jesus, this roof rack was so confusing. Thank you so much for uploading this. Got myself a rubber mallet and it just nicely, gently, moved into place.

How do I know is the Freon and not the compressor? Asking because mechanic can say is compressor to get money
I could hear the AC relay trying to click on. The thermometer at the air vent showed that the AC was trying but not pushing the temperature low enough. I had AC problems with my van. I was pretty sure it wasn’t low Freon but tried charging it anyways. The AC system did not take any Freon, so the AC compressor was shot.

@@mcmcminicooper how much around to fix? It has 59k miles one owner, no accidents at all
I keep getting a 2B4F code. MAF sensor on my scanner. I put on a new one, and it throws the code again about 5 miles down the road, and the car starts to shut off/bog down. Any thoughts? 2009 base model.
Check the MAF connector for cracks or loose wiring. Long shot, change out the air filter if you haven’t done so.
Are you sure the pin couldn't be inserted through the holes in the door and through the green rubber seal and lock in? The new connector has square holes in the door larger than what's needed for just the wire. How did Mini do it? Appears to me that you took a big chance of breaking an expensive new connector when you removed the grey part.
Don’t remember for sure. If you can push the connectors through the door and green rubber seal and have it lock in, then I would do it that way. I think I had trouble making sure it all fit and clicked in.
Most likely Mini buys the harnesses made from someone to their specifications. So the harnesses are assembled at a factory where they have all the tools and equipment for cutting, stripping and crimping the connectors
Appreciate this series for the R56. Not too many useful videos out there but these three were super helpful. Thank you
I did what you did and it worked. Awesome. Thank you so much. 🙏
Better than removing the deflector which someone else did in another video. Good luck with your Mini
You saved my a ton of money, time and trip to the dealership. 55$ at auto zone and I'm driving cool in Texas. God bless you!
Hello, thanks for the video. Im currently encountering the same problem with one difference; I drove to the shop, paid 400usd and they gave me back my Mini with new coils and car is making clunky noise. So I drove back, and they promised to fix it, two days later they called me, everything is fine, but in fact they didn't even touch the car. So now im looking for somebody who can fix it, since I dont have any tools and doing it on the street is illegal. But thanks for bringing ideas of what can be wrong.
Yeah, the clunky noise for me was I didn’t bolt down the top shock plate all the way down so this left free play every time I hit a bump. Looking at it or even pushing down on the car doesn’t show anything wrong unless the shock assembly is pulled out again. Good luck
Thank-you for this solution. Worked right away.
I don’t think you need the wooden plug to enable pushing the crossover pipe into the water pump. I put a new crossover pipe loosely in place, joined the thermostat housing to the crossover pipe and pushed the retaining spring thing in place. I could then get all the purchase needed to easily push the crossover pipe home into the back of the water pump. I put loads of water soluble lube on the end of the crossover pipe. No need to take off the manifold or struggle to refit the retaining spring thing after pushing the crossover over pipe home.
I like your suggestion. Never thought of connecting the thermostat assembly to crossover tube and then use the thermostat assembly as a way to push the pipe on. Much easier than trying to push the tube on by itself.
Thanks for posting the video, it was really helpful.
Thank you so much for your help!!!!
How do you torque it down
You can try to get a torque wrench in there but I tighten by feel. Most likely I tighten slightly more than needed.
I have a 2011 Honda Ridgeline. I ordered it straight from WeatherTech with no problems. From ordering to installing, I had no problems! However, at high speeds (80+ miles per hour) the deflector rattles so bad that it shakes my rear view mirror! Does anyone else have this problem?
I have not seen this. See what happens when the side windows are open too. Must be unusual airflow

I want to thank you 🙏🏽 Sir for explaining the gasket positioning prior to setting housing back in. I've been trying to smash this thing in for an hour before I watched your "how to" vid. Thank you for explaining that process bro. I really appreciate you!
Thanks for the video. I believe this is my P0036 trouble code.
I want to offer you thanks on a silver platter. I went back to the task of replacing the fuel filter this morning and in a short time was able to fit the top of the fuel filter system back on and secure it with the metal ring. Today's new approach which worked--- 1. I froze the rubber seal overnight to cause it to contract. It was my wife's idea, and she is both brilliant and quite beautiful, and I listen. 2. I placed the rubber seal into its position more carefully this time by suspending the filter with baling twine (I farm) from the Oh Sh--- handle in the back seat passenger side and I was able to run my fingers 100% around the "in place" seal ensuring that there were no twists nor bumps. 3. I used the rubber hammer idea and hammered with one hand while slowly turning the metal ring with the other until it caught a tooth. From there I hammered more gently until the gradual rotation of the ring stopped and was securely in place. I am so overjoyed at this that I haven't bothered to try to start it. I want to enjoy this small victory for a few minutes. Have I said, "Thank you kindly," yet? I can't say that enough. Thank you kindly.
Thanks (to your brilliant wife) on the tip. Great when there are victories. Great 👍

So yeah..everyone has an air compressor in their garage right..why didn't say this would require one first..horrible tutorial..only for limited people..useless to most
Didn't show how you got the last rubber gasket in. I'm still wondering. Mine won't fit back so far.
I just rolled them onto the groove
I believe mine is a "smidgin" too large...there's a wrinkle and I've tried working it all afternoon. Guess I'll reorder the kit or try to find a mechanic. Everything else went like clockwork, and say, thank you grandioso for the speedy reply...above and beyond my friend.
P0136 code. Replaced both O2 sensors and code still returns after driving 10-15 miles. I’m at a loss…..
Check the connectors to the O2 sensors that they aren’t damaged ad full seated
how did you connect the end of the cable to the latch release...
They should remedy it regardless if it is showing signs of corrosion yet. Just because it isn’t causing issues today doesn’t mean it won’t tomorrow!
I don’t know if they figured out how to fix the problem
I had a 2010 mini Cooper with a Lean o2 code AND it wound up being the brake booster and I was perplexed because the booster had a mechanical vacuum pump but I unplugged the booster and put My fingers over the vacuum pump and the trim valve started to correct it self so I changed out the brake booster and the problem was fixed.😊
Please don't do this...... Diy isn't for everybody, call a professional dear God.
True, Definitely if you never worked on car
When you pull back the weather stripping to pop the inside panel away, is it easy to put back or do you have to use some sort of glue?
The weather stripping around the door is a dry fit. It doesn’t use glue or any adhesive. It just presses on. Good luck
Bruh....it sounds like a hurricane cause you have your vents throwing air out lol it doesn't have to be fast air, if your mic is receiving airflow it's going to pick it up. Thanks for the video though. Did help me out.

Hi, I have 2008 r56 n12 and it’s driving me crazy. It’s heating up and displaying warning (red oil symbol) but the cooling fan does not turn on. The fan turns on when the AC is on or when I unplug the coolant temperature sensor (safe mode). I have replaced the sensor but no use. Any ideas? Could it be the connector? The ECU knows the car is hot because it displays the warning but won’t turn the fan on! Thanks
Get an OMB2 reader that will send the information to your phone (I think I did a video on the one I got). You’ll be able to see the coolant temperature and a bunch of other readings. If the coolant is not getting to fan temp to turn on (200F ??) then it may be another problem. In another video, I was having a similar problem. When the engine got to temp, my oil light came on. I suspected that 10W 30 was too light so I switched to a heavier oil and it fixed the problem. When the oil heats up it becomes even lighter and thinner. Also may want to check your oil pressure switch. Good luck. I had a very
Thank you for the information. I think you’re correct, it is the oil pressure. I monitored the temperature, with the car parked, and got the warning at 105c. If I increase the rpm (I.e. increase the flow), the warming disappears. I continued until the temperature reached 112c and the fan turned on. Whenever I have the rpm at ideal and temperature over 105c, the warning shows up. I’ll get a new pressure sensor and if it doesn’t solve the problem, I’ll put thicker oil. What viscosity do you recommend? Currently has 5w30 Thanks
@@ImadAssaf Mini manual list 0W-40, 0W-30, 5W-40, 5W-30 as recommended weights. Mini repair, Castro, and Oil in Car specify similar weights too. I switched from 5W-30 ito 5W-40 in the summer. Winter I use 0W-40 or 5W-30. Good luck
Thanks again!
@@ImadAssaf Forgot about one more thing I did. I read that some aftermarket oil filters may collapse when the engine heats up thus causing oil not to flow through the filter - drop in oil pressure. I ve been using a better quality oil filter since changing the oil grade.

I suggest getting an OEM replacement. The aftermarket I got had problems.
@@mcmcminicooper Which aftermarket did you get?
@@mrkzj Facet 78927K from Rockauto.com
The replacement seemed to open fully late, not until 221 - 230 F. After a couple of coolant engine overheating warnings, it seemed to have better the response. The thermostat opens sooner or is partially stuck open, not sure, but seems to keep the engine under 200 F.
