What Grenada looks like After Hurricane Beryl (2024)
Witness the aftermath of hurricane Beryl in Grenada, Caribbean less than 24 hours after she struck.
The morning after hurricane Beryl hit Grenada, I traveled from my home in the island’s capital, St George to one of the hardest hit areas in the most northerly parish.
The recovery effort was remarkable with streets cleared and fallen trees cut to enable services to travel the island. The garbage collection service even made it to our door!
However, with power and phone lines down I traveled by car to my home parish of St Patrick in the north of Grenada, to search for three elderly relatives who I was unable to reach.
Hope this video reassures you as to the state of Grenada, even in the north....

I’m curious about how to find work in Antigua what platforms / website do you find jobs abroad. I’m from the uk, and planning my move to Antigua.
I would like to know more. If you would like or be able to talk about moving there. Please let me know.
Люблю Гренаду не была там ❤ но я приду к вам ❤❤я вас всех люблю я обажаю ГРЕНАДУ ! Я родилась в России ❤
You are so right, and you are very brave to talk such truths. The drivers are reckless, aggressive, and don't have any consideration for other road users. There are almost always no sidewalks, and the vehicles take priority over humans. The potholes become more plentiful and more dangerous each day, and road repairs are neglected. Staff dealing with the public are mostly condescending, rude, disrespectful, impolite, and unhelpful. Most workers seem to be bitter and unhappy in their jobs. Their pay is abysmal. Most workers are on temporary contracts, including public service workers with over 10 years service on temporary contracts. So most workers are not entitled to paid holidays or paid sick leave, and can be sacked with zero hours notice and with no reason given. This has a detrimental effect on how they treat customers. There seems to be no set criteria for opening a bank account. The bank staff seem to decide on the basis of whether they like or dislike you, regardless of what documents and references you produce, unless you are white, and they hate you if you are a Black JCB. It's to do with slave mentality. If you are Black, you need to know someone who knows someone that works in a bank in order to open a bank account.
Nonsense!!! I easily opened 3 bank accounts in grenada.

I am of Jamaican descent and I'm doing my research on where I'll be moving aboard to live. For as long as I can remember, my spirit has never been at peace in the U.S. I appreciate my parents migrating to the States so I can have opportunities they didn't. However, I still face systematic barriers that make me resent my society. I'm a modest woman who wants to raise her children to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life. I've considered Jamaica, and I love my culture, but there are a few things that don't sit well with me when it comes to their healthcare, crime, and economy (which, to your point, is heavily rooted in tourism). Decisions, decisions.
By chance came across this video looking at options for change, very uplifting and relatable thank you 💫
You're most welcome!
Wow it’s exactly how you describe it the cliffs the roads the calm peace
3:25 OMG, she is speaking out of my heart
The mirror image had me confused
This profound. I’m having the same transformation and channeling and now writing about it. Thank you Zoe for bringing this into our consciousness 🤍I would love to know how her life is now.
You speak very well. Pleasure to listen to.
I remember when I worked at Le Phare Bleu (many moons ago) and I believe GIZ bought in a water specialist back then and he was staying at the hotel. He was scared for Grenada as he knew we were going to run out of water, even without any development. This was probably 10/12 years ago and he was working on a document putting his recommendations forward. Someone even paid for a huge desalination unit that sat there and rusted away. Yes, lets look forward, life is about timing and let's hope the timing is right now.
Hello I hope all is well. Are you still in Guadeloupe? I am researching for my retirement spot. However, I’m so afraid Of struggling with the language barrier. I hope to find an expat of English speakers. Respectfully, Sharron
my wife and I just returned from Grenada last week and decided that is the place for us as well. We have friends that live there. We, like John and his family, are stuck living in Northern Virginia. Zoe, I recently wrote you an email with more details, hope you have time to connect. Thank you for your wonderful content.
My grandfather, born in Granada, Caribean, his name was Calton Shockness. My great-grandparents, was Charles Nataniel Shockness, and Catherine Thomas Shockness
Thank you for this information. My wife and I just returned from Grenada last week and we would like to retire to the island. We have friends there and would like to buy a home on the North end, St. Patrick’s area. We are US citizens, wife is AfAm, I am Caucasian, we felt very welcomed during our time there, unlike here in the U.S. We have grown children and have faced so many issues because of our family. The kids went through so many issues when they were in school and I was deeply discriminated against at my job because of my family. We just want to move in a more rural area of the island, maybe run a B&B. We stayed in Mont Tout/close to Grand Anse Beach and really connected with the people, we walked all over and enjoyed the beach and eating at the local eateries, we both enjoyed the peaceful way it became in the evenings, just sat in our porch and had or something to eat. Now we are back in the very cold, racially polarized Virginia and missing the beautiful Grenada. Hope to go back and stay in St. Patrick next Spring. Love your channel.
Histirian Hall gas done some wirk on Julien Fedon.
Great to follow this movement to keep Grenada Carriacou and Petit Martnique's family tree alive. Trying to find out exactly what is the connection of a place, in the mountain sometimes refered to as , or called Zulu Mountain., Peggy's Whim. Question on my mind is , if connected to the Zuku tribe of Africa. Keep up this important work .
I think the Caribbean should be another continent
I would love to visit Grenada and see the island.
My grandma calls this the “pumpkin vine”
Peace peace Zoe.
Thank you so much for this, I have been looking for ways to get involved in my parents home country as a water professional. This video was very informative!
Hello, do you still do calls?
Lovely video. Keep up the content looking forward to the next video
I had a vision of a bay back when I barely had a pot to pee in. Back when I working so much, it took me time to get my Druthers together. This is an excellent video. Kulcha, baby.
Thank you for this video. I’m here on holiday now and plan to come back and hope to spent 2-3 months at a time. Be great to connect.
Do a video of your basic grocery shopping
Hi Loved the interview Is he on social media ? If so what are his handles wanna do work with him.
I'm interested in visiting, where should I go to really see if I'd like to relocate there?
Thank you . This was a refreshing take on our country. All my life lve dreamed of moving to grenada & contributing to my country but i didn't know how to make the impact
I need to meet this lady. I just started my healing journey outside the US and I need all the help and encouragement I can get!
Does the speaker have an Instagram or some form of social media. I’m looking for relocate to belize

Different attitudes, and a lot more love, america laws killing black people, don't be afraid to say it, im living it in america, racist, hate, and greed keeping black skin people at the bottom. 45 years hear😂im bout ready to burn out, peace and love 👍
This is so inspiring! It really gives me hope about striving abroad and keeping my ties back to the US where my family is based. Grenada is definitely on my list and I am so excited to visit and see if I can plant a seed. So excited!!
Beautiful sister
"They", the ones running tings "behind the curtain" are trying to keep the locals poor. There's no good reason why food should be inported from other countries into grenada (costing over £50 million). There's plenty land to grow an abundance of "healthy organic" food on the island.
Are u still in Belize?
This Gentleman is so right. I’m from Grenada. Been living in the US for over 30 years and I still miss Grenada. It’s just something about Grenada that you cannot find elsewhere. I would love to invest in improving Grenada’s medical infrastructure. That way I can retire there comfortably. Thanks for sharing this information. Much appreciated!
Thanks for this great info! I live in Jamaica where they should be able to solve this problem since we have so many rivers. I don't know why we still have a water problem.
Driving on pothole damaged, narrow windy roads in Jamaica is one of the biggest cons of living in Jamaica. There are a lot of cliffs without guardrails and shoulders that make driving very scary here. Plus we have taxi drivers who don't care about driving safety. But I still love my life here. So I understand your experience exactly
We have the parasites moving here and our government doesn't want to take steps to limit the damage it will cause in future. Some of us get frightened by foreigners who are buying our lands and properties taking away the chance for younger Jamaicans to develop and own properties.
I never met a Grenadian who wasn't extremely nice. Honestly, they're such beautiful people. Can you believe the USA invaded this paradise 😮?
It depends! If you're talking about rich non-Black ex-pats who want to buy all the land and properties then yes. If you're talking about Black Americans and Black Canadians UK who just want to live in harmony then we welcome 🙏 them. Black people need a safe space
