This video looks at the acronym RAFT or RAF(G)T as a way to transition from one place ot another, a way to say goodbye to friends, family, pl...

Just subscribed! Love your videos. We made the move to HK two months ago. Your videos capture the bittersweetness of moving abroad perfectly. Hope you find somewhere you love. We made Yuen Long our home. ❤
Welcome to HK. I would suggest Lohas Park where you could find apartment abt 70sqm at the price of HKD20K - 25K, and you could reach HK Island such as Wanchai 15 min. by drive or 20min by MTR.
As a Hong Konger, Welcome to 🇭🇰 ~!! How about your lovely cats ?
A proper update on them will come in a few weeks! But as a spoiler--they are now VERY-well travelled.
Welcome to HK, no the weather in HK is not nice in summer. It will be HOT and Humid!! You might have this good weather for about 5-6 month. And yes people normally dry cloth next to the windows but some washing machine are 2 in 1 so you can dry it after you wash directly. GL
You guys should live in Discovery bay, that’s the best
I’ve heard such great things about Discovery Bay!
Hongkong is a good country
Hongkong is a good country
Recently rent on the south side of hk Island has dropped a lot. Eg repulse bay or even tai Tam. There are many bargains in pokfulam where it is not linked by mtr but they are close to beaches and usually Bus network is great. You will love those areas. I live on the south side and there are many expats
I’ve heard lots of great things about the south side of the island!
@KayaMarriott time for bargain hunt as rent has gone down a lot on this side of the island. Trail and sandy beaches are at your doorsteps. If you like outdoor and wish to live in a nice part of hk, South side.
8:34 you should be able to install an iron rod here for hanging clothes. Of course you need permissions from the landlord
what is your husband job in HK? and there is no language barrier?
He is a teacher! And not really, almost everyone speaks at least a bit of English. And anytime they haven’t, Google translate has been great!
Shake Shake fries!! They should give you a little bag to mix it all up. Enjoy HK :)
Next time!😂🤦🏽♀️
I miss this traffic ❤
Aww where abouts are you now?
Welcome to hong kong My whole fam immigtated to vancouver in 1994 , went to uni in windsor ontario then moved back to hk in 2008
You’re into the cooler months. Hong Kong gets steamy and humid heading into April-May
Ahh I think I acclimatized too quickly, I’m freezing now 🤣
@@KayaMarriottI just left about a week ago, just as it was getting cool haha
Stupid. Paying that money to live in HK but the conditions are poorer than China or elsewhere in Asia
Welcome to HK ❤❤
welcome to HK
what's wrong with you people?😂😂 seriously? HK?
Hong Kong is so small that even with a commute it shouldn't be such a hassle, so I don't think it is necessarily essential that you live close to the place of work. Travelling by MTR is super convenient and any journey within Kowloon and Hong Kong Island should take no more than 45 mins max.
Support!
It is overrated.
After 1997 ,this city is dying ...
Expecting your next Video!
Thank you!! Working on the edit now!
HONG KONG 1968
Welcome to HK. You moved to HK; I moved to Vancouver. Housing maybe expensive but EVERYTHING ELSE in HK is 2X to 3X cheaper than Vancouver. How I wish I am back in HK. Just make sure you don't shop like an expat but shop like a local. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM CITYSUPER AND YATA SUPERMARKETS!! LOL!
Welcome to my HK.
HK is my hometown. I hope you’re enjoying it
Thank you--I absolutely am so far!
Awesome video guys, as a born and bred Hong Konger, I love seeing people exploring my home city! I live in a residential area near Mong Kok called Prince Edward, it's also a great area for you guys and should fit within your budget.
Welcome to Hong Kong guys, this is adorable! My partner and I ADORE La Vache!
Thank you!! And I now adore it too!! So good!
I moved to Hong Kong from Singapore in 1993 for work. Left before the 1997 china take over. Luckily for me, I was provided with accommodation for 3 years. Part of the HK Health Authorities benefits. Now I am living and working in Australia. Soon I will be retiring and easing into my golden years. Go for the adventure, gal. The wotld is your oasis.
Welcome to Hong Kong
Thank you!!
I grew up in Hong Kong and made a big move to Australia on my own, feel the same as you and thought I would not able to see my friends and family for long time (smart phone was not yet widely used at that time). After some years in Australia, life has turned over and I bought my Australian husband to Hong Kong again. We have been living in HK since then, just over 12 years now. We actually not really feel so far from Australia, and one of the good things of your husband working in international school, he will have a lot of hoilday, can travel many asian countries within 3 hours flight, and flight back to Canada is affordable with the income. We considered the move in HK make us in a better financial poistion, we traveled most asian countries now, and will go back Australia to see family for twice a year. Our kid is also studying in international school and loving it.
Why move if no place live or leave to last min
Unfortunately that’s just how the timing worked out with our visas coming through and my husband’s start date. The problem too is that it’s hard (near-impossible we’ve been told) to secure an apartment without a HKID, but you need to come here first to get it, so you can’t start looking until after you arrive.
Lucky I wish I can move to Hong Kong
People are moving out of there these days.
Wishing you two many many more years of love and laughter:)
@@lisachiu7096 thank you so much!! 💜
Welcome to HK!! Winter is much better time to be outdoors! Recommendations include hiking dragons back then ending with a nice swim. Keep hunting for places with balcony. There are def places in HK island with roofs or patios. Little bit older buildings but nice nonetheless wan chai, Ktown, Tin Hau.
There's a bag for you to shake the fries together with the seasoning!
😭 I didn't realize, I'll do better next time!
My family and I miss Hong Kong so much, although we live in the states. My daughter misses him t so much she has decided in her mind that she’s moving there (she’s only 14). It’s a good thing I family tons of family there. HK does have a very different vibe! Good luck on your adventures there!
Aw thank you for sharing and for the wishing of luck! We are really enjoying it so far, but of course likely have some rose coloured glasses in the honeymoon phase!
Try Sai Ying Pun of your budget, more foreigners there
Beautiful couple. Very sweet. Wish you many happy years together
