Hi, Kaya. If you have any coffee grounds, try drying them in the sun for a few days. Once dried, spread them on the soil around your plants. The smell of coffee grounds can deter ants, as they are not fond of it. Experience of a roof owner, it’s a good idea to install a shade net (available on Taobao) over the flat roof for the plants before summer. This will protect them from excessive heat and also serve as a barrier against lightweight trash, such as eggshells. 🤣
Have you guys met your compatriots Sam & Victor? They may give U some helpful information about living in HK, especially cafes.

$5000 lesson is good for you..don't easily trust people
It was approx 5000 for everything over the two weeks, so included the outdoor furniture, air purifier, gogovan, dirt, rocks, pots, plants, etc. Definitely not cheap, but don't think we were scammed--we just indulged a bit. 😅
I’d love to watch Darren do some plant episodes. I’m in hk too with a patio wondering what plants are good in this sub tropical climate
Be mindful that the building may not be able to withstand all that weight of soil and water. It could collapse if you transform it into a full blown garden
Very true--ours is solid but don't think we would ever get it to a FULL garden anyways, would be too difficult to manage in a typhoon. 😅

You may consider putting some insecticide such as Imidacloprid which cost you 20-30 bucks only.

The plant with pink flowers is so adorable. 🥰🥰By the way, I would love to recommend islands in HK, such as Cheung Chau/ Lamma Island which are good weekend spots.
I'm so in love with the tree! It bloomed again after receiving it, and now it's sleeping for winter! Oh great recommendations! We've done Cheung Chau but haven't made it to Lamma yet!

Outdoor is fine if it’s a rooftop or a huge balcony. I think as locals we were taught to live on top floors to avoid flood, clogs, bugs, and flying objects including humans. Cheers!

watch out the typhoons between July and Oct in hk, if it's an 8 or 10, many of your plants outside won't survive. so make sure you have enough indoors to move them to
Yess! This was actually in September so we moved them to an inner corner and tied them up for two 8s and it was okay-though locals told us those were barely 8s. 😅
@@KayaMarriottYes, this year's T8's were really mild! It was a good year, nothing too bad at all. We've been through Manghut & Hato, a T10 is very different and you'd definitely need to bring plants in. ❤

🥹💜 I actually have the best story. So the snow man had either been bought by or maybe gifted to a family friend like 20 years ago. And then for our wedding, the same family friend, gifted it back so that it could stay within the family. I was so surprised and touched. 😭 I had to get my parents to bring it here for us.
