Yeah baby
this makes me want to go look for fossils 😔 ik itd be so fun
its so amazing to see creatures from millions of years ago . also the process of fossilization is just mind boggling yk . petrified wood , bugs and other things being preserved in sap or whatever , its so cool . i love this, thank you
Great to see the kids out there doing it!
Aw my gosh, i so want to go there and find some beauties. Your daughter is adorable, how lucky to have a dad to teach her about natures wonders
@@rhyleesmumX thanks so much! Have just recently returned there, will have another video to share soon!
That split on the Leptomithrax is amazing. Quite the variety of species you get up there!
@@craigwoodward3361 it is indeed, thanks for watching. A huge variety, taranaki is very special in that way
WOW awesome crab trip, so many great crabs, love it!!!
@@rickross2709 thanks so much for watching!
Some great finds for sure. Epic prep.
Cheers Bruce!
The big Rimu (not totara) gave it away..
Is it a rimu ??? How do u tell. Also I’ll change that in my book thank u 🙏
What's the benefit of hitting them open with a hammer as opposed to prepping them out? Does it make much difference to the quality? Awesome vid, thanks!
Hey there um it’s 50.50 sometimes you may get a better break then you can get working them and sometimes they shatter ….. so yea depends on rock.. some are good enough to not hit. Also aloooooooooot of empty eggs
Hitting a rock at location does save bringing home too many dud concretions! If a concretion has evidence of the fossil on the outside, thats a different story and will then potentially wait to prep them out. No evidence on the outside, then they usually get a crack to find out what is inside!
The voyce over is not constant and hardly to hear.
@@fado792 sorry for that. Am working on new mic options 👍
Stauralite
Gentlemen - most interesting -amazing place for crab fossils but difficult to extract whole. I suggest smaller screwdriver tools and thin chisels rather than heavy geologist's picks.
How cute are you two. Thanks for sharing ❤
@@Remedy-my2ml thanks 😊 that girl is now nearly 10 🤯😲 weve just been back to that same spot so will have another video for you soon! Thanks for watching
@@forfossilssake she's a real gem alright and a natural and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if she can communicate with them as I'm sure your aware they are so much !ore than pretty rocks, and know they are a technology and are used widely throughout the world in our phones, computers etc. Loving your styles folks, keep 'em coming. A special thanks 🙏💐🍻❤️ for sharing your adventures coz some of us either have a hard time getting out n about while many can't get out at all. U keep this world alive and real just as we remember it 🍻💐
Are we gonna get more videos about this find?
Thank you!! I could definitely do more videos about this.. unfortunatley I was so excited this is the only preparing footage I took. I have a few other new speices under my belt though, videos coming soon, so stay tuned!
Congrats
Absolutely beautiful
Amazing!!!
a monster crab
Magical crab hunt!!
was awesome... sooo many finds!
Great work from the hard working team!
cheers bruce, was an epic weekend out for sure!
Mate you can tell your daughter was truely enjoying herself finding all those treasures 👍 And you made me and the wife laugh with your “ooshh” 😅
@@Inkrebelnz bless, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Rewatching this is crazy, that girl is now 9 🤯 and probably better at spotting gems now than me!! 😅 thanks for following along!
Hii, where is it??
Hi this is in Taranaki, North Island West Coast
Why do they look like spent ammunition
@@805drift so interesting eh! Its simply the shape of their internal skeleton
@forfossilssake dude it looks like spent ammo lol.. it fooled me big time
The look: good The taste: expired gradma milk The smell: dog shit
Very cool finds and always great to see the kids having some fun. Go the inland Taranaki!
Thanks Bruce! Will have to come visit your way soon 😊
What is that crab species
Hi there, this is the ventral of a Tumidocarcinus Giganteus 🦀
The colours are very cool and clean. Enjoy your shorts 😊
Thanks for watching 🤗
We're is the valley?.. Looks like West Coast South Island.. Awesome fun 👍
Cheers, is always fun with this crew! This is filmed inland North Island 👌
If there is a New Zealand then where is Old Zealand?
Haha. Old Zealand is buried underneath, im diggin it up, one rock at a time 😅
@@forfossilssake thank you for your efforts, I just saw a video about an archaeological dig in Miami & land developers were pushing for them to "hurry up".
@@raymondjjohnsonjr363 such a shame. Thats how important archeological history gets destroyed right 😲 i can only imagine how many fossils are destroyed in NZ as they bulldoze new roads and highways
@@forfossilssake Miami just took down a large building. Archaeologists have a limited amount of time to discover what they are going to discover before the new building has to go up.
"old" Zealand is in Denmark
They look awesome!
Thank you so much 🙏
Awful music selection. 👎
Will search for a better selection of music!
Always have been facinated by fossils, guess I will see where this interest will lead me to.
Totally. I mean you can't go wrong with taking a walk in nature can you 😜
Dry cool. Love your videos
Thanks so much 🙏
Wow two months ago just came up on my feed. Lots of the team there huh. I see Harry had the bear feet even up the valley!?!?. Pretty sure I've a bit of a crab from from this hunt he dropped off. Great to see them prepped. Bloody good effort. Super impressive to see the team in action doing the mahi. Valley of the crabs I guess it is entirely likely there are other aquatic animals there too.
Haha cheers mate. Thanks for the watch. Dont think I've ever seen Harry with shoes on, the ultimate kiwi goat 😅😜 it sure is not an easy trek to get into the valley. There has got to be other marine animals surely, we just have to find them!
Where in New Zealand. North or South Island?
Hi this is in the North Island 😊
"Uncover this fossil with me!" How? I AM BEHIND THE SCREEN
😮
Would love to see these cut open! I bet they have some pretty things on the inside! Your girls are so adorable. If I found anything close to what she found where I live I would probably pass out!😂I would have to travel at least 4 hours or so from where I live (in America), in the state I live in, to even get close to finding anything agate. So I watch these videos just in awe at what you all find!
Wow
Neat. Did this as a child many years ago with my granddad
Way to go team. Another cool nz channel
Thanks for following along!
@@forfossilssake no worries. A very proud dad recommended you
What fun you had together! I loved watching you both find treasures. I'm in Whitianga at the moment, do you know any good spots for me to hunt for gemstones please? Also, you have a really nice voice to listen to!
Thank you so much !! Whitianga is on our list to explore some day soon. There are spots a bit of a drive south or north 😊 coopers beach is a drive too
Wow so cool 😁😎
Thank you 😊

Love those spiny crabs!!
Yes they're very cool!!
Brother, love this. I left Taranaki in the 90's and I left NZ in 2007. Miss it greatly....
Ahh yeah its a beautiful spot for sure! Thanks for following along! Have more epic NZ videos coming soon!
Nice i was there recently found a nice amethyst peice
That's awesome. Its been some time for us. Very keen to get back!!

Nice mahi, great looking crab
Cheers! Love working on this species
