Prior to second selection was the AI goalkeeper test that gave them 90 minutes to score 100 goals. If failing this failed them out of second selection, then you can do the math with 7 teams clearing second selection that only 47-52 players cleared the AI goalkeeper. It works cleanest with 48 players - but I think this is more likely than the world five determining who does and doesn't move on with 1 brief game.

I have a theory that Ego wanted Kunigami to be what Isagi is currently, like to let go of his ego and become a tool to victory, like Isagis doing putting aside his ego to win. That would explain why Ego told him to let go. And Ego wasn't stupid, he made a backup and made Noa be an awakening tool for Isagi just incase. But that's just a theory :P

Through in-depth research, I’ve realized it’s nearly impossible to pinpoint the exact positions of all 125 players. For some, we can only rely on our imagination or speculation. The “boots theory” is good, but as you mentioned, there are many differences between the manga and the anime, and even between the first and second seasons of the anime hehe. I also consider the manga to be more “canon” on this topic. To start reconstructing the Stratum, we need to accept all its retcons (Hiori being a special case). I follow your videos with great interest, and I had even written some suggestions in your first video (I think some of them were taken into consideration). So, if you’re reading this AKIRA, I’d like to offer another idea that you may not have considered, which could help you partially reconstruct the Stratum: In Nagi’s spinoff, specifically in Chapter 12, there’s a very interesting panel showing Nagi and Reo exiting the door of their block (let’s call it Stratum 5 for convenience). If you pay attention to the details, Nagi is standing in front of 3 doors from which several players are emerging. Door 1: In the front row, there’s a familiar figure: it’s “Zuyu” the player with Yuzu-like (but reversed) hair, whom you assigned as No. 14. Beside him is the same black-haired player (No. 15) seen in the original manga panels. Behind “Zuyu” there’s also a blonde player with bangs falling to the left (No. 16). Door 2: Identifying specifics here is more challenging, but three things stand out: (a) on the far left, there’s someone with a ponytail; (b) there’s a player with long hair resembling Aryu; and (c) on the far right in the front row, one character resembles No. 237 W, though it could also be the player you assigned as No. 6. Door 3: The only visible character here has short hair and is relatively tall, leading me to think it could be Ishikari (based on hairstyle) or Sokura (because his hair isn’t dyed black but left white). Referring to the image in Chapter 39 (Volume 5) of the original manga, which shows the pentagonal room from above, we can see a black arrow marking the entrance to the Second Selection, and two doors are located nearby. In the Chapter 12 panel of Nagi’s spinoff, the arrow isn’t visible on the floor, suggesting that Stratum 5 on Isagi/Nagi’s side could be near the arrow. Referring to the first-ever map of Blue Lock, Stratum 5 should be located at the bottom-right, with Stratum 1 beside it, on the left. Thus, my idea is that Stratum 5 exits to the right of the black arrow, while Stratum 1 (Rin’s layer) exits to the left. When we first see Rin approach the ball baskets (Chapter 40, Volume 5), he seems to be exiting a door near the arrow, followed by three other players from his Team V. In conclusion, I think the door “Zuyu” exits could be Stratum 2 (or Stratum 1, depending on the perspective), the door with “Aryu” could be Stratum 3 (or Stratum 2), and the door with Ishikari/Sokura could be Stratum 4 (or Stratum 3). So: Stratum 1/2 - Team V and Team Y Stratum 2/3 - Team V and Team W Stratum 3/4 - Team V and Team X Here are a few additional scattered thoughts: - In Hiori’s team, there’s a guy with long blonde hair and a samurai ponytail (whom you assigned No. 74). I noticed that in the Hall, there’s a player with the same look (whom you assigned No. 32). - In Hiori’s flashback, the curly-haired player who gets hit by the ball likely gets eliminated. With only 00:16 seconds remaining, I doubt he could have saved himself. The artist often reuses character designs (e.g., the three black-haired guys with ponytails), so I think the curly-haired player represents a different person than the one you assigned No. 5. - No. 3 appears to be the same as No. 25 (note the eyebrows!). Also, No. 24, with the mohawk, resembles someone from the team with white jerseys that Otoya and Karasu face in the flashback (the Team X with the incorrect “Y”), though his hair colors might be reversed. - No. 18 and No. 19 seem like twins, similar to the Wanima brothers! - No. 23 looks like the same character with shoulder strap 255 Y (No. 38), as does No. 51. - No. 52 (the guy with glasses and a mole) likely formed a team of three with No. 41 and No. 42. This makes me think they were all from Team W. In the group of four who declined to face the Top 3, they’re together. When Isagi arrives, the glasses-wearing guy is sitting there, seemingly waiting for someone (perhaps those two?). - No. 39 could also be No. 20. - No. 54 resembles No. 3, BUT the eyebrows are bushier, so I agree it’s a different character. His look is intriguing; I imagine he’s a survivor from his team, as he managed to reach 6th place in the 100-goal rankings. Based on Nagi’s spinoff, he seems to be from Team X (in the original manga, his boots were black, but Sokura also appears with white instead of red boots). - You forgot to include another player among the 125. He’s bald and often seen in the Hall when Rin throws the two balls in the air! He also appears in the panel with the “chatter, chatter, chatter” text (second-to-last on the right). - Regarding Tanaka, I don’t think he’s in the same block as Aryu. When Tanaka stands near the curly-haired guy (No. 5) and the blonde guy with spiked hair (No. 3), it’s during the moment when everyone gathers in the center of the room to watch Ego on the monitors. So I wouldn’t use that panel to reconstruct the five Stratum. - I believe the panel with “Aryu - Curly-haired Guy - Blonde-haired Guy” represents one block, while the panel with “Ponytail Guy, Igaguri-lookalike, and Tanaka” represents another. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been a split between the top and bottom panels. For now, that’s all! I hope these suggestions help you get closer to reconstructing the five Stratum! Best regards!
