Throne and Liberty | My Relaxing Exploration & World Immersion | Atmospheric Ambience 4K
Although I'll never play this game again since I'm not the target audience, I really enjoyed the graphics and world design... This was my first impressions play test after installing the Beta as I randomly explore my surroundings and soak in the ambience. No voiceover or commentary.

how to zoom in and out?
we miss you mr cool
@@ataridc I miss you too man. I'll be back, I promise... Just been navigating the ebbs and flows of life but I've been itching to come back ASAP.
@@ClassNCool Good to hear! Take care of yourself I'll def check back in when you're ready. Hope you and your family enjoy whatever holidays you celebrate this time of year.
and here i go and name my toons newplayerone-five. Couldn't think of any name that wasnt taken.
Funny you say that - my normal cadence is to use my classic MMO names from my childhood. If I need to create an alt, I typically google "famous" names of fantasy characters from literature. But what's really cool is now I'm toying around with ChatGPT to help me design my own fantasy-esque names with prompts nudging the AI to match the lore/story arc I'm going for.
@ClassNCool honestly never thought of that. I usually use my RUclips name for most of my toons or variations of that plus what class or archetype I'm running with but didn't for some reason. I am surprised though on how I'm enjoying eq cause I normally don't like grindy games. But this one has got me hooked.
So how are they making their money back? Subscription model or transactions
So they're all volunteers and doing it on their own dime. The motivation is making a game they all want to "live" in. As for monetization, if the game succeeds, then they'll adjust as needed. Most of the community, including myself, would like to see the classic subscription model. They're firmly against microtransactions.
Extraordinary that this has been made to such a high quality without taking money from paying customers in advance. I wish this team every success. If I were to play any new EQ, this would be it.
100% couldn't agree more - the team is super dope and humble at the same time
Lineage III
Whats the name of 15:00 love to chill there!
Nice. I enjoy Loving Robots EQ nostalgia work.
They have done a great job on this game sofar
Unless you're roleplaying as a druid who refuses to kill wild life, you can kill with impunity. In my sense of roleplay, druids help maintain the balance, so they put down sickly animals so they do not suffer.
Thanks for showing off the game! Certainly was pretty to look at.
The music is so amazing!!
Doesn't work for me, client still janky as ever.
@@kirksneckchop7873 I prefer the P99 client too. I think it's because the client being used in Quarm goes all the way to PoP but I'm not sure. Also, the AV blocks Zeal so you have to add to the exception list. Lastly, if you have certain new AMD CPUs (like me), you have to underclock it into the Bios. Huge pain I had to go through to get it working smoothly.
@@ClassNCool Thanks for the info. I discovered that the Zeal mod hooks into the client through the audio, so it won't work unless you have that enabled. Enabling audio in the EQclient.ini file loaded the mod. I still find strange camera sensitivity and do end up preferring p99, but it does seem to make Quarm playable now. Thanks for the video and feedback!
I dismissed this server because of it's terrible camera control. I will try it again with this modification.
@@xplodr007 Same... coming from years of Project 1999 Green I just could not stomach it. It's definitely better now and since this video was released, Zeal has improved even more. What I really want is a refresh of the Green server... a fresh start while keeping the old Green server available. Sprinkle in Luclin as the final expansion and it would be a masterpiece.
I would love some more of these EQ chill plays with ambient music. I put this one on as I painted up some Warhammer models and it all just fell into place, zen af
Dang thank you, I really appreciate the compliment. I've been MIA for some life stuff but plan on resuming my journey soon... similar to your experience, I like to turn on some relaxing fantasy ambience and just let Norrath take the wheel. I'll be back soon enough...
lol I remember the game was 80 percent wood elf druids when EQ first came out!
🍺
Cheers!
The gameworld visuals are a mix of EQ1 and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.
That's a very cool/interesting way of looking at it! I've never played Vanguard but I 100% plan on trying the emu. What really excites me about M&M's art style is how they plan on executing it with a combination of great lighting, visual effects, and atmosphere. Every time I play test M&M I get sucked into the world and I simply can't get enough... so good. Getting excited just thinking about it lol
Hey there . thanks for the vids . quick question. is there an option to hide the back pack graphic ? would be a shame if you cant. would love a helm and cape hide as well. thanks
@@Briggz30 Good question let me ask and find out
@@ClassNCool sounds good. thanks
@@Briggz30 So I'll give you the response I got and also my opinion after putting some thought into this. The official answer I got from one of the team members was that he wasn't aware if those options were specifically discussed. If you have ideas or feedback I suggest joining their Discord or joining one of aLovingRobot's live streams on Twitch. He's the lead developer and loves to discuss ideas and feedback and will probably give you your answer Live on stream. My PERSONAL OPINION is that although I understand some may prefer to disable certain wearables such as helms, cloaks, backpacks, etc there is a counter argument as to why this might not fit the Monsters & Memories design philosophy that also makes sense. Personally, in classic EverQuest, I would disable the helmet when it was unsightly and turn it back on when I upgraded my gear. My understanding is that M&M is going back to the classic RPG roots that so many MMOs have lost. It's trying to be a true MMORPG. This means that every piece of gear has both 3D visual representation and the backend numerical system similar to D&D (e.g. +1, +2 calculations etc). As you progress through your journey, you have the numerical representation of your progress via gear stats/bonuses and you also have the gradual 3D visual representation based on what you wear or don't wear. To paint a picture: I could have spent most of my time in Night Harbor as a Wood Elf and you can see that I have Night Harbor traditional plate armor, mixed with a desert turban, but on my feet I have some Elvish crafted plate boots. My cloak is embroidered with designs from an Ogre camp that I layed waste to, and my backpack was purchased at none other than the docks of Night Harbor where business is always bustling. I painted that picture because my gear and what I choose to wear (or not wear) tells a story about my journey, where I spend most of my time, and maybe even my craftiness. For example, an idea to solve your concern (instead of making a UI button to say "off") is potentially finding/equipping a more minimalistic cloak. Other cloaks may be torn and short, others may be royal and long, others might be transparent or invisible. Backpacks could be small, large, obnoxious, or (with the helpful tinkering of the Gnomes) even invisible with some enchantments. I think that creating on/off systems is not always the right solution and instead creating a world filled with treasures to seek out and other crafty solutions to solve said problems. This way your character remains connected to the world, your decisions, and the consequences of those decisions. It causes the player to traverse the world specifically for that one specific helm, or that one specific look, or that one specific stat. It gives you reasons to return to certain regions or interact with NPCs your normally would avoid. Lastly, although what your suggesting is super straight forward and I see no issue with it, it's potentially a slippery slope. First people want to toggle their helmets, then it becomes a conversation about backpacks, then it leads to dyes and customizing armor that is supposed to be unique, and from there you can potentially fall into the trap of cosmetic stores/items. I think you make a great point and the solution to your concern may be addressed by items in the game instead of a toggle switch BUT that's all just speculation and I don't know. I could also be completely wrong and maybe there will be a toggle in game. As I mentioned earlier, the devs LOVE to talk to the community. They take the community feedback and if it makes sense, they'll consider it. If it doesn't make sense for their vision, they'll be blunt and honest as to why. Either way, I've never watched a game being developed by a team that is so interconnected with their community. Definitely encourage you to join in on the fun (assuming you haven't already). Sorry for the long and silly response... I'll probably end of re-reading this and editing out the fluff. All opinions are my own and I'm not affiliated with Monsters & Memories BTW lol 😏

Although I'll never play this game again since it's just not for me, the graphics and world design was fun to indulge in

Beautiful. How long is a full cycle?
@@jmichaelolds Good question. I'll review the raw footage and let you know.
@@ClassNCool 72 minutes for a full day (3min per hour). We stretch out sunrise/sunset very slightly, so the night is a tad bit shorter than day.

What a day night cycle wow, reminds me of sea of thieves which is one of my favs. The music too, oof right in the feels with this one!
Man, I feel you... imagine how I felt. I was at work and couldn't play during the early hours of the play test so I decided to log in, turn on OBS, and just vibe out to this beautiful skyline. Everything about this game feels so right and it feels like an actual WORLD that's living and breathing. It's kind of mind boggling that we're so early in the development stage (2-3 years in) and they've breathed so much life into it. Also, if you love the music, go check out the composer (Robert Engstrand) at ruclips.net/p/PLp5w9yUTNCBdVQomCTcj_LCLNmfuRXyyQ but you probably already know that. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you leaving a comment ♥
Cant wait
Same here 😢🎉
It almost seems this team has access to my calendar as each play/stress test has happened when I am away working... Looks chill. I could see myself playing this as I am so over action-combat MMOs. Sometimes I want to kick back and relax without spamming buttons. EDIT - The sky at night is gorgeous.
Brother you blew this game wide open. Really excited to see someone blowing with the best of them. Big ups.
Looks worse then eq luclin models. i'll check on it again when they improve the look.
Bro youre strawberry cream cheese 🧀 😭
Sorry for the delayed response - just got back from a long road trip. I appreciate you watching/commenting as it really helps the RUclips algorithm. This helps my channel grow and spreads awareness about Monsters and Memories. The lead developer of Monsters and Memories is Shawn (aLovingRobot) and live streams the development of the game (along with the rest of his team). They always take constructive feedback and would be happy to chat with you and answer any of your questions. He's made it clear that this game is not for everyone and jokingly said it might be rated "NE" for "Not for Everyone". The graphics are intentionally a "Low Poly" art style, very similar to the art inspired from classic EverQuest. This game is also in early proof of concept development by a small indie team of around 18 part-time devs. All the textures, models, graphics, animations, and effects are still a work in progress. They are building this out of their own pockets and are not (currently) taking any money from fans/supporters. Sorry for being Captain Obvious here since I've mentioned this already in most of my videos, comments, and descriptions as a disclaimer about this early development project. That said, if you're looking for a different graphical art style then "checking on it again when they improve the look" may simply be a waste of your time. Sure, there will be more character customization options, new armor, new textures, etc but "the look" is here to stay. This game captures the classic MMORPG MUD based gameplay and atmosphere we know and love from the original EverQuest. It's taking the simple "Low Poly" art style and combining it with 4K textures and modern GFX engine features (such as weather, atmospheric effects, lighting, etc). To help you learn more about the project, feel free to checkout the links below and join one of their live streams: Homepage: monstersandmemories.com/ RUclips: ruclips.net/channel/UCKp7Os1smchzDc0R16evBdA Twitch: twitch.tv/aLovingRobot Discord: discord.com/invite/jvdKKc3CqW Here are some of the past EverQuest projects Shawn (aLovingRobot) was involved in: • EverQuest Live -- Customer Service • EverQuest: Scars of Velious -- Design Apprentice • EverQuest: Shadows of Luclin -- Game Designer • EverQuest: Planes of Power -- Lead Game Designer • EverQuest: LDoN -- Lead Game Designer • EverQuest: Legacy of Ykesha -- Lead Game Designer • EverQuest: Omens of War -- Lead Game Designer

Out of the games you talked about I am most excited for Evercraft Online. I played the last play test and it felt like the spiritual successor to EverQuest. EDIT - Just read this is being released as early access in December.
@@jazznblues9496 Absolutely loved EverCraft and can't wait until the next play test! Personally for me, Monsters & Memories felt most like EverQuest's spiritual successor but that's subjective and just my opinion. Pantheon for me is going to be the Vanguard: Saga of Heros spiritual successor I never got to play that pulls some inspiration from EverQuest. EverCraft is going to be my in between 2nd or 3rd place pick after Monster's and Memories. All three are great games in their own ways and each has something slightly different to bring to the table. I also agree that EverCraft is definitely more EverQuestesque than Pantheon for example. It's nuts that after two decades we now have 3 options right in front of us plus EQ Quarm and P99 Green. I hope they create a new P99 Green classic server one day from Classic and stop at Luclin. Personally, I stopped playing once PoP was released. And regarding December: yes, I read that too the other day and was a bit shocked to hear that Pantheon plans on Early Access in December.
Thank you so much, this is really making me excited for this game, great to watch this stream while I'm working. love the music, and the commentary.

im going to have to get my sons to check this one out with me when it releases
@@gilbeggergilbegger5819 same here! My son will be 13 by the time early access starts in 2026. I was 13 when I first played EverQuest in 1999. Hope you enjoyed the footage and thank you for commenting ☺️
i turn 40 this month, so I'll be a wrinkled old man when it releases, eating my sardines on crackers and wiping the fish oils off on my pleated khakis
@@ataridc Age only equates to one thing: grown up money = I get to buy all the toys. You've got another 40+ solid years of M&M (at least) and maybe even 60+. At least ONE of your toons will hit level 50 by then, I promise👴 My wife was 29 when she captured the 23 version of me. Although I've tried to catch up, she's 42 now and no matter how hard I try, I can't catch up to her number and I can't match her youth... the darling is getting younger by the day.
Is it worth the time learning about attributes and character creation, or should i just make a screw around character because its way too early?
When you say attributes do you mean 1) spells 2) starting stats 3) starting primary/secondary abilities Just in case, I'll answer all 3 with everything is subject to change. I recommend picking what you think would be cool/fun. For example, regarding spells, I noticed the druid spells level 1-50 were already available for purchase. Do they all work? Probably not. Can you get enough money to even buy a level 20+ spell (let alone make it to level 20) guaranteed no. What's currently available as far as spells is concerned has been working great. As for starting stats during character creation, I basically just put the remaining few points into whatever makes sense in an EQ style MMO or DnD. For example, for my druid I put whatever I could in WIS and then STA for HP and STR for carrying weight... this is a work in progress of course. Primary/Secondary abilities are like infravision, fishing, merchant, leathercrafting, survivalism, etc. What I did is read through what makes sense for my playstyle/roleplay and chose that. For my druid I chose swordsmen because you get a scimitar starter and your 1hs skill is increased. I chose Wisdom because it boosts WIS + adds an ability. I chose Infravision because I want to see at night better. Lastly, I chose Merchant because it boosts my selling skill so I can get more back for my coin trading to Merchants. Is anything final? 100% no. So to summarize, you should take a few moments to read through the description of whatever you're about to do and just go nuts, have fun, and don't expect anything to be written in stone. Hope this helped and if I missed or misunderstood something, please clarify and I'll add to what I said.
I feel like I've finally found someone else who plays games like me! Thanks for sharing!
