The hard part is out of the way. Getting yourself out there. Just sharpen the blade now. Your editing skills are far better than most. I started my channel for the same reason. To simply document the process. I played a TLP for 2 years straight about 5 years ago and I really, really wish I was documenting then. Missing out on that got me to start documenting about a year ago. One thing I will add is that this is a great vehicle for getting to know the community. I didn't expect this. I've met a ton of cool and great people through RUclips and outside of the game. Keep it up!
You're awesome and I appreciate the feedback! Funny because I've seen you around since you also have that original EQ icon - what's cool is whenever I see someone rocking that logo, I already know it's someone I can vibe with. I actually just recently discovered your channel (don't know how I missed it) and it's become one of my favorite *Let's Play* RUclips channels. Definitely look forward to seeing you in Norrath, brother! Regarding documenting the experience, I've had SO many moments when I've said to myself "man, I really wish I recorded that". Originally I was going to use my *Draekos* handle but wanted to brand myself separate from my in-game name (hence Class&Cool). Although we've been waiting a long time, it seems like we may finally have some new classically inspired MMOs on the horizon (specifically Monsters & Memories). I dabbled with Embers Adrift and have been following Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen since it's announcement from Brad McQuaid over a decade ago. The current state of that project has taught me not to hold my breath so I'm very grateful for projects like Project Quarm and Project 1999 Green server. I said all that to ask: are you interested in any other classically inspired MMOs/projects? PS: My Discord Name = Draekos My Discord Channel (under construction) = discord.gg/qnyDJn2X
@@ClassNCool Firstly, thank you. Secondly, Yes. I pledged to Pantheon somewhere around 6-7 years ago. A lot has changed since then and we probably both feel the same about it. M&M kind of came out of nowhere and has been moving blazingly fast. I really do like A Loving Robot's RUclips channel as well. Ashes of Creation looks interesting although not classically inspired I guess. I too dabbled in Embers Adrift. I say all of that to say that M&M is my main target as well. I think it hits the nail on the head for what myself and many others are looking for. I'm not a graphics guy. Of course they are great but they mean nothing if the game is bad. I'm really looking forward to the progression of the game.
@@ClassicEverQuest Oh yes, Ashes of Creation looks very promising & I'll definitely be playing that too. Similar to how Guild Wars was a genuinely good experience (both 1 and 2). BTW, thank you for suggesting *A Loving Robot* - just subscribed to his YT channel. I had no idea that was Shawn's main YT channel (the Dev from Monsters & Memories). www.youtube.com/@alovingrobot406
@@ClassNCool Yeah, he's a really cool dude. Not only shows stuff about M&M but he has some really cool interviews with his old co workers. One of my favorites is the guy who designed some zones such as Unrest. I forget his name. Great insight.
Aye, some great stuff on Shawns channel for sure 🙂 Can also recommend his Twitch channel, as he streams MnM development regularly. EverCraft Online is another game that's actually very well made, and also still in development. Although I do prefer the graphics just a bit more realistic at least, like MnM, which is definitely the most anticipated for me as well ☺
I like watching old school MMOs stream because it really brings me back to a simple time in my life. It's not just my personal expereinces, I personally played Asheron's Call more than EQ, actually, it's just combination of the simple graphics, relaxed gameplay, locked on camera, ambient music, etc. I could really zone out and get lost in these games for hours and I like sharing that experience with others doing the same. The only thing that bums me out is it's really tough to recapture that feeling. We can thankfully revisit our old games either officially or through emulated servers, but as of today the MMO genre has become a very neglected genre and there are less and less new experiences to be had.
Oh that's so true and I remember playing Asheron's Call too - it was and is a great game. As for capturing that old nostalgia, I agree that no modern MMO has even come close to capturing that classic feel... until now. I promise you this is genuine and no lie: I felt that feeling when I first entered the character creation screen on Monsters & Memories and proceeded to enter the world with a sense of awe and intrigue. 4 hours later I was only level 2 because I was so busy just absorbing my surroundings and enjoying the community.
audio is goood. the game is The GOAT. When you enter crushbone and run straight there are three orks before a bridge. If you cross the bridge and jump across the water you can see an orc down by the water in the slavers area. If you pull him, he will run thru the zone collecting a lot of followers and hunt you down. I did that and camped at the zone line waiting for the train. It was great. I was in my 50s when the game came out. REALLY played a lot and still do.
That's the kind of subtle stuff I love about EQ and nothing compares to the classic "TRAIN!" in /shout BTW thank you for the feedback on audio and I'm currently honing in some details behind the scenes. Look forward to releasing more soon!
Thank you, Shawn - you're awesome and I appreciate the feedback. Feel free to swing by and leave suggestions during future adventures or join the party!
Was overall pleasant experience, imo only note is the inner monologue smacks of a super fresh youtuber. But I'm sure you'll develop your own style. Might even try live streaming to work that out. very good editing skills though, I'm sure you'll be the best critic for exactly how you want to fine tune the audio but honestly i could only complement the audio. as for me, I'm currently at a very similar level as you in this video on PQuarm, i picked a Barb-Sham and I'm getting ready to enjoy the qeynos experience. I'm excited, this is a class / race I've never played before. and PQuarm seems to be a pretty solid version of classic to enjoy right now. when my RAM gets delivered, hopefully next week, I'm going to get that texture packet you're using. obvious reasons lolol. gl
This is powerful feedback and exactly what I needed to hear. As someone else said, I need to sharpen the sword but practicing on live streams would be ideal instead of butchering videos I spend hours on. This particular video was mainly for feedback but I'll keep this in mind the next time I do a proper recording. Thanks again for the honest feedback! Barb-Sham combo is awesome and one I've always wanted to try. I need to break the cycle of woody druids lol... and yes, the HD pack is a must for me in 2024. Hope to see you in Norrath soon!
Two words, one preposition: MONSTERS & MEMORIES... I honestly can tell you it's the ONLY mmo (even in its super early development stage) that somehow managed to capture that EQ adventure feeling. Hyped!
@@ClassNCool I am pumped for Monsters and Memories. I heard about it a couple days after their December play test. I've been watching their steams and RUclips videos to get my fix. M&M seems to be more like how I thought Pantheon would be when I heard about it in 2014.

Very nice polishes on the video. From the thumbnail/map to the cam pip border, etc., it's very high quality content.

Kudos on the good content. Following MnM closely here as well. Was such great fun the play-test in December ☺
