Cool. What do you feed them?

I will have a look. I have fed small amounts of broccoli for years, and haven't noticed any ill effects.

I feed Endlers the same way. The zucchini will soften after a while making it even easier for the babies to eat.

We were told to be home by dark, and don't bother mum while Days Of Our Lives was on.

I have a couple of small dirted natural tanks with some shrimp, snails and a few nano fish. The tank that this sump is for is for keeping and displaying fish that would produce far too large a bio load, not to mention absolutely destroy any attempt to grow plants. Thank you for choosing to use your time watching this filtration video mate. 😁

Yeah, the zucchini can make a bit of a mess. Try broccoli, it doesn't seem to break up as small and float around.

A heater would drain the battery quickly. You could always add more batteries to increase storage. I bought the UPS inverter directly from Renogy Australia, and you can get a deep cycle battery and a smart charger from lots of places cheaper than Jaycar. Look at 4wd and camping stores.

Do you know if you have males and females? Only thing I could suggest is put them in their own tank with plenty of room and spawning rocks and see what happens.

Thanks mate. For my smaller tanks I went to the op shop and scored a bunch of cutlery forks for 10c each. Bent the end of the handles over so they hang on the edge of the tank.

@@Gilsfishroom that’s a great idea bending the handles over! I have 13 20ltr shrimp tanks that you have now saved me from having to pick the forks up from the bottom of the tank! Some how the shrimp always seem to knock over the fork 😂

The video didn't really show the true colour unfortunately, it was definitely under 40ppm. I would love a Hanna reader, but it is a little on the expensive side for me.

@@Gilsfishroom fair enough, the in person view is always going to be more accurate. are you using the API test kit? another great option is the LaMotte test kit. It’s about 80 bucks online. Also lab worthy / professional grade that I’ve used before. I got the test kit cause Novak was belittling me when I wasn’t getting the results HE wanted with my baskets. Said I needed a lab grade test kit. Funny he’s not mentioning that you. I did an 11 month experiment with the Novak kitty litter baskets. I measured no increase in my weekly nitrate accumulation. I used the exact same fluorite you did and the natural kitty litter (back when it was still available). I even measured the amount of food I was feeding each week to document and show I was not increasing or decreasing the amount of nitrogen in to the system. Glad you had more luck than me. All the other aquarists I worked with and talked to didn’t have measurable denitrification either. Glad it worked for you. 👍
