Trout & Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial - The Pink Tag
A must have fly for trout and grayling anglers around the world when it comes to nymphing.
This particular tying includes a nice, slim resin body that helps those smaller sizes get down in the water to where the fish are sitting. It is one of the few patterns I would not be without in my box and usually finds its place on my rig as a point fly.
Drop a comment or a message if you have questions about the fly or if you would like to know more about any of the materials used in the video!
As always, thank you for watching.

Fly Tying Tutorial - CDC Mayfly Detached Body - Part 2
Просмотров 36521 день назад
When it comes to mayfly time it's all about a big, bold fly that gets noticed. Detached body flies are great patterns to fish, but can be a little tricky to tie! Tying the body on to a needle first and then on to a hook isn't the most simple or convenient of methods for beginner to intermediate Tyers. This is where I love this CDC version. No need for anything extra other than the kit you alrea...

Fly Tying Tutorial - The Best Pink Shrimp
Просмотров 1 тыс.Месяц назад
It was an awesome weekend at the first leg of the Semperfli Roadshow in Derbyshire with lots of great conversations and new ideas for the fly tying bench. If you went, please let me know in the comments what you thought of it! I have shared a couple pink shrimps on the channel, but with a few new materials in my hands I really wanted to share this version. It looks fantastic and is still a simp...
Micro CDC Emerger- Trout and Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial
Просмотров 8334 месяца назад
A micro dry fly that does it all. Tied on curved hooks from 22 right down to as small as I can get them. I'll tie these in black to represent small midges and in an olive colour to represent both midges and blue winged olives too. When every other pattern I've tried hasn't got the fish to take, this is usually the one that solves the puzzle. A real glassy water weapon. Materials List: Hook: Ful...
Trout and Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial - Easy Pink Shrimp

It doesn't get any quicker and easier than this when it comes to a euro nymph pattern. If a flashy point fly in coloured water is the port of call, this is the fly I turn to. The least amount of time goes in to the flies I lose the most own river beds. These are heavy point flies that still catch their fair share of trout and grayling. Materials List: Hook: Fulling Mill Heavy Czech Hook sz12 Be...
Trout and Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial - Sili Leg Grub
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Год назад
I'm a real big fan of finding multiple uses for materials I have for tying and this fly is a perfect example. Sili-legs is an awesome material for adding movement to lure and streamer patterns, but here, I use it to make an epic grub for grayling and trout. Super versatile due to the amount of colours you can find this material in and super durable. I'm sure this is going to be a favourite box ...
Flexi Olive Nymph Fly Tying Tutorial

This fly combines some of the best features of modern nymph design. A smooth body aids quick descent through the water whilst the flexi floss maintains subtle segmentation throughout the fly. This is such an easy fly to tie and one that can be tied in an infinite amount of colour combinations too! A Better Foam Beetle?! CDC Beetle Fly Tying Tutorial
Просмотров 454Год назад
When those brown trout are sipping beetles away underneath the trees on rivers, or sipping terrestrial beetles from the surface of lakes, an exact imitation is crucial! Usually, this is where a foam beetle comes in to play. But foam beetles land a little heavy, float poorly and are definitely not fun flies to fish in smaller sizes. This is when you should try the CDC beetle. With all the same g...
Trout & Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial - March Brown/Mayfly Emerger
Просмотров 469Год назад
This is quite possibly my favourite emerger to fish when the conditions are right. This fly is for when all hell breaks loose! During march brown hatches early in the season and in larger sizes for mayfly hatches at the seasons' peak, it's equally effective. The size, profile and suggestive vulnerability of this pattern crowns it the king of imitating those emerging inverterbrates. Materials Li...

Trout & Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial - Mayfly Nymph (Tungsten Beaded)
Просмотров 383Год назад
When the season is at it's peak and the mayfly hatches are going from noon until night, this is the fly I use until noon! I've experimented with this pattern throughout the peak of last season's hatches with some amazing success. It's easy to forget when trout are smashing mayfly duns from the surface that they're also gorging on them below the water too, as they tumble down the current in thei...
Trout & Grayling Fly Tying Tutorial - UV Rainbow Shrimp
Просмотров 595Год назад
Since the rise of Euro-nymphing styles in the global nymphing scene, the need for fly anglers to have weighted shrimp imitations sky rocketed. In rivers and lakes where they are present, shrimps provide trout and grayling with a year round, plentiful food source. However, these flies work just as well in rivers that don't hold substaintial shrimp populations too! There are some really technical...

Nice fly,thank you!👍
Thank you, your comment is super appreciated and I hope this fly catches you some good fish out there!
Very nice with the yellow wing post, great idea 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, it’s a method I’ve started using more and more when using poly yarn in flies!
Very nice video well explained.Thank you
Thank you Brian, I hope you have a few fish on this one!
Use a less good mic. Listening to your slobbering and swallowing ruined it for me.
RUclips allows audio to be muted and captions used instead if you prefer!
Very nice extended body’s well done 👍🏻
Thank you!
Thank you very much
And thank you too for watching!
Great tip on trimming the thread. Sweet fly.
Thank you, glad you picked up a little tip for your own tying!
Good to see you back Adam. I’ll be tying a few of those.👍
Thank you Phil, hopefully I will get to some sort of routine again with it on the run up to Christmas!
Fantastic work, Adam! Great fly!
That fly
It’s a killer!
Nice one thanks
Shrimp wool material looks great . I'm going to try that unweighted for mullet 👍
I’ll have a few of those tied up too if I ever manage to get out after mullet!
Thanks Adam, I watched you tying this beatle at Mallon & Green on the 9th March also thanks for sharing the video, hopefully I will have some success using it in the new season.
Thanks Keith, it was great to see you that day. I’m sure it will bring you some nice fish this year!
Great tip with the teflon tape to help cover the lead and smooth out the body. Really nice fly. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed that tip. It’s got many uses in fly tying, I’ll be sharing more of them soon!
Nice one and appreciate the running commentary as you work explaining what you are doing and why
Thank you, I try to make it as easy to follow as possible and explain why I do certain things too!
@@aphfishing you do a great job
Very nice tie fly and commentary.
Thank you!
Great fly this i also tie it but using a bright green tag fantastic fly
I use them in a few different colours, pink, orange and red mainly though!
Bright green is an absolute killer fly
Very nice
Thank you
Cracking video Adam well done mate lovely tactics 👍
Thank you! It’s a great fly I’ve used a fair bit over winter
Do you ever add lead wire for more weight to sink the fly faster? How does one hide the wire so as not to make the fly get too front end bulky and ruin the profile?
Not usually in this pattern John. But if I did, I’d recommend a very thin, flat lead. This would keep a pretty decent tapered profile with some extra weight to it, without adding too much bulk to the body
I use a bit of thin, round lead in mine up by the head. 3 or 4 turns, make sure the tags are tucked and you just adjust your taper accordingly. Full disclosure though…I only do this because I want to add a bit of bulk without affecting the sink rate. I like a bulkier, buggier, more 3D perdigon and in order to fish the fly deep as intended, it needs a bit more weight. That’s what the lead is there for…
Great video I fish there myself from time to time had some decent pike n perch out
It’s not the same quality it used to be, very pressured up there now. But keep exploring the miles of canals around it!
Yes found some not far from there and it's teaming with them had 18 pike and perch out in one 4 hour session.
Very nice
Thank you!
Great video like always bud. Looks a hot pattern
Cheers mate, appreciate you taking the time to watch it 👍🏼👌🏻
Great tutorial Adam! Thanks for sharing
Thank you the the kind feedback!
Very nice beetle!
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing!! Great looking fly Adam
Thank you! It’s certainly proved to be a useful pattern to me that had all but replaced the foam beetle in my boxes.. A sighter could easily be added to aid visibility too, but I prefer it without
Thats how a hairs ear jig fly suppose to look like, not overly dubbed, thin body, right proportions.👌
Thank you for the kind words!
You make it look simple. Ive always said I want to make some flys, but I’m sure they are harder to make than it looks.
Thank you! Have a go, the fun is in the learning journey. At the beginning, just take your time on each step and you’ll be fine!
This Fly!
This fly 🎉. This will Perfect for mullet bud
Please let me know if it catches you some mullet! I’d like to catch one this season, so I’ll be sure to stock them in the box!
@@aphfishing I can’t tie to save my life but I have had some success last year on other shrimp patterns for mullet
