As someone who is a fanatic of 2d animation and hand drawn animation I can’t wait to install this! Thank you for the precious insights I feel lasso tool might be essencial but I’m such a beginner at digital I don’t see it as a negative point for me because I never used it

Great video, mate! Procreate dreams of exterior is phenomenal. The UI is very sleek looking and works smoothly! That being said, there are some negatives. 😂 No lasso, no smartshape, cannot merge layers, fill tool is a little wonky. (Now these are ALL already existing features in procreate, just not in Dreams). Also, you are not able to distort/warp if there are multiple layers. (Workaround is to duplicate the lineart layer and make it its own track and color that). Lastly, no vector brushes. Right now, the app is not efficient for anyone who animates regularly. It is great for beginners though! A great alternative is Adobe Fresco AND Toonsquid for animation.

Considering ToonSquid is made by one guy by himself with pretty much nothing and Procreate is a huge team with a huge budget and it didn’t even come out with a LASSO TOOL??????? it seems extremely unfair but ToonSquid still takes the win. Plus, Procreate dreams is pixel based compared to ToonSquid being vector based, soooo

I just started using procreate dreams. Question - where is the lasso tool when we draw on multiple layers under a single frame? Also for a particular layer within a frame i can wrap/distort/move/scale. Please help

Thank you ! I just forgot about it after seeing how unfinished it felt when it released. Just thinking I could go back to it later and it would be better. It seems better now, but still far from how good procreate was. Like you have to group frames to move them all (wich is hell if you just want to move all your frames one frame to the right or left). I tried it today and it was bothering, at best. I'm also a bit annoyed there's a stabilization feature that works for all brushes only. It would have been better if there was an independant setting on each brush or just a visual thing like size and opacity to select it directly. Though I understand it takes some work to make something as good as procreate. Anyway, thanks for those informations, it's helpful ! I really wish at one point it becomes as awesome as procreate ! I'm back to the hell that is clip studio paint now. I wish you an awesome day !

It's still odd that they don't have the main feature that most people like about Procreate which is the ease of making a straight line and perfect oval/circle by just making the wonky line or curve and holding down. I've used the stabilizer in Procreate and that has never been the way I get the perfect lines and etc... I have those on high and still do the holding down method. Why launch an app that doesn't have that feature (called quickshape) and not tell people that it doesn't come with it? People are gonna assume that it would come with those 'cause that's the main reason why most people even bought Procreate. So to come out with a new program that's supposed to use the same brushes that can also be ported over from Procreate (which I haven't found any info on how to do that). So it would be assumed that the ease of holding down to get a straight line and etc... is what most people like about Procreate, that would come with the new app at launch. Though it's still not here. I don't understand that. Also, the motion filter on high doesn't give those perfect lines. For the people that constantly use the hold down feature in Procreate, our lines with motion control on high are still wonky. It's just way less wonky.

The best way I discovered how to do this is if you have a png sequence import up to 125 images into procreate first turn on animation assist and save the file then drag it into procreate dreams. I believe procreate dreams can import how you said but probably not with big animation sequences .

Toonsquid is better! Half the price, 5x as nice!!! Having procreate dreams literally bought a couple weeks before toonsquid, watched hours of tutorials for dreams, and it felt like a over complicated FlipaClip (which is free), I hopped into TS not really needing a tutorial I was able to make a 15s animation in about 10 minutes (which is good) also saving common animations like walk cycles will save tons of time reusing animations. Dreams drawing is nothing like procreate and I honestly prefer procreate animation over dreams just add sound, key frames, symbols, and camera to regular procreate I would pay another $10 for the animation add on. TS being one year old is probably where dreams will probably be in a year, but dreams should of released at TS quality with a huge budget from procreate sales it’s like number 1 on App Store, so having millions of dollars should help
