Thank you! This has been the most informative tutorial that I’ve seen. You covered everything that I needed to know, and stayed straight to the point, too. Happy animating!
As someone who is a fanatic of 2d animation and hand drawn animation I can’t wait to install this! Thank you for the precious insights I feel lasso tool might be essencial but I’m such a beginner at digital I don’t see it as a negative point for me because I never used it
Apple Pencil double tap in draw mode has been added! There is a messed up cut at 16:30 . Please skip to the keyframing chapter. If you have any questions or want a more in depth tutorial on any concept just drop a comment!
Great video, mate! Procreate dreams of exterior is phenomenal. The UI is very sleek looking and works smoothly! That being said, there are some negatives. 😂 No lasso, no smartshape, cannot merge layers, fill tool is a little wonky. (Now these are ALL already existing features in procreate, just not in Dreams). Also, you are not able to distort/warp if there are multiple layers. (Workaround is to duplicate the lineart layer and make it its own track and color that). Lastly, no vector brushes. Right now, the app is not efficient for anyone who animates regularly. It is great for beginners though! A great alternative is Adobe Fresco AND Toonsquid for animation.
If you tap on the title name you will get the option to change "Frames per second" of your animation. 12 frames per second I think is the slowest you can go for now. You can also record your action and then go in and do some fine tweeking of the keyframes. Hope that helps, I'm just getting into it.
To specifically change the speed while recording the action hit modify in the top right after you hit the record button and lower the motion filtering. If you want to change it after you've already recorded you will need to move the pink keyframes and set the easing. Easing will change the movements in between each keyframe. For example ease in will make a movement start slow and end fast. ease out is the opposite.
Isn’t there a lack of lasso/ select edit tools? I was really looking forward to trying this app but that feature is fundamental in any drawing/ animation software. Someone @ me when they add it lol
@@CarcassBones Hopefully. Tbh they left out so many other essential features it’s like a beta 😂 they have a roadmap you can google if you’re interested but there are no concrete dates
I keep seeing that pro dreams dosnt have lasso. Thats kind of an important tool for lots of animators. How does this app stack up to ToonSquid as its solid as can be for animation
As of right now Toonsquid is much better for most things animation related. Dreams has the advantage with its various keyframing and filter options. Overall its a really good compositing app right now in my opinion and it is very interesting, but it’s missing a lot and makes simple things hard to do for beginners. I will do a full video comparing the two in depth soon.
@@Savonnedraws sounds like a good idea. Crazy how toonsquid is 1 guy. Mad props to him for making a kick ass app thats hard to beat. Its literally like flash on iPad. I do like the ui elements of procreate. Can't wait to see the comparison vid n some animations

Your animation example with the whale is amazing!

Thanks, agreed. I would only use it for shorts, editing and as an alternative to animation on paper. I wish they’d make some good updates already 😭
You can move the drawing layers, you move them in the time line.
But not within frames. Layers within a frame can be added or deleted but not reorganized.
Great stuff! Thanks for the intro.
Can you slow down time when using the recording button or do you have the one speed

@d-paddungeon9550 changing the fps will change the speed of your whole document but otherwise that is correct.

Ok I understand thank you both 🫡

Hii! Love the video! When i try to wrap and distort a group, it dont work.. is there a way to do it or its just how it is rn? Thanks
Hey! I tried to find a solution, but it seems to be impossible as of right now.
@@Savonnedraws oh thanks so much!
Amateur question. Is there a shape tool in Dreams?
Nope. If you have procreate I suggest drawing shapes in there and importing to dreams
@@Savonnedraws Thanks! I am surprised Dreams doesn’t have something as basic as that!
PLSSS I NEED MOREEEEE
Why doesn’t my drawing show until after I lifted my pen off the iPad
This sounds like a software or hardware issue. I recommend restarting the iPad or redownloading the app.
Seemed like constructive criticism.
