    A few questions if you dont mind. Can the B vent touch the drywall when passing through? what diameter hole did you cut on the roof? How do you determine how high the vent pipe terminates from the roof?

    No disrespect for a valiant effort, but 3 thoughts come to mind. One, if one is going to this much effort, use good cutting oil. Two, make detailed list of the process, tools, etc., to make the best use of your time. Three, man, you can buy these already made, they're quite inexpensive. Just need to fit them. I've already got three years of projects that I can't buy.

      @@Arckivio Well accidents happen, especially when you might be focused on making a video. But yeah--seems like it should have been more obvious to not make such drastic "adjustments" to the machine's travel when it's in motion. Inertia and all... In any events, it's a nice-looking lathe and I'm grateful for the video(s) he uploaded on this machine.

    Looks like a nice lathe Mike. I just put my name on one with Grizzly this week--but they're back-ordered until early June. Seems like the best option going right now though, if the 16" is too big for you. It certainly is too big for my shop, so this seems like the next best thing.

    You might consider adding a couple of 1/4" magnets there by the ports for the two spindle bearings. Seems like that would take care of that fine swarf/dust in there.

    • @bluehornet6752
      @bluehornet6752 12 дней назад

      Since leaving this comment six months ago, I got a G0709 lathe. Basically, this lathe's older brother. I put two 1.25" magnets on the bottom of the headstock cavity, and two small 1/4" magnets near the spindle bearings (front and rear). Basically, one little 1/4" magnet sits on either side of oil hole(s) that feeds each bearing. It works great. Overall, I think your lathe has some definite improvements over the one I bought, but there were a couple of features I preferred on this G0709...the lack of the need to change gears being one of them. Of course I had to buy a DRO extra and install it, but that wasn't terrible. These things are fairly nice lathes for the money, and likely better than most people give them credit for.

    • @bluehornet6752
      @bluehornet6752 12 дней назад

      Oh, forgot... I don't mess around with draining the headstock at all. I simply pull the top cover off the headstock, and then siphon the oil out using a large hose and suction bulb. Takes about 3-4 minutes, and also allows me to inspect the inside of the headstock. Of course I'll need to keep a couple of cover gaskets in stock, as they'll wear out from time to time--but it seems like a small price to pay for the piece of mind that comes with being able to inspect the gears, and keep an eye on any swarf building up in the headstock.

    Хорошая работа! Из всей работы на мой взгляд самое сложное было прорезать пазы для замка ствола,при такой большой длине инструмент теряет жесткость но у вас все получилось хоть на видео нет как был сделан замок все отлично работает! P.s такие сложные вещи делают для души что бы знать что я это могу.

    That’s really impressive. When that slide cycles, there are a bunch of parts that have to move past each other and there is so much that can go wrong. It definitely takes skill to make a functioning 1911 slide. Nice job!👍
