Laios guessing that only the right Marcille would act like an idiot reminded me of that time in My Next Life As A Villainess when the MC Catarina got accused of something she didn't do and her friends debunked the claim not by referring to her heart of gold, but by saying that she is way too stupid to ever come up with such a plan.

Well, yes, but actually no XD I'm sure you know it by now, but his name is not Shuro (because Laios misheard it and spread the wrong name around and Toshiro was compelled by his culture of politeness to not correct him). I love how we are led to think of Kabru's team as an unskilled one, but they are just a PvP team forced into PvE fights. Just like we are led to think Marcille is a joke of a mage when she actually is very strong and skilled in ancient magic.

I like how they punished Laios's lack of control. In some ways, this is a very good way to teach people about not just cooking healthily, but also being careful about how you eat in nature. Because wrong choices and lack of self control have consequences. Laios's defence au the end was even stopped by the physical realitybthatbhebhad messed up. This ending also reminds me of a funny review of the game Dishonored by The Kevin Experience. High Overseer: "We had to kill the Empress, we need a strong leader. Also she was a bit dumb, she gave a very important diplomatic mission to a guy who can't talk." Kilian (narrating): Corvo wanted to agree, but he couldn't, because he is a silent protagonist.

I love how this story explained mimics as hermit crabs and treasure bugs as parasitic wasps. It works so well, it's beautiful.

There are guilds! I don't want to spoil anything, but there's at least one confirmed guild that's designed to grant members protection from abuse as 'trap springers' and 'monster front-line fodder' and the like. I enjoy your reactions, but the long silences are distracting. Is it possible to edit around these or leave the show's sound in? I think it would improve the video quality overall. To be fair to Laios in the beginning, they WERE starving. Hunger hurts your focus and energy. I love your comments on the flashback style! There are multiple dungeons with similar creatures in this world (hence the "guide"), but this one is unique in the king-city legend.

Senshi was supposed to be 36 in the flashback, Chillchuck looks 12-13 by human standards, but when he told Senshi he was 29 he was surprised and said he was even younger than he thought. So maybe he thought Chillchuck was around the same age he was when he was mining and Senshi was a preteen early teens? Dwarves are a long-lived species like elves. Marcille I think is supposed to be 50.

this is such a wonderful show that had me pleasently surprised but the idea of eating Falin was not one of them and then they were serious with visuals and planning like this is not a mistranslation yes this is happenning. it was a good idea to swap everones races for perspective , like seeing Chilchuck as his race sees him a sad middle aged man, or that Senshe is beautiful no matter what he looks like and if you look back in the series he's just like THAT fruity with gentle mannarisms, and age wise Marcille is actually like fresh out of shool. this series made me say thank you for the meal, it's filling and nutrisius with it's flaws. 10/10 and reding mang gives so much insight whit everything that didn't fit, so scrumptious.

This series is what introduced me to this channel and its been awesome! (Ironically it was the namari episode too. ) The manga is an absolute treat and Studio Trigger absolutely knocked their first ever manga adaptation out of the park. Looking forward for what's to come! 😄

Lol your right about Shuro being upset about the bell. The anime cut it out, but Laios basically just tossed the bell into his bag from the start. So its been ringing this whole time. When he tossed it here, it made Shuro jump.

Unfortunately dwarves have the lowest capacity for mana and magic of any humanoid race. It's part of why senshi throws up so often after being magically transported and why marcille is encouraging laios to learn magic as a backup as opposed to teaching Chilchuck or Senshi. As such, while possible, the chances of a dwarf learning magical abilities, let alone ones as strong as resurrection are tragically low :( Senshi's backstory is so sad! But it's so heartwarming to see how through it all, Senshi emerged as an incredibly kind person. Prioritising eating well and making sure the "youngin's" are always protected, taught well and cared for. Not only because that's what Gilin instilled in him, but also because he grew up experiencing first-hand what it's like not having basic needs met as you traverse the dungeon. In ways that demonstrate his remarkable intelligence and deduction when it comes to things he cares about: his friends and monsters.

If you do check out the manga, it'd be cool if you did videos or streams for it 👀 Dwarves live about twice as long as tallmen, so he's about 15ish here... Laios definitely needs to work on his social skills but I understand what he's going for here. There are three outcomes: senshi doesn't eat the meat and is tormented by not knowing for the rest of his life, senshi does eat the meat and is tormented by knowing for the rest of his life, or senshi eats the meat and can finally have peace. Two roughly equally bad choices and one good choice. Obviously you go the route that gives you the best options! Senshi being all paniced and scared had me on edge. he was in the dungeons the longest he knows so much and cooked so many monsters we saw him finish a Kraken you know there's more to that so prepare some paper napkins we're gonna cry HARD. can you imagine if they sent Marcille back to the surface way back in episode 9, i think, she is truelly the best girl a skilled magition, good friend, a failgirl yet best of the best. and those familiars are cute no matter what Laios says, and yeah if he want a cooler one go to magik school and learn to make one all in all a goog episode with loots to eat on.

I think this is one of the funniest episodes in the season. The most direct competitors for "funniest episodes" to me are number 15 and maybe 18. I also love the character designs for the dwarves, but you will notice that one of them is actually a gnome. The one with the eyewhere.

Yeah senshi being terrified for the first time in this and the next episode was so gripping to me. Setting someone so seemingly unwaveringly brave and kinda at peace with himself so scared and freaking out was JARRING. This episode also goes to show how they really all are just people who have only begun bonding so much so quickly thanks to sharing meals and experiences. Also knowing marcille had no qualms cutting her HAIR to get senshi back, it's like a less dark but still powerful resenblance to her just cutting her hand to use her own blood to revive falin. Shows how much senshi has come to mean to her. 😂 Marcille and laios with the familiar felt so much like siblings fighting over character customisations. Especially laios who frequently talks about his own headcanons and original monster designs like in his dream or the basilisk episode, he was so down to make a masterpiece with the playdoh. You said it yourself, but laios even as the leader is like the ultimate support character. Lots of knowledge to share, down to clown or get to business, able to compliment everyone's combat styles or strategy, he will carry you or football kick your wok or bark like a dog, no questions asked. He kinda reminds me of Fred Jones from Scooby Doo, "I'm not a leader, I'm a CHEERLEADER. My ultimate power is bringing out the best in each and every one of you guys :D" He's low key a freak, but his party wouldn't have him any other way.

Monster Munchers? Or for the friendship angle you could go for Monster Mates but that has other connotations... It has been 23 days since falin first got eaten, and they met senshi. Sky Fish n chips? Looks more like a battered sausage to me! (This is a joke about how chip shops usually sell battered sausages, so it still fits the theme.) (Oof, two britishisms in one comment... yikes) Chilchucks idea of opening up is saying his first name that they already knew, no last name, a vague geographical area of where hes from, a vague work history that they already knew, and then drops the fact that he has a wife and kids and impending divorce. Incredible. Senshi backstory next episode? 👀

this episode made me like Kabru. his way of judging Laios seemed to me very neurotypical at first but it was based on his experience with other not so noble adventurers and after meeting with our boy he came to the conclusion that yeah he just really likes monsters and knows how they work, yet it’s not enough. remember the one who defeats the dungeon and gets rid of the mad mage will inherit the kingdom so becomes king and lets be honest we the viewers know Laios is a good leader but can he handle becoming a king, rule over people and land, sit on hours long boring meetings, remember names and details of foreign ambassadors and be mindful of their cultures without making an international incident. even I'm not sure he can take it. in any other anime Kabru would be the capable main protagonist with his tragic backstory, dueling (with humanoids) skills, and a neck for politics but he's stuck with us. in the manga there was part where Laios said that his other dream was to become a ranch farmer but apparently there was a spelling error that said he wanted to be a “ranch cow” and people thought yep that checks out seems like normal Laios to me and now that copy of the print is considered as very valuable. also everyone's reaction to Laios being the chosen one is so funny and real. Imagine you’re doing your job with close colleagues/friends that have become a found family over the course of a couple years and suddenly your friend Steve from accounting inherits the CEO position just because his special interest helped in a case some way. (oversimplified for comedy please don't come at me or show example belove)

1. This episode, as a more dialogue heavy one, focuses a lot on the characters. Fleshing out their motivations and parallels. Kabru cements himself as the second deutoragonist (marcille being the first) in this episode, and through this storyline the world expands a lot more outside of a quest to save falin, but a matter of political espionage with the potential for warfare. Kabru and laios as foils is also further built upon. They have similarities: both are good party leaders in their own way ( fish illusion fight vs. the among us incident) and have a shared goal in defeating the mad mage. However, as you pointed out, kabru feels more suited for politics. He doesn't hesitate to insert himself and, over time, redirect a political conversation. He knows multiple languages including Kobold and Elven. Meanwhile laios, while a skilled team leader, shows he isn't comfortable in the idea of being this saviour/great mediator for the people of the Golden Kingdom, and is more versed in monster behaviours and imitation tactics. Laios has even previously shied away from getting in between marcille and the orcs when they were having a dispute, and made a meek attempt to diffuse namari and marcille which must resulted in them being mad at him on top of everything 😅. Plus, where laios will tell you the straight truth and what he wants to do, kabru will tell you versions of the truth tailored to appeal to the intended audience and conceal his true motivations. Even the way they're designed. where laios is this tall, bulky figure almost never without his bright armour; kabru is built much more lithe and adept at sneaking up on people, is dressed in blacks and earth tones, even occasionally taking off the bulkier armour to gain an edge on opponents like falin. 2. That detail of the Golden people losing their sense of taste, and the human nature of still finding enjoyment in seeing others enjoy it is such a good tie to this theme of food/cooking being such a soul nourishing thing. Something interesting is that elves, the longest living of the races, continually have it pointed out in-universe that their food is the blandest. (Kind of a poke at stereotypes regarding British cooking, as well as OTHER colonial similarities the elven superpower here possess). Anyway, it's like the ability to appreciate food, and by proxy life, is eroded by living so long. The elves, in similar yet different fashion to the golden people, are more detached from life's cycle simply because of how long theirs takes. They look down on and infantilise other races. They seek immortality, not caring what the personal and political consequences of hunting for it is. 3. Obv, not everything makes it into the anime, but still sad to see the bits of shuro and kabru building a dynamic, and walking through town cut. There were bits like shuro's bell non-stop ringing in beat with laios' walking patterns cuz the guy didn't secure it. Or shuro having his funny little mind palace he retreats to to collect his thoughts, and his inner-mind version of kabru expertly picking the locks. Even the villagers gossiping about laios and falin and how "serious", "formidable" and "regal" they seem adds so much. Cuz it implies they're prolific, but anyone who hasn't directly interacted with them assumes they seem soooo mysterious. But then laios is just a guy. Even in the face of some prophecy he doesn't want to out right crush anyone's hopes, but he reaaallly doesn’t wanna be rich, famous and in charge. 4. Believe me when i say shigiraki will grow on you. He and his canary team are so intriguing. The "retired vice-captain" the members mention taking kabru in and encourage him to visit more often, previously served as vice captain of a canary team under Shigiraki :D

Yes, the first half takes place on the same day as harpy/chimera, and the day before the shapeshifters. Oh yeah, dark elves are basically just a boogeyman story for shorter lived races. Elves are just elves. (Although according to the adventurers bible, there are cannibal elves living somewhere in the western continent. This is all we hear about them. I dont know why ryoko kui dropped this tidbit and never brought it up again. Wtf) Kabru is so interesting in his manipulations. He likes to tell a story in order to get his point across. In this episode we hear him tell one story twice, to two different groups of people. To the tallmen and namari, he emphasises how the canaries' disregard for shorter races lead to the deaths of many, including his only family. To the elves, he points out his connection to the canaries and emphasises the loss of elf life. Only the grey haired captain of the canaries seemed unphased by his sob story... "Who is that tomura shigaraki lookin' guy" uhhh you mean "sounding"? Cause thats literally the VA lol (but also yes he could use some chapstick, huh) As for the golden country being accessible, marcille said before that dungeons need to be connected to the surface for the flow of magic. My guess is it's somewhere on the fifth floor, since thats where the castle town is. Using she for Yaad? Lmao, time for another episode of 'Actually thats not a girl, thats a boy!' Another character that gets this in this episode is the grey haired elf, though in the anime his voice usually tips people more towards man.

this show does a lot of amazing things, i give my praises, but the most mind boggling is that they are teaching a cat that sometimes you can't be selfish and you might need to eat and do things you don't like. also she keeps saying she defeted the golemn on her own when Chilchuckk foung the tiny core in the muck among fish and garbage, like she was never alone in this even in the ninja group others covered her week sides. i hate misdirecting food, my parents once gave me soup and said that the beans are potatose yeah they tasted the same the the texture and mouth feel compleatley through me off, took me a long while to like beans again. it's fine if i know what's what just don't trick me.

Fun fact, there are ongoing debates in universe whether the barometz is vegan or not. I'm on team vegan, personally, because its funnier that way.

While not public info, the fact that laios' party received a mission from the island lord to venture this far down speaks to how skilled their old team already was and how prolific they were in so short a time. It means on some level, people believed that they were capable of getting further than anyone else. And even though we see Kabru's team get wiped a lot, the fact that they reached the 4th floor (water level) at all is more than the vast majority of adventurers, even people at the pub knew them. Dungeons are like mining towns, even down to Falin and Laios being part of gold peeling teams to initially gain experience. As well as people flocking from all over the world to these sites for the chance to strike it rich and economies quickly growing and collapsing from this boom. Like someone on Tumblr said, imagine hearing about some new rag tag mining party who've tunnelled and explored further than anyone and imagining how and why they do it...and finding out their leader just REALLY likes coal.

Regarding marcille's parents, from the portraits you can see that her father was a human. I won't reveal too much, but because they had such different lifespans, marcille's childhood memories of her dad are largely of him growing old and dying, and she was confused because her and her mum still seemed so young. So her mother tried her best to use an analogy to lightly put it that elves live longer than any other race on average, and that this means you'll see a lot of people go before you do. Also, it's my own headcanon, but from the portraits and bits we see of marcille's father, he somewhat resembles laios. And obviously, as Falin's brother, they look alike. So there's something so sad but reassuring about laios resembling the two people out hurt the most for marcille to lose. Marcille and laios' friendship is so dear to me. Obviously laios already respected her cuz of how much she cared about his sister, but i think marcille being very EXTRA means it's actually easy for laios to know what she wants. She doesn't like something? She will scream, cry and break dance. She enjoys something? She'll get giddy and excited and jump right to it. Very transparent 😂

To be fair to Marcille's mom and her speech...I mean she's gotta learn some time I guess?

apparently the mangaka said in a recent interview that she’s a picky eater and wouldn’t eat most of the things she draws, same with me I've got a couple dishes i like and constantly shift between them adding some variety here and there i hate cooked cabbage in any way, a fresh one in a salad is fine but boiled, fried or steamed is a big NO for me and fried eggs. Laios, a furry i don’t know what makes you think that /sarcasm/ i have a little flip over notebook where i write down all characters names when i watch show sometimes just to keep up. Names are hard.

Izutsumi joined the party! Laios' three headed chimera made an appearance ages ago, I wanna say episode 2? He had it drawn in his notebook. (Speaking of episode 2, it starts with marcille having a nightmare, so it's popularly thought that she's had them in her pillow this whole time!) Most of the pictures are anime only, only the one of her mother was in the manga, I believe.

34:41 ohhhhh boy do people share the same thought. The reading that laios is autistic or autistic coded is one of the most universally accepted things I've seen in a fandom because of how well it's done and how much it fits and enriches the story. I think someone else explained who's mind created who, but an interesting thing to me is that despite all the flack people give laios for being bad with people and details, his were some of the most accurate to the real people, mostly just missing minor details of their clothes cuz he forgets that stuff easily about people. But what i love, is that through comedy and his own way, laios KNOWS his friends. He may have also used his knowledge of monsters to figure it out, but he knows them. Also based on an extra where young falin and marcille are drawing laios, it's been joked that if Falin were here, her version of laios would be this jojo-style "coolest brother ever" figure. 😂

the point for a shapeshifter is to disorient their victim, think about how you remember a friend/colleague you don’t know every single aspect of them and this type of doppelganger is very dangerous instead of fully copying the victim it copies what others think of them until it’s too late, it's fiendishly clever. i don’t want to hear anything from the bunch about Liaos considering their vision of the leader, kinda upset with them. this is one of my favourite episodes the doppelgangers shenanigans is funny to have a look how they see each other surface level vise, we get introduced to the best cat to ever girl, and we got to see Liaos on all fours barking like a dog [would] WHO SAID THAT.
