1. Yeah the fight with shuro was especially sad and hit hard for me and some of my friends. Shuro comes from a high context society, a mirror to Japanese society, and did his best to communicate with the tools he had so as not to be rude. Meanwhile, laios did his best to communicate despite being clearly written with autism in mind, so as to have difficulty understanding social cues that seemingly come so easy to everyone else. And after being sleep deprived, starving and witnessing horrifying thing after horrifying thing, it just culminates in this almost childish fight. They did what they needed to say with their fists after failing to understand each other. 2. you may have noticed last episode, but Shuro isn't even his name... it's Toshiro. So Laios got his name wrong and introduced him as shuro to everyone, which especially frustrated the man cuz, as he said, Laios was always well meaning. But as someone who often goes by a nickname so people stop butchering the longer version...yikes 3. It's in an extra comic, but while kabru was struggling to swallow the harpy omelette, laios was explaining in graphic detail the way harpies regurgitate rotting flesh to their young, how they poop, eat their young's poop, how bad their egg nests smell because of the poop, etc 😅 not the most convincing thing to hear for someone who already doesn't want to eat the egg. 4. In another extra comic and then in a recent interview, kabru actually tries to connect about monsters by explaining how his mother had to run and hide with him cuz his unnatural looking blue eyes were seen as a sign his mother must have been a witch or colluding with monsters somehow, like succubi. He goes on to say he would grow and be taught how recessive genes work. And laios agrees that it's probably that....before ranting how the genetics of a succubi doesn't work that way and that if kabru WAS genetically part monster it would be a parasitic bee. Also, due to having to protect kabru from people from their birthplace continuing to persecute them, his mother changed his name to kabru. Now that she and the village are dead he'll never know his original name or last name. It's just Kabru. Like shuro's, names mean a lot and can tell you a lot about what someone's been through. The rest is sliiiightly spoilers so I'll leave the link to it here if u ever want it: www.reddit.com/r/DungeonMeshi/comments/1c70jyv/kabrus_party_tidbits/
I took a look through what you linked and really was amazed by the depth of these characters being shown within just a few pages! Kuro and Mick especially were really nice to read about. It was so cute that he even tried to learn common to better communicate with Mick. Toshiro and Laios have a very interesting dynamic (namely two dudes who do like each other but they obviously are just too hard set in their own quirks/personalities that don't mix super well) and I love the exploration in this episode.
If I saw someone as cool looking as Kuro, I would remember him for the rest of my life. It probably helps with Laios that Kuro's appearance is more "monster" like than regular people so his brain probably keeps the memory fresh in his head.
God i love that kabru is just in business casual under his armour lol Shuro gets a bad rap from a lot of the western fanbase, but the guy is having the worst two weeks of his life... glad hes been able to air out some of his grievances with laios now though. Its pretty ironic, laios being so straightforward and earnest was a lot of the problem, but if toshiro were able to be that straightforward then he wouldnt have let it fester so long, so hes also jealous of that quality.
Kabru keeping it real this episode and I love him for it, honestly. Sees everyone getting massacred, strips down to make himself more agile/sneaky to then fully Assassins Creed Falin. I really like Laios and Toshiro have conflict but some genuine care for each other based on their previous party-ship. Laios especially likes Shuro a lot but even when Toshiro vented about his own frustrations, Laios doesn't seem to deny that what Shuro felt was wrong but that he should have just said something sooner so Laios could have at least changed or done something different. It was brief too but I would love to see some Shuro and Namari interactions too. Would be fun if the old party reunited for a fight or something but I'll keep dreaming LOL
i think Laios does take things seriously it’s just he shows a bit different from normal Marcille did nothing wrong, maybe she did use an old forbidden spell to save her girl best friend but it’s the mad mage who turned her into a chimers. both boys needed to fight it out, imagine Toshiro/Shuro who is restrain and doesn’t show emotion a Liaos who can’t read signs and has a hard time reading regular people. and including the fact that he was the first friend Laios made on the island a lot of emotions built up. i believe there is a section in the manga where Liaos designed a better chimera version of his sister
I'm just imagining Laios drawing a very childish drawing of Falin in her new form but it's like adding the most teenage weeaboo stuff. A black trench cloak, a katana with dark flames, sunglasses, fingerless gloves LOL That's what I used to draw when I thought of a cool anime character when I was younger
Man the fight with Shuro really stings, i really felt seen by Laios and his fight with Shuro. Also it shows why Shuro and Falin are not a good fit together, because Falin and Laios are too similar as we saw in episode 12. If she found out that Shuro secretly hated Laios I think it would be a dealbreaker for her
I agree, though I don't know much about their dynamics (Shuro and Falin) I wonder if he is the type of guy to put the woman they are interested in on a pedestal to the point where they are more of a infallible figure rather than a real person. I don't think Shuro actually hates Laios (I think they are not the perfect match in interests, thought processes, and just general demeanor) but if Shuro just talked with Laios, things probably would have been easier for both of them. I don't know what happens after yet since Shuro left with everyone else, but I would imagine they consider each other favorably still.

0:26 your laios is showing 😂 fun fact, laios couldn't recognise any members of Kabru's group except the dog man Kuro

@AuronTheOni someone actually calls laios a monster otaku wannabe on the manga lol 🤣
