Ariana, you have any memories about what it was like to do these scenes?

Brad should be haunted because if had not been for him Malinda would still be alive. He allowed her on that boat knowing she was intoxicated. . It's the same as giving the keys to someone you know is two sheets from the wind... Driving while drunk is irresponsible and deadly just as being on a boat unless you are hog tied not able to move around. .

Three years later, Ariana would be in “hot water” again almost drowning in a bathtub on Ryan’s Hope. If anyone watching these videos knows whatever became of Suzanne Davidson who played Betsy please give us an update. I never heard anything else about her after she left ATWT to go to college.

I enjoyed the late Mr. Ryan as Vince Cardello on daytime's first cable-produced soap Another Life. Episodes 72-final episode (#875) of Another Life are posted on RUclips, by YtheGreat, who accidentally lists Episode 72 as Episode 70. The late Mr. Ryan first appears in Episode 85.

Ariana, did you leave of your own accord or were you dismissed? I didn’t get why Melinda was killed off. You played her light and dark sides very well, and I know you were popular with fans. Also Melinda had strong ties to the core families. I never thought the Dobsons were a good match for this soap. They did a good job at GL but pretty much bungled ATWT.

Brad is responsible knowing she was under the influence . I'm assuming he was also intoxicated. .. Jumping on a boat is like jumping in a car... just as dangerous...Was he ever prosecuted for her accident possibly believing he pushed her overboard...

Oh yeah the reason it hurt so much was because I like the Malinda character.. It never seem to happen to a villainous.

What a way to go! How lucky for you that the demise of your character was on a remote shoot. Do you have any memories of this shoot? Where was it? Sometimes, P&G planned remote shoots at the same time for multiple shows. Was this one of them?

Oh wow this Sure does bring back memories.. i was quite Young back then ..i remember Malinda dying in tragic accident partly because of being under the influence and I also blamed Brad for taking her out on the boat knowing of her condition just to shut her up...i must say Malinda BKA Ariana rocked that bathing suit... bikini . I remember loving those legs. .I knew thw the boat circle back running over her .. The blades were the culprit... Just not sure if Brad was charged or not ...i must have been around eighteen years old...or twenty something...

Oh my God. Poor Melinda. You played a convincing drunk. Definitely brought back some memories of dumb stunts I pulled around that time, but nothing bad ever happened, thank goodness. What was it like shooting those scenes?

That was so damn irresponsible of Brad Hollister to allow Malinda who is under the influence onto that ⛵ boat.. Indirectly he was responsible for her falling off and being killed... i don't remember Betsy and her boyfriend being there At all...They sure got a ear full and possibly testified for the prosecuting attorney ..

Oh wow! Rough scene! No way a soap would have the money to pull this off today.

Thank you for sharing. I had read about this but seeing it is even grimmer than I had imagined - if they were going for a horror motif they succeeded. And the final shot of her ribbon in the water is even more tragic. Melinda deserved so much better as a character but at least you had a memorable exit. I know it must have been very tough to film. Glad now people will finally get to see all the hard work you did.

Okay so Malinda had been drinking which is why she is so aggressive with Brad heading towards the ⛵ boat...She was quite smitten and a tad bit obsessed with Brad Hollister who wasn't worthy of her at all..

And there go Carol Stallings who was married to Jay Stallings. I believe he died in the fire at Lisa's bookstore ..

I never knew Cricket Montgomery was on the show at the time Malinda was on as Barbara Ryan Steinbeck sister. Malinda was very beautiful just as Cricket and Betsy were...I was so disappointed that Malinda was killed off the show being ran over by a boat. .And not much longer after that Cricket disappear never to return. .I always wondered why when Margo remained on the show going onto have a family with Tom Hughes. Lila was on also for quite a while having Katie. Not sure what even happened to her sister the lawyer....

I'm assuming this scene was leading up to Malinda falling off the ⛵ boat after a minor argument with Brad Hollister being instantly killed by the motor blades propellers. I recall that storyline of Brad the great womanizer involving himself with also Annie Dee Stewart and possibly a entanglement with Lisa ..not sure of what Her last name was back then. Lisa had been married close to a dozen times. ..Could have been Lisa Coleman ...The quality is not that great but I appreciate you sending them to me. ..They don't write them like they use to but you should be proud of your acting. Very convincing. .You kept it real. I was also a fan of your sister Barbara Ryan Steinbeck BNA Colleen Zinc..whom was recently on Y&R as Jordan.

I love these scenes/episodes. Was this 1980 prior to your character being killed off?

I never watched ATWT regularly. I'd sometimes catch the last five or 10 minutes before "Guiding Light" during the off-and-on years I watched it. So I'm somewhat familiar with the main families and some of the characters and storylines over the years. Ariana - I'm really glad you've included these clips. They're proof of what I suspected when I first saw the AW clips you posted: AW was crazy to let you go. This role as Melinda clearly shows your growth and maturity and promise from the Marianne days. Marianne with a dash of Melinda would have perfect for AW around 1980. I've really enjoyed these first three clips. What a time capsule. At the time this storyline was playing out, I was between high school and college, loading up heavy boxes of peaches into pickup trucks for minimum wage! That summer job provided me with food and spending $$$ at college that fall.

Never watched ATWT, but I'm intrigued. Melinda seems a bit more worldly that Marianne. Thank you so much, Ariana, for sharing your AW clips!

Thanks. Another rare sighting of Peter Reckell before he became famous on DAYS (was he playing Bo when you played Kim?). And this may be the first time I've ever seen any family moments between Kim and Melinda or Melinda and Betsy. That's nice. I liked Lindsay Frost a lot as Betsy but what I've seen of Suzanne Davidson is also strong.

This scene is another example of the producers blowing it with letting Ariana go in 77. The show was at the top of its game here. As I said in previous posts. Beverly Penberthy and Mike Ryan could have been the matriarch and patriarch of the Matthews family for years.
