Great video, brother! My kids 2006 Scion xB is overheating and loosing coolant. Just replaced the waterpump earlier tjis year and radiator has no evidence of leaking anywhere. So i will now be replacing the thermostat. Did you need to replace the heating sensor or was that just preventive maintenance? Anyhow, i appreciate you, now wish me luck doing this job 🙏

I experienced the gasket on the edge of the thermostat getting stuck in the groove where the thermostat sits. A pick may be needed or anything to pry it out

See the white thing left of the lower hose? That unscrews to allow the radiator to drain without having to take off the hose!!!

If you have a cold air intake the sensor is super easy...cuz your air box is already gone.

This video applied and is the same for all the Scion XA because it has the same 1.5 engine.

great tips knew what to except going in .. one thing the alternator plug has and red lock on it that you can't see from the inside (closet to engine) ..so don't struggle with it until you get the alternator off then its much easier to get at the lock instead of breaking the plug:-) also the emission thing snapped the bottom bolt so it going back in with just one I'll let you know how bad it leaks :-)

Great video. Helped me in my '08 Corolla S radiator upgrade research (the tC, xD, and Corolla share similar cooling components, trying to see if i can retrofit a Mishimoto Performance radiator meant for a Scion tC. So far it seems very likely to work with some purchases of OEM parts). You gave me the best view of that bottom hose/thermostat housing. I'll have to pray I can gain bottom access like this instead of taking the alternator off like in the Corolla tutorials. Thanks for your upload.

I have an 04 Rav4, and it didn't come with them, but I installed some and connected them to the prexisting connectors but they wont work?

In 9 minutes you don't tell us the bulb number. For everyone else, I think it's a 9006.

can you do multiple conditional statements? if not, are there any functions, such as returning Length of a String?

My fan still not working. I tested the radiator motor and the fan it’s working but when I plug it in it’s not working. Is it the relay or fuse problem? If the sensor is not working does it stop the fan from working also?

I usually don’t like these types of videos where the visuals aren’t there but your vocal guidance helped me visualize exactly what you were talking abt and what it was that you were removing. Im 18 and I like to diy what I to my 2004 shoe box and save a couple bucks. Also being familiar w components of a vehicle is a skill I’d like to apply throughout my life which is more valuable to me.

Sigh.....this is the 3rd vid that I'm viewing to do this repair....and in all 3 vids, the motor is partially failed...and you have the nice option to position the window ( up/down) EXACTLY RIGHT, to get access to one of the lower-edge window bolts ( 3:45- 4:13). Nice...IF you can do that. What about my problem?.... ( and I'm sure for many others)....my window is UP.... AND...the motor is DEAD. That SMALL access hole to get to the left-bolt is not lined up with the bolt...not even close. Now what ?

I have a 02 4runner that I thought was a tranny issue. It was slightly bucking going up hills , under load. Wrong... I went on Amazon and bought plugs, wires and coil packs, for my 4runner. Runs great now !!!

Hi Scott, What are the sizes of the other 2 bolts for the alternator please? The guy who changed mine either didn’t tighten them down or didn’t put them in and the last bolt came loose and broke and the alternator ended up in my serpentine belt. Thanks!!

Thank you so much for this video!!! I just replaced my ignition coils on my same vehicle (2006 Toyota RAV4 3.5 v6) at 163,000 miles. I had the shop do the spark plugs because they were original to the car and my mechanic dad across the US said they'd be too difficult for me, but ignition coils I could definitely handle :) You made this very easy to understand and follow along with and I was able to replace all 6 in under 2hrs. Saved me well over $2,000.

I just followed this video today awesome stuff worked great. Also buy the 15 ratchet wrench!!!!!!!!! Everything in this van is way to smashed together. Also went out and got a serptine belt tool went very smooth.

I'm late but the bottom has 2 tabs that are meant to be cut out to push the window holder tabs in to disconnect the window. Way easier to work on that way. It releases the window.

Just bought one of these, with the same problem. Great video. We used to own a auto electric shop. From 1938 to 2006. I like the duct tape idea. We used to use those rubber door stops.

i think theres a way to remove the alternator without removign wheel and belt but no videos on it but seen comments of it.

Thanks for the video. My buddy’s XD was randomly overheating. New radiator fresh coolant. Water pump is quiet. No water in oil. This is the only thing I think it could be.

thanks was able to do this as well!! only problem i have is when reassembling the door panel. there is now a gap between the rubber and window on the inside. door panel is seeded though. so idk buts its okay
