    How much would you say the start up cost would be in total if I wanted to start electro forming?

    • @cuforming
      @cuforming 3 дня назад

      It depends on where you live... In my country, I could spend more than 200 euros if I had to buy the setup you see in this video. I made the magnetic stirrer my self, copper pipes, wire and cables are recycled, my electroforming solution is DIY... in this way I managed to save almost half of the money.

    Is it normal that the wire on which the items were hung during electroforming sticks to them? and how to detach it?

    • @cuforming
      @cuforming 5 дней назад

      It happens. You need to make your hooks out of a wire of 1mm or bigger, and the loop of the hook should be squared, not round. Also, if you have a magnetic stirrer amzn.to/4eystpS in your setup, you can make the solution moving, so your pieces can move along, and they will never get welded to the hooks.

    Hello, great video, thanks for that ! I wonder if its possible to use an aquarium for tank and if the silicone used to bind its parts would interfere ?

    • @cuforming
      @cuforming 7 дней назад

      Hi, thank you for the appreciation!!! You can definitely use glass as container. I've never tested silicone with the electroforming solution but, in my experience with it, I know that it can oxidize metals in general if it's in contact with them for some time. It contains acetic acid, which shouldn't be problematic since the solution itself is acidic. But you need to test it. In my opinion you should just go buy any plastic container made of HDPE or Polypropylene, you can find a lot of sizes and shapes, and it's also very affordable. You can even find something like this one around your house amzn.to/3Z8xLnH With the aquarium tank, I would probably be more worried about any possible leak, that would be a real problem. Also, I wanna advise you not to follow this video for making the connection on the anodes, I have more recent videos of how to make a setup to start electroforming. Follow these videos instead: ruclips.net/video/l7ejHV3LJaY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/G_8zOSFExss/видео.html ruclips.net/video/uBw9jD5rmYw/видео.html

      @@cuforming Hey thanks so much for the reply ! I'll get a plastic tank and follow the instructions on the more recent video. I'm not in US and I have been trying to get all the materials, would you know if that fabric to make bags for the anodes is made of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE) ? And that metalic mesh to hold the anodes is titanium right ? And have you tried to electroform with straight silver, no copper prior to it ? The video linked about the voltage is so helpful too, life saver channel !

    • @cuforming
      @cuforming 6 дней назад

      @@nayararamos6595 It's a pleasure helping you! If you can tell me in which country you live, I could send you specific links for all the supplies needed. Maybe contact me on one of my social media for that. The fabric I use as anode bag is much more affordable than proper anode bags, it's called craft felt (in Italy we call it pannolenci) and as long as it's not made of wool or cotton is good, polyethylene or polypropylene or acrylic or any synthetic fabric is good. The mesh for the anode cage is titanium, there are also made of platinum. Sadly you can't electroform directly with silver, it always needs a base of another metal, copper is the best base metal to plate with mostly any other metal, silver, chromium, nickel...

    One thing I found was that after the bluish patina was set and dry, I Q-tipped it with hydrogen peroxide resulting in interesting dark brown to black shades. One of them was hard and scaly, resembling oriental black lacquer. But nothing was predictable ahead of time.

      The water in the solution will evaporate, so you need to cover it. Also, you need to remove the anodes to avoid oversaturation. I personally remove every props inside the tank and cover it with its own lid. You can also pour the liquid in another bottle and keep it shut.

    Whilst I'm unsure of the temps for each colour change, simply heating titanium up also causes colour changes (can use lighter, hot plate maybe or make a mini nichrome heater band to poke it into e.g e-cig mod coil!) If those bubbles are an indication, I think the issue was amperage not voltage, if I recall right, amperage breaks the process so you need a way to limit that to nothing but retain the voltage, maybe manually wind a coil?

    • @cuforming
      @cuforming Месяц назад

      I'm gonna make a stabilized regulator, the one I made is base on the voltage drop... I need it to be stable... I have the module display for volts and amperes too... I will also try heating the titanium to see what happen... but you have to admit, doing it with electricity it's more fun.

    I think I have this patina from my father. I thought it was liver of sulfur but it is written it sulfur and caustic soda. So this must be it. Unfortunately I have a lot of problems with it. I tried some of the online recommendation. I heat up the bronze sculpture, apply it, let it work for a while then wash it off and use a wire brush at the end. Some have told me to put it in a bicarbonated water and I’ve done that too. The thing is I end up with small dark stains on it and also with what looks like white salt flakes. I don’t know what to try anymore

      Is it solid? Try to reboil a small piece, with a little water. And don't use bicarbonate to rinse, just water is good.

    Can you try the effect of copper plating on the glass?

      You can do it on glass, but you will see the color of the conductive paint on the other side. So it's better to use copper conductive paint or, if you use graphite, to paint the glass first with a copper color paint or silver color like I do in other videos.
