This barge was one of 4 that separated from a southbound tow on the Mississippi river, May 9, 2024. It was damaged when it struck a bridge piling and eventually sank. The bridge was closed for a few hours pending inspections and was re-opened later the same day. The rest of the barges were recovered without incident. Modern farming. Spraying a corn field with a drone (Agras T40). Showing the entire process to spray a 7.5 acre field. The drone holds about 10 gallons per fill up. Notice there is minimal waste or drift due to the "low and slow" nature of a drone vs. airplane. The irregular shape and proximity of trees of a filed like this makes it ideal for the agility of a drone. Thanks for watching!

Ft. Madison, IA. Mississippi River. August 2023. Two northbound tows going through the swinging bridge at Ft Madison Iowa. The bridge was closed for a few hours to marine traffic, for maintenance, so there were 2 tows waiting. Both tows made a perfect center line through the opening! Road traffic piled up a bit waiting for the bridge to swing. Thanks for watching!

Davenport USACE & Clinton Corps USACE are parked on the outside wall of the Lock. A few towboats had Christmas 🎄 lights on them. We still get Captains chatting, waving and toot salutes and crewmen chatting, waving and occasional river dances! 😂 There's a few new cam mods. Some of the mods are friendlier than others, but fun. Still chat about food and music. I've missed you. The gang is still there. You should pop in and say hi. A few people have been banned. I used to see Delone McCracken, but I think she was asked to leave. I'd see her sometimes on Woodlands Critter Quest cam, but she's not there anymore either. I haven't chatted on there in a while. Love this, I used a two row New Idea Superpicker behind my 4020D, and, stored it in cribs, and, then shelled in the spring with my big Moline 1200 sheller. It made for more work, but, I never paid a cent to dry the corn either. That John Deere picker seems to leave a lot of husks on the corn, the New Idea I had, was the one with the big husking bed, but, back then when you had corn that went 125-50 bushels and acre, it was considered a big crop.
Its easy to get in a hurry and not really give it the time it needs. :) Thanks for watching.

how many ton per day for harvesting Soybean?
It varies a lot depending on yield and the size of the field etc. A truckload is about 26-27 tons.

I cant get an answer from anyone for this question, and it's a genuine question....Why do farmers harvest beans at an angle across the rows and not following the rows?
Good question. The answer is....no particular reason. The bean head on the combine cuts full width, so it really doesn't matter if it's at an angle to the rows. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.
If the crop happens to be laying down one way or the other from heavy wind or rain, you are able to do a better job of getting everything.
Also it keeps the blade that cuts the beans from cutting at the same spot so it dosen,t dull

Do hog farmers use ear corn also? We do sell corn to large hog operation. Wondering if they could feed out ear corn?
Dealing with the cobs would be extra work, so I don't think many would be interested in it for that.

Yeah too bad the ethanal plants can not send it through their crush system right on the ear and have the cobs go right back out with the ddg for livestock feed.
This is just the last few acres. Most of the corn is combined. The ear corn is for the locals for bribing the cows to show up at chore time, and squirrel food etc. lol

Most of the corn is used for Animal feed, Ethanol, or High Fructose corn syrup. Some of it is put on barges at Burlington IA for export as well. Thanks for watching!

I know the bridge was built to be able to hold two trains together but I personally would rather see nothing parked there while I was going over the bridge on the other track
