Cowboy Camping Gear Video (from 3 weeks back)
I lived in a small trailer for seven years in Oklahoma. I cooked all of my meals outside over open fire (except to reheat leftovers in the microwave occasionally). Made alot of soup, stews, pot roast, and spaghetti. Thus I would have leftovers. I’m moving back shortly and I’m planning on getting a 20’ diameter tipi. I’m not too worried about being historically accurate, just comfortable with low maintenance. If you have the perfect setup I would be blessed if you could make another video. Thanks for sharing.
That’s awesome, I wish you the best on your return. I’m in my van in Texas these days, and I’ve done a couple videos about my van. When I get back home I might do another video on how I live there.
See how u like live in wild and that No offence just curious brother do you think of getting any other dogs for live stock because I could recommend some breeds brother.
I don’t have a need for them. I had the livestock guardian dog and that was helpful but now I only have two horses, two dogs and a rooster so I don’t have need for any kind of dog at the moment.
@ Alr brother.
Chicken eggs are a cash crop now.... You can give up The comedy and just do chicken eggs lol
For now, the problem with eggs is the cost to feed chickens.
Cock fighting
Haha
Undersized balls can cause a chain fire. Even with lube over the front of the chambers. Personal experience speaking.
Great Show ol' Buddy sorry I missed it live
Thanks for commenting, I’m on every Saturday morning at 8:30. Hope you’re doing well.

Howdy!
Hi Arthur!
This was a long one thanks man good stuff
Yeah it might be the longest yet.
@OverOnTheWildSide cool great stuff cya next weekend
I don’t think American Primeval was ever meant to be a 100% factual retelling of history. From what I found, the director, Peter Berg, even said they took creative liberties and that it’s historical fiction, not a documentary. It pulls from real events, like the Mountain Meadows Massacre, but a lot of it is dramatized for entertainment. It’s kind of like Pirates of the Caribbean, sure, pirates existed, but they didn’t actually talk, act or dress like Jack Sparrow. Same thing here. It’s inspired by history but isn’t trying to convince anyone it’s all true. As for the woke thing, I think that’s up to interpretation. Women can be strong and men can be fools and visa versa. Some people see it that way, others don’t. At the end of the day, it’s just a TV show. Plenty of other stuff to watch. Just my two cents!
I didn’t say the show claims to be historically accurate. Also I made my points as to why it’s a woke message, a proper refutation would be points as to why you think it’s not. Sure I don’t have to watch it but that doesn’t help with masses of people thinking they’re learning history from a moronic show.
@@OverOnTheWildSide Yeah, I must've misunderstood when you said the show was lying to people from your last live video. But who exactly is walking away from American Primeval thinking it's a 100% accurate history lesson? Most people know historical dramas take creative liberties, and if they don’t, that’s on them for not doing their own research. It’s not the director’s fault if people take fiction as fact, especially if he’s already said it’s not meant to be totally accurate. As for the woke thing, I see where you’re coming from. I think the whole “woke” argument really depends on how you define it, and honestly, I don’t see the show as fitting that mold. For the Native American portrayal, yeah, I get that some could see it as the “white savior” trope, but at the same time, there are plenty of brutal and violent white characters in the show too. It’s not like they’re painting all settlers as saints and all Natives as savages; it’s just a gritty, violent portrayal of the time period where pretty much everyone is ruthless. If anything, modern "woke" narratives usually lean the other way, making all Natives flawless victims and all settlers cartoonish villains. As for the Mormon representation, I don’t know if criticizing certain aspects of a historical group automatically makes something “woke.” A lot of historical dramas do this, it’s not a unique agenda. If a show depicted, say, Puritans or medieval Catholic clergy in a harsh light, people wouldn’t necessarily call it "woke"; they’d just say it’s another take on history. Whether it's fair or not is another discussion, but I don’t think critiquing a religious group equals pushing a woke message. And the “propaganda” claim, who exactly is this propaganda for? It’s not like the show is screaming some modern political message about race, gender, or sexuality like actual woke media does. If anything, it sticks to classic Western themes, rugged individualism, survival, lawlessness, vengeance, none of which scream "woke" to me. I get why you have issues with the show, but I think labeling it as woke is a stretch. If anything, it seems more like another violent frontier story that takes creative liberties, like The Revenant or Deadwood.
@ you must have.
@@OverOnTheWildSide Just to clarify, I never said that you claimed it was factual. I was referring to what you said in your last live video (I rewatched it) around 11:57, where you mentioned that some people find the show so realistic that they walk away from the movie thinking that then they are basically being lied to. I watched one episode and thought it was kind of dumb so I stopped. Basically what I am saying is. The creators have been upfront about this being historical fiction, not a documentary. If viewers mix up the two, that's more on them than the showrunners. I've seen plenty of discussions around this, and it's clear to a lot of folks that it's dramatized. That's all.
@ there are subtleties you’re missing.
Wow. Those are some mighty wild horses. It is clear that you take good care of them.
Enjoyed the show , chicken is still cool .
Thanks Darrel
Glad to see you in Texas.
Thank you
Enjoyed this chat. Many valid points. Pushing ourselves out of the comfort box is important work. I appreciate your honesty and candor addressing touchy subjects Yes, your rooster would likely enjoy a flock, but can really bond deeply with his "family". As Im sure you have experienced. He seems very relaxed with you and the dogs. Hens tend to keep a rooster always on high alert. Just my experience.
Thank you, and that’s a good point about a rooster with hens. There’s really not a big reason to rehome him I suppose.
Started to, but it just didn't appeal to me.
I’m glad to hear it.
Ari Shaffer the man who has mastered the art of a method acting comedian, mixing clown school and out of control bar mitzvahs....your pen1s isnt a balloon animal Ari your greatest joke may be the one you played on yourself.
Yeah, he went too far with that stuff in my opinion. I still think he’s a really good comedian and seems like a good dude.
Back to American primeval. Can I watch the whole thing is it finished. I bought in on 1883 an 1923 or whatever the date was an they didn’t finish it then horizon didn’t finish
From my understanding it was made as a one season mini series but they’re talking about a second season. So you should be fine to watch season 1. I watched episode 2 last night and it was more tolerable than episode 1. Ep 1 seems to have been to establish the setting, that is- men are dumb and dangerous, and ep 2 got into the external conflict.
Are u in banderas
Usually I spend time in Bandera but I haven’t yet on this trip.
I like what u said about u have to leave your comfort zone to truly be comfortable
It’s like breaking through the sound barrier as a pilot.
26:50 best book i ever read re monetary history was Stephen Zarlenga - Lost Science of Money
18:47 Richard get a chance read Henry George - Progress and Poverty.
but in Texas heres the irony or property Taxes are horrible so we really dont "own" the land hope we can change it im squawking hard to Legislators in Austin over it.
Same as Washington, but in the county we can’t even build what we want to like you can in Texas. Some other states allow people to build but in Washington there’s a lot of requirements on how and what we’re allowed to put up.
Reconstruction burned alot of things into us. Land had to be defended. so thats why private property is so radically defended. then add the transplants gentrifying the major Cities in Texas ....UGGGHH
i hope to run into you when ya in Texas one day ... Llano we say it LAN-OH in Texan im in Burnet County east of Llano 😄😄🦝🦝
When Nietzsche pronounces “God is dead” and asks “Who gave us a sponge to wipe away the horizon “, is he not making the point that without an external frame of moral reference, all human morality boils down to convenience.? We are left arguing based on our subjective feelings, and our subjective ideas of benefit.. We accept that it is ok for a dentist to “hurt” someone, in order to reduce future pain. It is OK for a Doctor or Policeman to act with the same motivation. How, then, do we argue with a Hitler, when he claims that the suffering of six million Jews, is countered by the future happiness of eighty million Germans? Without an external moral framework, we are left arguing over the mathematics of death and suffering, things which we cannot possibly quantify. I believe that Nietzsche recognises this, even as he denies that the only possible source of that moral framework, exists. I consider it one of the stronger arguments for the existence of God. If morality is only a matter of evolution, then Hitler was not evil, merely the victim of a genetic accident. Humanity does not ACT as though this is true.
As to your first point, from what I know so far, I don’t believe that’s what Nietzsche himself was saying. However maybe your forming that as a question was rhetorical? The rest of it- really good way of putting it.
Yes I agree on the moral framework being a strong reason for God (or a God). I once debated with an atheist that from his point of view morals truly don’t matter. It took a while but finally he conceded its true. Which also, he’s one of the nicest guys I’ve known, so his atheist position was very counter to his way of living. But it’s true, without meaning in life, morals have no relevance. Well, it’s true from what I can tell.
@@OverOnTheWildSide I’m with you. I think that if we value truth, then we follow the implications of what we know to be true, to their conclusion. If I think that God (in some form), exists, then I have a responsibility to myself to follow up on that… which includes wanting to understand what God is like and what the implications are for me. It’s a bigger reality than my feelings.
The Rule of Law means that the Law is the highest human authority, not a human King, President or “Dear Leader”. The English chopped the head off a King (Charles 1) to make the point that the King, also, was subject to the law. Anarchy? The logical end-point of anarchy is Gangs and Warlords. One reason most ancient nations had Kings, was that a strong King was necessary to keep the Warlords/Barons/Tribal-Chieftens from constantly fighting amongst themselves. They weren’t stupid and weren’t opposed to individual liberty, so much as not having any better options.

A lot of history is “complicated”. Braveheart never mentions that the Scots were invading England before the English ever returned the favour (Look up the Battle of Brunanburh)…. or that over a 700 year period, the Scots invaded England on an average of once every 45 years. The Scots were not nice neighbours, whether to the English, or their fellow-Scots. They fought constantly amongst themselves and raided so constantly into England that all the larger farmhouses were fortified. Farmers are farmers. Whether it is in Western USA or Northern England, farmers are busy people, often isolated and with far more work to do than time to do it in. Starting fights with their neighbours is NOT in farmer’s interests…. and living near the Scots border was very like living near that tribe of hostile Indians that is always trying to steal your horses, and will kill you if you try to stop them. That’s not to say that the English never did evil stuff, either. Both cultures considered violence an appropriate way to solve social friction. Both cultures had their share of unscrupulous people who thought that violence was an acceptable way to get them what they wanted. History is like that. Hollyweird is not.
That’s what I hate about history, when I find out it contradicts what I want to believe. Thanks for the input! I definitely didn’t want to know that about the Scottish… that does make a lot more sense as to why the British would rule them firmly once they were able to.
@ I have both English and Irish ancestors…. Imagine how that could go down if I decided to take a side. 😂
@ it’d be similar to that song the Orange And The Green
It's true that Scots raided and invaded England but I don't think the Battle of Brunanburgh is a good example to your point. Yes it occurred on English soil but The Scots and a coalition of others were trying to break English control of Scotland and the North. England had invaded Scotland just a few years before and annexed it.
@ Actually, it’s pretty good if you take into account the breach of a peace treaty by the Scots, which led to that invasion. Or we could go right back to Roman times… the Romans did not build Hadrian’s Wall - or the Antonine Wall - to protect Scotland from the Britons…
I’m right with you regarding the denigration of the old-timers, their character, culture and morals. Criminologist David Kopel, writing about crime in the “Wild West”, wrote that abuse of women was almost unknown, and that the homicide rates in western towns was lower than in Eastern cities during same period. If you wanted to see violence, drunken young men would kill each other in the sane way that young men in drug gangs will now, but if you lived in the decent part of town, you would leave your house unlocked and have no fear that your wife and children would be harmed… and not see a shot fired in anger from one year to the next. Other writers have pointed out that the residents of those towns were the people with the courage and initiative to move out there and take risks. Much as I liked “High Noon” as a movie, the idea that a small number of badmen could terrify an entire town, is unrealistic. Look what happened to the James-Younger gang when they tried it. I grew up knowing people who were born in the 19th century. The were kind, decent gentlemen, but no-one who looked at their war service would doubt their courage. They loved and cherished their women, and their wives and daughters knew and appreciated it. One reason why my mother despised feminists. Cheers…. Peter.
Those are excellent points, Peter, thank you.
Strange how Texas the state of wide open spaces is really the state of sorry you can't find a sliver of space to do anything out side.
Quite strange, and disappointing.
Thanks alot came in late 4 live watching what I missed
Mexican here, not offended. Just found ur channel, keep up the good work and safe travels.
Thank you and welcome to my channel.
How did u do last night u find a roof or sleep in car. Sorry bout bar gig they wanted to watch football
No worries, last night was pretty cool. I actually went to an Old West town that a friend reenacts at. I didn’t think you meant you would try to set up comedy last night, I thought you meant to set something up in the future.
Wow where is this old west town at
@ about an hour south of Dallas.
Hi Richard in stock yards ft worth they have white elephant saloon from 1884 Lots to c in the stock yards

I would choose during week less crowded but more events during weekends cowboy gatherings chuck wagon cooking just need to google c what’s happening
@ ok thanks
Beatles ? Eat them as long as they are cooked
In the day of Adam Smith (pre- steam industrial) human labor was worth nearly nothing. Materials cost an arm and a leg. Today, post-industrial led to cheap materials and a much higher value for labor. Post-digital neither material nor labor is of sufficient value. What is rising today in value is water, land, some materials, and skilled labor. When citing Adam Smith or Marx, you are dealing with limited well thought out, but very limited knowledge. Issue in the information age is sorting through too much data that is of no service. Often the valued true lessons from the past are so buried no one can access them. Enjoy your trip!!
Distracted? A part of normal life. Is that chicken navigating? Not to distract you while you are driving. I see you are hip to increasing interior usable space by removing seats. Wise!
Yes my car and mini van both only have a drivers seat
Everything is bigger in Texas except public land, hunting, fishing access or freedom of life, rights and travel of any sort. I'll never have a desire to visit the worst state in our country
Then u better stay out of California
@craigCurtis-o3o I have done plenty of living in California. Way better for the traveling horseback rider, no private land owners or cops will shoot you for taking a rest quite like Texas. I like a little constitutional wiggle room for pioneering my pursuit of happiness.. it is my right so I know the 1 state that is not on my radar
Track those numbers with government AI computing?
Which numbers?
@ Money numbers that replace cash.
@@larrylong6268 oh, yeah I suspect so. They’re essentially doing it now with bank accounts.
No tax on private land.
That’s a big deal, I spend a lot annually in taxes.
Where do you get your clothing do you make it or is it off the shelf?
It’s off the shelf. A company called South Union Mills, they make pretty good stuff for a fairly low price. It’s all expensive but they’re a pretty good balance.
Finally got around to ordering that knife, 9 months later but hey. Love it! Thanks for the link.
Awesome! Are you going to make a sheath for it?
@@OverOnTheWildSide yep just gonna make a simple stitched leather sheath. Nothing fancy.
Is that you playing the guitar music? If so its sounds so cool😊
Unfortunately I’m not that good on guitar, but a friend composed and played that and named the composition after me.
@OverOnTheWildSide ❤️
Such beautiful animals
Eliminate all regulation in your western town build by making it a private membership association (monthly, daily, yearly fee or even no fee doesnt matter, private association) public is commerce and regulated private cannot be.
Yeah for how I build it that could work as far as business requirements vs private but my county will come out and make it take it down if I don’t build to their specs. But I could possibly build it as a barn and then do a membership thing.
@@OverOnTheWildSide Yes as far as buildings go your right since your parcel has been registered for tax evaluation they hold the contract to enforce building codes.. So funding for the town could be PMA although the building code regulations. Heck nothing illegal about a portapotty that is wrapped in rustic wood for beauty. However. Private events or sleep overs by association members or even friends within barns and outbuildings are always within the rights, doesnt matter the activity in private. Think about it as how a kid would we didn't do commerce so a group of kids could get away with shooting tipless arrows up in the air, its private property not for public use, even if we sold eachother knives while drinking underage in the shop cutting up a deer. The only thing is if you went public and advertise as a business then regulations of insulation etc would be in place. Not if it's a private group club association then you could sleep outside shit in holes and still everyone could pitch in to finance their private hobbies. It's all about how it's marketed that's the loophole which pulls you into commerce.
Where you camped in Arizona
I’m south of Goodyear right now. I was wondering if you have time for a visit in a couple weeks.
Let me know the dates.
I met a group of Old Order Mennonites and they were the real deal. Everyone worked barefoot, if they went anywhere it was in a buggy and a flashlight and kerosene cooker were only technologies other than wood stove. They came as a group of five families from Pennsylvania to 300 acres in Tennessee because the commercialization and crowding were just too much. I live now in a place where there are hitching posts at every business in town for buggies. The culture is really changing though, and you are right they are absolutely all about making money. Around here there are the "rich" Amish and the "poor" amish. Different subtypes. The Poor ones are more like the old order conservatives. The rich ones use gas powered equipment, taxis, debit cards and solar. But they do support each other when there is a medical emergency or a death in family. The Old Order Mennonites were amazing to behold though. Utmost respect to them.
